Mitchell Grass Retreat

This place was booked for me, and I wasn’t super excited about coming here but now I don’t want to leave The tents are beautifully set up and furnished, attention to detail is great, chocolate and marshmallows in the fridge, port to drink, big comfy beds, a great shower. I can’t see what else would improve this stay The location is just out of town, so you get to take advantage of the dark sky sanctuary and see the stars in fully bloom but everything’s still only a few minutes away Loved it and if I ever make it back to this part of the world, I’m staying here again.

The whole glamping experience exceeded our expectations. Tanya and David have created an amazing and unique experience. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities in the tents were first class. The daily breakfast hampers were excellent. We would highly recommend this unique glamping experience in Longreach.

Longreach is an interesting destination but as the sun goes down, head to Mitchell Grass Retreat, jut a few km out of town. Tranquility, sunsets over the bush, kangaroos hopping along, grab the marshmallows (provided) and relax by our own fire pit. Tent is very spacious, has all the amenities of a 5-star hotel, very friendly owners / staff. Could have stayed longer.

We finally made it out here. We have just stayed 4 nights at Mitchell Grass Retreat. We took the 3 night Outback Glamping Adventure package and we added an extra night so we could also do a day trip up to Winton. The 3 night package also included a self cook BBQ pack which were the nicest steaks that I myself, have ever cooked. There was also sausages and rissoles which we cooked as an extra for breakfast the next day. The daily delivered breakfast baskets are a great idea as we didn't have to rush around in the morning to get anything. The tents are just so awesome inside and you have to beleive me when I say the beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The hosts Tanya and David are brilliant and looked after all of our itinerary for us as well, organising our week around the tours which were also included. We added on a river cruise and dinner ourselves, which they shaped into the itinerary for us. And we also took up the option for a sunset helicopter ride which you just have to do. That is highly recomended. Tanya and David are always nearby if you need anything and up for a good yarn if you felt like it, but mostly you are just relaxing on the verandah taking in the view or down at the fire pit. The website shows you exactly how it is. And lastly the pool is an awesome extra, I was in every day in the afternoon when we got back from the days exploring. An extraordinary place. Lovely 3 night stay. Very comfortable but it was all the small things that made the difference: the fire pit, marshmallows, fabulous and varied breakfast baskets, complimentary port. Very well appointed luxury tent accommodation, could not fault it. Nights were cold and windy but felt very cosy in the fantastic bed. Staff first class.

My buddy and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mitchell Grass. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. What a treat to have very comfy beds, well appointed bathroom (in a Glamping tent!) real coffee, everything you need in the kitchen, an outdoor plunge pool and special touches like complementary port, handmade soaps, bathrobes…very impressive! We had to tear ourselves away from our accommodation to do the ‘touristy’ things! Thanks so much Tania and Dave

The luxury tents are so well appointed with all the amenities that you will need with bonus bath!! Fantastic soaking in the bath late afternoon with the blind up, watching the mob of kangaroos come right up to the tent. Breakfast is delivered every morning and there is a lot. Nights are cold and mornings are crisp and the reverse cycle air con helps with that. David and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Booked here on the basis of previous positive reviews and pleasingly they were all spot on. My husband and kids were not overjoyed to hear I had booked to stay in a tent but within a few minutes they too were impressed. Just out of town but so peaceful with kangaroos and a couple of rabbits roaming around. Beautiful sunsets with so many special touches - marshmallows, chocolate, port, etc. Breakfast baskets were lovely and varied with something for everyone. Kids loved the swags. Great wifi so still able to keep up to date whilst feeling a million miles away from the rest of the world. Beds were the best we slept on across our few weeks on the road. Bath on the deck was lovely to soak in and watch the stars. Cannot fault this place and would return tomorrow if I could. Tanya and David were great hosts.

Had a wonderful stay at Mitchell Grass . The breakfasts were amazing and crafted with love. The hosts lovely, the tents luxurious and the sunset display out of this world. Throw in a couple of kangaroos and friendly birds and what more could we ask for?
