We stayed four nights in a NYX Suite in the middle of August. This hotel has an excellent location at the entrance to the old Town. The Renfe train station to Madrid and Barcelona is about 6 minutes walking across the bridge right in front of the hotel. This bridge also takes you to the major shopping street of Bilbao as well. The Guggenheim is a pleasant 20 minute stroll along the river and around the corner you'll find the Plaza Barria with some of the best pinxto bars in the Basque country. The metro station that will take you right to the intermodal bus station is a short 2 minute walk away. The suite was compact with only a double bed, but the bathroom was roomy and the shower easily fit two. Storage was minimal, but there was a safe, mini fridge, iron and ironing board. The coffee maker was an imitation Nespresso, but the pods were Lavazza. The balcony had a fantastic 270 degree view of the old Town and the newer city across the river. A negative note: Almost every evening we came home to discover a new invasion of ants crossing our room, slipping under the door and parading down the hall.

We had a very comfortable stay in Hotel Carlton. It’s my third time to stay there. The location is fantastic. The whole experience is special. The rooms are very spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room are very much appreciated. The little bar is nice for a nightcap after a night out. I’ll certainly stay again

I needed my boyfriend to stay over while I was traveling and this was the perfect place. This isn't a 5-star hotel, but it did the trick and we were very comfortable - here is why. PROS - Coming from Bilbao Airplane or taking Bus?...: It is close to 2 blocks from Bilbao Intermodal and if you are coming from the airport, this hotel is an easy walk from where the bus drops you off in San Mamés. The location is also SUPER safe. - Transportation: If you look down the street and cross it, you will also see the tram station along with the metro station. - Food?: There is food everywhere. This is Bilbao. Spend 2 euros (or really please buy a Barik card) and go into the city, you won't be disappointed. The best part about the tram is that it goes theoretically left or right. I live close to NYC so I understand it can be complicated, but the system in Bilbao, chef's kiss. - Bed/Room: Pro? The bed/room you get in sleek, modern, and for a REALLY CHEAP PRICE! Please don't hassle your way into spending a lot of money on a hotel in Spain. It is not truly worth it. Just get this place, feel comfortable, and safe. - Staff? There are not many, but the ones that are there will help and accommodate you. You just need to be nice. I say this because I went in to check in and someone was being helped. They weren't that nice to staff, so please remember, we are all human. CONS - Cleaning: I will say, the bathrooms were clean, but the headboard for me was dusty. It might have been that the room wasn't used a lot. But please don't worry, it did not effect my stay considering the price was reasonably cheap. - THE ENTRANCE!: You need to understand, their rating is a 2/5 stars but it is NOT because they are bad, in Spain it is based on what the hotel/hostels have and DON'T have. So what they don't have is a front reception. Listen closely if you are going to go here. Once you get on the street, you will need to buzz into the door as if you are requesting to go to someone's apartment. OR they will give you a code before hand. We spent 4 nights here when exploring the Basque Country. It was the perfect location - close to the old town and the Guggenheim. We could walk to everywhere in the city, and the tram stopped just the other side of the bridge for if travelling further afield. There were handy shops and a bakery just around the corner and the kitchen was well equipped for preparing light meals - we ate breakfast here every day. The room was spacious, clean and warm, tastefully decorated in a neutral style. Polite and helpful staff. We would definitely stay again next time we visit Bilbao, and will try other hotels from this chain.

A pleasant apartment in a quiet neighborhood with friendly reception. Nearby is a supermarket, coffee maker and a good bar/restaurant. Also transport to the center is easy with bus 38 (exit 1st stop after t complex) or metro. The complex is also a little noisy (contact sounds and stinging doors), the apartment does not work as a apartment, because there are no kitchen stuff, no cleaning and soaps, etc. The latter need not be insurmountable and then the price-quality ratio is good. Well, I wonder how the noise is when the students are back.

Close to the airport. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, which is very convenient. The rooms are relatively new, the decoration is simple and the configuration is relatively simple. The whole is still relatively clean. Breakfast is simple and there are not many choices.

Perfect location in the heart of “Casco Viejo”, small and clean room with all the commodities , small and clean bathroom , tv, wifi, no a/c but room has a very efficient ceiling fan. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, so get ready to climb stairs. You can't get there by car, the hotel has an agreement with a parking lot located 8 minutes walk away.
