Great location overlooking a bay and the sea; however, not all rooms (in fact, only a small minority) has views onto it. There is parking right in front of the building, at a charge; there is further parking on the premises for a slightly lower charge. No advance reservation – you have to ask at check-in. You will be greeted by a well-staffed, friendly, multilingual, efficient and helpful reception. Rooms are reached via elevators; there are not enough of them, so many guests use the opens stairs instead. The rooms come in different sizes; my “superior” room had a good size, with a desk, a small seating area, and still enough space to move around. There is also a proper wardrobe and a cabinet – you should find enough space to store your clothing… The interior design has light timber imitations and muted colours, giving a fresh, mediterranean feel. The “superior” rooms are on the top floor and could in principle have a sea view; however, only those close to the central building do have them – for the rest, trees are blocking the view (but it feels like you are in a tree house, overlooking a sea of trees…). The balcony was spacious. A little tip for the views: If your room does not have one, try the landings of the stairs; there are seating areas there, which provide the desired view. The beds are good, if a bit hard; there is only one pillow type (but you have two for each person). Free beach towels are provided; sunbeds at the (public) beach come at a charge. My bathroom had a good size, and enough space for toiletries. Mine had a bathtub that can be used as a shower; due to the frame it was quite awkward to get in – I wonder how older people would manage… The free WiFi was working well. Note that the air-conditioning switches off when balcony door is open (energy- and carbon-saving measure). Windows are equipped with roller shutters; they keep the light out completely, but also any fresh air, so best to keep on at least a crack open. It is quiet at night (well, you hear the sea and the seagulls…), so in principle good sleeping conditions. In the morning (7.30 h to 10 h), you have access to a large breakfast buffet; a lot of the food is average quality, but there are ‘little gems’ of better quality – they are there somewhere, you just have to find them... You can also have a buffet dinner, either as part of your booking, or bought individually at the reception; as an alternative, you can also get a 10% discount at the restaurants of the chain, for example the beach restaurant next door, if you reserve through the reception. Other restaurants exist, but are a distance away (eg ½ h walk), with difficult car access (-> no parking; pedestrianised zones).

Losijn Island is a hidden gem in crystal clear waters 50k of zadar, Croatia which you travel by Catamaran to. It's not a 5 minute journey so be aware. The catamaran docks into their private bay and staff are waiting for your arrival to disembarke your luggage while your stroll around the small bay to the hotel. You are greeted by the friendliest reception staff who can't help you enough. The rooms are spacious with balconies either onto the bay or the woods that surround the hotel, it's so quiet that the bird song is the noisiest thing I heard! I can't express how impressed I was with the service, their flexibility to dietary requirements which went above and beyond anywhere I've been with an incredible selection for breakfast of fresh baked breads, cheeses, fruits, meats and fish and so much more. There is large wrap around terrace which is sun drenched and before you even sit down the staff are there, seeing to your every need to give you a truly leisurely meal. The new Japanese restaurant wasn't quite open but looks impressive. Both indoor and outside pools are salt water from the sea with a secret spa area with hot tubs and seating to squirrel away which is linked to the incredible spa they have. I didn't get a chance to experience it this but that's not the only one within the resort, next door is Hotel Alhambra which has its own identity, and also magnificent. There is so much to explore in the island and many local products to try The bay is set up in the summer with water sports and the concierge can organise all your needs. I've never had such service, they went above and beyond and we're truly helpful.. It's a quiet hotel and area but so much to see which is perfect for families, a special party or event plus couples or even on your own, you will be looked after. Losijn is known for its pure unpolluted air and sea and the plants that have unique qualities. The spa staff can take you on a journey to learn about this, including meditation by the sea at sunrise and forest bathing. You can enquire and book these through the concierge at the hotels. There is so much more in this resort, as well as private villas to die for with exclusive use worn butler service and decorated to a high standard to give the wow factor! This resort is very much worth an investigation!
