Just returned from a three night stay at the hotel, come to Norfolk 2/3 times a year but this was our first visit to the Harper,we absolutely loved it.The welcome is warm & genuine the staff are first class & the food was also first rate. The village pub around the corner is also run by the owners & is pure rural Norfolk "well worth a visit". Around 3 miles to the coast at Blackney & about 9 miles to Holkham our personal favourite it really is a lovely spot & well worth a visit.

My partner and I have just returned from a one night stay, celebrating his 40th birthday. The hotel itself is stunning. The atmosphere, food, cocktails, spa and courtyard are truly wonderful. And the reception employees are extremely attentive. That being said, there were a few negatives which spoiled our time: 1. Our room (BIGGEST +) was on the ground floor, with double doors opening out to the courtyard. A courtyard full of people enjoying the afternoon sun having lunch and cocktails. Privacy was not one of the room’s strong points. Also the bath was no better than what you would get a basic new build house. 2. I mentioned a few times on various paperwork that it was my partner’s 40th, and was told that the restaurant would bring out a desert plate. Whilst we did get a handwritten note wishing a happy birthday in our room, that was sadly it. Fair enough… but, it did slightly upset me that the couple next to us was wished a happy birthday by the staff at dinner and made a fuss of?? 3. The worst part - my partner and I ordered the same breakfast, however only one came out. After waiting 5 mins, I asked if mine was ready. I asked the kind waitress and was told that it was being sorted. 15mins later (my partner has finished his breakfast) and still no sign of my breakfast. I went to reception to pay the bill (we needed to leave by a certain time pick up our daughter, so I wanted to save time where possible) and I mentioned that I was still waiting for my breakfast. The gentleman was most apologetic and explained that they had young staff, and two had called in sick (aka a hangover). What did make me smile was the card machine being pushed towards me asking what % tip I would like to give (whilst I was still waiting for my breakfast). After paying, I went back up to the restaurant to wait, I was upset to see a number of other guests receive the same breakfast I had ordered, whilst I still waited. At this point I left. The gentleman on reception was most apologetic, along with the waitress. And I was verbally offered a 20% on our next stay ( I have yet to receive in writing) however time was not my friend and we had to get back to our daughter. For context we sat down to breakfast at 9.30 and left at 10.25, not an unreasonable period of time to be able to order and eat breakfast. To summarise, it is a lovely hotel however it is not worth the price tag. Whoever does their branding deserves a raise! But when you’re paying £500 for a room alone, I do not think I am wrong to expect a superior level of service and facilities.

5 star food, cocktails and service. We had dinner and breakfast during our stay. Both meals were delicious. The spa was lovely and the 30 minute exclusive use is a great idea. Room 108 was lovely, great size, complimentary minibar and delicious complimentary snacks. Will be coming back for another stay.

Our second visit to this fabulous hotel. This is a stylish and sumptuous boutique hotel in the quiet village of Langham and a perfect base to access the north Norfolk coast. The rooms are excellent with great beds and bathrooms and lots of quirky extras. There is an enticing cosy cocktail bar, lots of relaxing spaces and a great outdoor courtyard in which to relax if the weather allows! We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were excellent but I think the hotel’s biggest asset is the staff who are always engaging welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed every minute and hope to be back.

Absolutely top class - we went for our anniversary and had a fabulous time. We didn’t eat in of an evening but breakfast was fabulous with good quality ingredients and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Added bonus of a pool which you had to book in advance but ok. In room treats were to die for absolutely loved them along with the quality of the room. Sadly our anniversary was barely acknowledged unlike some places we have stayed but nonetheless we would definitely recommend and return

Our stay at the Harper Hotel was perfect. The staff, service and food was wonderful. Ben and Mercedes made out experience in the restaurant, Stanley’s, an absolute delight. It was also our first get away with our 11 week old daughter and everyone was so accommodating, nothing was an issue.

We had a great stay at The Harper last week. The hotel in general and our room were beautifully furnished and smelt fabulous (I really appreciate nice scents!). There are multiple places to sit, relax and eat and drink and the complimentary minibar was a lovely touch. Throughout our stay the service was efficient, friendly and attentive without being intrusive and this was especially impressive as the staff were mostly very young. A special mention goes to the barman who mixed killer cocktails and really knew his wine! Our only suggestion would be that perhaps the restaurant could offer more fish and seafood options given the proximity to the coast. We will definitely return.

This was our second stay at The Harper. The accommodation is perfect, beds, cleaning etc cannot fault. Cocktails, beer, coffee, homemade biscuits, popcorn makes it a very enjoyable stay. You may ask why only three stars. Unfortunately the food is not four/five star. Breakfast was hit and miss and quite a long wait. We chose the Taster Menu in the evening and two courses were undercooked. Apologies from staff saying “I’ll inform the chef” but no replacement or explanation. Was told later the Head Chef was off that night! Should that have meant undercooked food?? We felt the main reason for a lot of our concerns was the training of the staff. No explanations for each of the Taster Menu courses would have been nice, instead of just plonking the plate on the table. It’s hard to employ staff in rural locations but it’s not hard to train them for the service this lovely hotel deserves. A special mention for the bartender- excellent service. A credit to the hotel.

Our stay at the Harper was above our expectations, we were blown away! An incredible place to stay, staff super friendly - especially John on the front desk! Everything was quality, from the bedsheets, food, to the sole use of the spa and we look forward to staying again!
