I stayed here for one night as part of a larger Lao road trip. Having been constructed in 1937 during the French Colonial period, the building (house number 323), is a UNESCO-protected heritage site. Beautiful local hardwood is used throughout the structure and adds a level of charm that many other accommodations lack. The room was clean, large, well-appointed, and comfortable. The hot water, refrigerator, air-conditioning, and wi-fi worked well. The bedding, linen, pillows, towels, etc. were in good condition. I paid $27 USD per night on hotels.com, apparently, the walk-in rate for this same period is $26 USD per night. This is a fair price for this style of budget accommodation. I would stay here again for sure.

After asking around in the past, I found that room rates in Luang Prabang are generally on the expensive side (compared to local prices). Although this hotel is not worth RMB 300 in China, considering the local conditions in Laos, it is considered to be in good condition, clean and tidy, with complete facilities (air conditioning). It is one of the best hotel experiences we have had in over 30 years of travel. Without a doubt, the professional and charming staff helped a lot with the attention provided, and a service always above expectations. The facilities are impressive, nothing more beautiful than the central patio with the small pond and the garden, as well as the large common pool area, a 10! The breakfast has a high quality, a lot of variety on offer and they are always willing to prepare a more filling dish for you. The toast with avocado and poached egg is recommended, a great way to start the day. We found the room we were assigned to be one of the best in the hotel, with several separate spaces and a private pool. To stay here many more days. They should improve the Wi-Fi connection in that area of ​​the hotel, given that we were barely able to connect in the room during the days we stayed. Having to work at some point, this represented a problem, which I quickly forgot with a dip in the pool. Thank you to all the staff for your extraordinary work.

We spent 3 nights in this small hotel. The rooms are correct, clean but very spacious. The staff is very nice and despite the language barrier, try to satisfy us as best as possible. We have to order the evening if we want eggs. Otherwise we are a group of 12 people, the only on the hotel, and a certain lack of organisation despite the good will of the hotel. When our driver pulled up to the hotel by a rickety bridge over the river, we were a bit nervous as the hotel looks tiny from the outside. What we thought was the hotel was actually the lobby and the hotel is actually quite large and sprawling with buildings and bungalows scattered next to the river. The hotel has a lovely infinity pool by the river with a lounge chairs, beach towels and an affordable pool bar with snacks for sale. The rooms were spacious with large balconies. The toilet was by the front door so you had to exit the WC walk around the corner to the bathroom to wash your hands - sort of a weird set up, but did help in the morning for 2 people to get ready. This was the only hotel we stayed in with dual sinks and a long vanity so excellent for 2 travelers and a big plus! The shower was a walk in so east access. The hotel also has a restaurant where breakfast (included) is served in the morning. Unfortunately it was a buffet with limited options and the food that was supposed to be hot was always cold and unappetizing. The hotel uses tiny candles to try to keep the food warm but this method does not work at all. The hotel no longer has a shuttle to town which is a negative as you need to walk across a scary rickety bridge to get to town. The hotel does not have a gym which is a requirement, in my opinion, if you want to be a 5 star resort. My only other comment to management is to find a few better English speaking employees as we had difficulty communicating with staff. Yes we know we are in Laos and should learn to speak their language but I feel when you cater to tourists you need a few people in each area to speak the universal language for business. We did enjoy our stay and can recommend this hotel to others.

The guest house is well located a block back from the river and a few blocks from the night market (less than 10 mins walk). It’s in a quiet back street so no traffic noise. It’s all dark wood so a little squeaky as you move around and there is some noise from neighbouring rooms. The room was small with a balcony alongside your neighbours, that can be a downside if like us your neighbours have 4 little kids. All was very clean and the hot water worked ok. There’s a nice communal balcony with free coffee and use of a fridge. We slept okay but the mattress was quite uncomfortable. In the morning you can hear drumming from a nearby monastery at first light and also Alan starts shouting about 4am. Who’s Alan? He’s the talking cat. Very amusing during the day, but less so in the middle of the night! We stayed 4 nights and were happy enough but I felt it was a little expensive by Laos standards. We paid £23 per night and I’d say a fiver less would be more appropriate.

Burasari made my trip to Luang Prabang and incredible experience. The staff is great. Friendly and helpful. The rooms are so beautiful. I got a special rate which made it even better. Highly recommended.

A true museum of a hotel! It combines comfort with refinement. Big, light and airy bedrooms tastefully appointed, charming and helpful staff. Its location offers good views on the Nam Khan river and its annex on the opposite bank is equally charming. Owner Ivan Scholte produces some wonderful wines and tips for off-track excursions. It is close to temples, shops and other entertainment without compromising its quiet and peaceful atmosphere. My family and I spent an idyllic week there. Not to be missed: Laos Buffalo Dairy and the Living Land ricefield trip (where you get to go through all the stages of cultivating rice, down to eating it!)
