Hampton Inn & Suites Sherman Oaks
4.3/5102 Reviews
The breakfast is the standard of an average American hotel, there are not many varieties, and you can have a full meal. The room bed is relatively large, equivalent to two small double beds. The parking lot is big enough without charge. The front desk was very polite. One of the female receptionists said that she had been to China and was very friendly to Chinese people. The hotel is close to Highway 405, it is convenient to travel if you rent a car, but Los Angeles has a large area and sparsely populated public transportation. One kilometer north of the hotel is Costco, two kilometers north there is a large Chinese supermarket with lots of food and cooked food. A little more than two kilometers south, there is a Whole Foods Marked food supermarket, but the fruits in American supermarkets are generally not fresh. The food around the hotel is also good, and the barbecue roll next door to the hotel is good. There is a Chinese restaurant opened by Hong Kong people next door, the taste is average. 9 9 There is a ”Sanhe” Cantonese restaurant next door to the Chinese Supermarket. There is a ”Huaguan” opened by a foreigner in Sherman Oaks Square, which sells fake Chinese food, which tastes very good.
Best Western Plus Carriage Inn

This place is definitely in my top ten favorite places to stay in the LA area without breaking the bank, and one of my favorite Best Westerns. About ten years ago I stayed here, and it was a very good experience. Since then the place has been updated and the rooms remodeled. My recent stay was even better than the first. The landscape around this hotel is lush and beautiful. It really provides a pleasant contrast to the concrete city around it. There's plenty of parking, and a Denny's that you can get to through the parking lot. The room was clean and looked like it had been updated fairly recently. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, and the room included a fridge. The only downside to the room was a tiny gap between the door and its frame, which allowed smoke from a smoker outside to waft into my room. The location is very convenient; close to both the 101 and the 405. With that convenience, however, does come noise. Sepulveda is a large road, and there will likely be traffic noise and maybe sirens. As someone who lived in LA for awhile, I'm not sure where you would find a place to stay that doesn't have traffic noise. I look forward to staying here again.

John, the manager is very personable and does his best to support your stay.
Airtel Plaza Hotel

We like the Airtel. We’ve stayed here many times over the years. We were told they closed to the public for a couple years and became a homeless shelter. Admirable, but now that they’re open to the public again they really need to resume the same services they had. No restaurants. No in-room coffee. No microwave. No refrigerator (unless you ask for one and lucky enough to get one of few they have left). Crack in the bathroom sink. Not even an ice-machine, but at least you can bring your ice bucket to the front desk and they’ll fill it for you. It’s evident that they HAVE been working on restoring the place; the room was clean, great pillows, A/C worked fine, but they have a long way to go to regain their “former glory”. Were it not for Gary at the front desk (who did everything in his power to make us happy), we probably wouldn’t be back, but we will return.

It’s not bad but had to reinforce what room I booked
Courtyard Los Angeles Sherman Oaks

The hotel needs an overhaul. The old carpets, locked sliding glass doors (for your safety), old elevators, and whatnot contribute to a dated feel. The hotel guests here sit out front and smoke. I was glad when I saw a security guard doing a great job of walking through every floor to make sure we’re safe.
