The most expensive hot spring hotel in Kamikochi. It’s a bit disappointing because it’s too small and there’s no bathing place in the room. You need to go to a public bath to bathe (it feels expensive because it comes with drinks from the minibar, which is not worth the money and not really needed). Only the private bath is a real open-air bath, so it is a little small; the public bath is semi-open-air. I feel like it’s better to stay at Shirakone Onsen Station. There’s no need to stay at Awaunoyu.

I experienced Shirono Hot Spring, a secret hot spring located deep in the mountains. This hot spring hotel is located near the bus terminal. It has few rooms and is very comfortable. You can reserve two free private baths for half an hour each time. It is full of sulfur smell. , milky white soup, very enjoyable

We stayed with our family, including our 3-year-old child. I was worried that it would be too difficult for children to stay at the hotel, and that children would be a nuisance, but we were very grateful that children were welcome. The room was spacious and the drinks in the refrigerator (beer, tea, juice) were free. The room was not cold and was a comfortable temperature. When you soak in the bathtub, your body warms up from the inside, so you don't feel particularly cold. The food was mountain vegetables and country cuisine, so I was worried about whether it would suit my taste, but it was all excellent. Even the mountain vegetables that I usually don't like were deliciously cooked and very tasty. I was also happy with the little thoughtful touch of the flowers picked that day that were served with the sake (sake tasting). The children were served rice and miso soup in the morning and evening, which was very helpful. The hot spring rice porridge for breakfast was excellent. The bath was, needless to say, the best. The milky white bathtub and the pleasant sulfur scent felt luxurious. There was also a diaper changing station in the large bath, so it was safe for children. The open-air bath can be reserved for 30 minutes free of charge. Unfortunately it was raining, but bathing under a hat was a memorable experience. It was a wonderful inn that was also child-friendly. I would definitely like to visit again.

We stayed here the night before going to Norikura Highlands to view the autumn leaves. In Shirahone Onsen, we stayed at Shintaku Ryokan, Saito Ryokan, and Awanoyu. This was our first time at Sasaya. Sasaya is a small inn with only 10 rooms, located at the very back of Shirahone Onsen, with a distant view of Mount Norikura from the windows of our rooms. As a small inn, the service is attentive and the attention to detail is excellent. The private open-air bath and large communal bath have a very nice atmosphere. The food was also delicious. It was my first time to try something called Kajika no Hone Sake.

This inn with 10 rooms is located at the very back of Shirahone Onsen. It's only a few minutes' walk from the "Awanoyu" bus stop. When we arrived, the futons were already laid out and it was a very comfortable place to sleep. No one from the inn will enter your room until check-out, so you can relax. We chose to eat in the "Irori no Ma" room. The ceilings are high and it's a lovely space. The food was also locally produced and gently seasoned, and the portions were just right. The private open-air bath is soothing, with nature all to yourself. The indoor bath was also liberating and nice. This inn was attentive to detail everywhere.
