Riad & Spa Esprit du Maroc

Marrakech|0.55km from Souk Laghzel
Fantastic weekend away in Marrakech in a perfect authentic Riad within the Medina. We booked through easyJet holidays and this included a lovely breakfast. Breads, jams, yogurt, traditional beber omelette which is egg & tomato based. Coffee and fresh orange juice. This is a beautiful small traditional Riad tuck away down an alleyway. Not the easiest to find on your first visit but the taxi driver guided us. They also picked us up from the Riad. I was a little nervous after reading reviews about not finding the hotel but honestly it was fine. We arrived late at night and the staff let us eat in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. We travelled with friends so had two rooms, our friends had the koutobia which was amazing, large bed, two showers & even a little upstairs. It had double doors onto the courtyard with the small swimming pool. Our room was upstairs from the fountain courtyard, again another lovely traditional room. We booked a private tour guide for the morning after arrival through the hotel so this would help us find our way around for the next few days. This was fantastic as we went to places we would never have found and he also gave us points to look for so we could find our way back to the hotel easily. We also booked a massage within the hotel. OMG it was amazing and definitely recommend. The roof terrace is an amazing place to relax and also see the hot air balloons in the mornings. If we had more time this would have been a trip to try. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Riad ILayka

Riad Ilyaka is tucked away in the alleys of Marrakech making it super peaceful. It is very centrally located which also make it perfect as a jumping off spot. For tours and adventures. The owner Nadia has done an amazing job transforming this 1000+ year old building into a luxury hideaway. The room was decadent and very comfortable. The food was great and the staff are all so friendly. The only thing I didn’t love was that there were other guests there! Lol. The setting, like all riads, is quite intimate with several floors of rooms rooms built around a lovely open courtyard. With people’s tendencies to FaceTime, have phone calls on speaker or watch sports on their tablets, regardless of the setting, one tends to have their lives, hobbies or family drama “inflicted” upon you. This is obviously not at all specific to this riad but I vote for a “headphones required in the courtyard” rule.

Like the rest of my family, I was looking forward to returning to Riad Zara, where I had already stayed 4 times. What a desappointment ! The Riad is now badly maintained (rusty chair in the patio, tile on the floor in front of the room in a thousand pieces...). Home shabby, no tea as it is usually done .. No bottled water in the rooms (we had to buy them ourselves ..). No toilet paper. At the meal we are offered a bottle of wine... And we are therefore asked at the end of the meal to pay it in cash (25 euros for a basic bottle) without it appearing on the final bill. Whether it was for the meal or the breakfast, we had to ask ourselves the same spoon to serve ourselves, sugar, water... At the end, when the bill had been calculated together, the manager told us that it's not enough and counts us the meal a second time, in an aggressive tone. Luckily the owner was there and confirmed that we had paid what was necessary... The Zara was a marvelous place a few steps from the place aux épices, but nothing remains of its splendour. The last positive reviews date from 2020. It is with sadness that I will never recommend it again.
Riad Tahyra

This place is particularly good, the Chinese do not lie to the Chinese! ! When checking in, there will be mint tea and snacks to eat. The place to live is also very clean and bright. The air conditioner is very warm. It is still hot when you feel it (except that the toilet is a bit cold). The yard is very nice, very suitable for taking pictures, breakfast is delicious. The most important thing is that the people here are very good. I don't know the wifi password, so I called the front desk. A very polite gentleman came to help me lose. We left late the next day so wanted to leave our luggage here, they immediately agreed, and put our pizza in the refrigerator! When we came to get it, Miss Sister also said take your time, you can stay for a while and then leave, so I fell asleep in the yard... I heard someone talking in my ear in a daze, and opened my eyes and found that the gentleman who helped me enter the password yesterday told me that I could enter the room next to no one. Take off your shoes and sleep well on the bed. In short, I highly recommend everyone to stay! ! !

Location: In the heart of the Medina, beautiful hidden gem, there's actually lots of beautiful hidden cafe, spas (Le bain bleu) if you want to experience an authentic hammam, 2 min walk to the market, 5 min walk to the big square. It's really in the heart of everything. The riad itself is very clean, cozy, each room is unique, pool, roof top terrace, we even had a flat screen tv to watch movies under the stars, everything was always kept perfectly clean. We were a group of 36 that most places get overwhelmed with our presence at once so for me to say no complaints is because it was impeccable. Staff: Where to even begin... There was a group of 8 staff members that have been working together for 14 years so they really are like a family. It was the first week of Ramadan and from day 1 to day 7 they always had a smile on their face, going above and beyond to please us. We would have breakfast, lunch and dinner there and some of us are vegetarian, gluten free, lactose intolerant which most restaurants in Marrakesh don't understand. However this staff were so patient with us, always accommodated us and made our plates look so beautiful even with our certain pickiness. The food was delicious. A big thank you to Imad and Zac that we worked very closely with. At the end of the trip our group stood up for a long round of applause for the ladies in the kitchen, chef, staff and they all cried and sang a song for us to say goodbye. We were all in tears at the end of this trip so a good enough review in a paragraph is not enough to explain how well we were treated. Our company goes on retreats every year but this one completely exceeded our expectations so thank you!! We will individually be back and have already recommended and will continue to recommend this riad to all our friends and family. SHUKRAN
Ryad El Borj

As a family of 5 we stayed here in April for 5 nights. The Ryad itself is absolutely stunning, the photos on line do not do it justice. Our rooms were perfect, very comfortable beds & beautifully decorated. The breakfast each morning was amazing, a different selection of local produce every day with fruit, coffee & the most delicious orange juice. There was so much to eat it set us up perfectly for our day exploring. The location of the Ryad is perfect, a couple of minutes walk to the main square, and no more than 15 minutes walk to all the main attractions we wanted to visit. All of the staff that we met were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Daniel was fantastic and gave us so much information, and Ali was the nicest most helpful man you could ever wish to meet. We were made to feel at home instantly and I have never felt so welcomed. This was truly my most favourite place i have ever holidayed, and I cannot wait to visit again. Thank you so much Daniel & Ali x
