I was told by Matsuyama that if I stayed at Dogo Onsen, there was no doubt that Funaya would be, so I made a reservation from the official website. We stayed in the haiku suite for 2 nights. Stylish, functional and clean. The room has a cypress bath in the hot spring. I felt that the food was delicious on the day of arrival, but the next day was completely different (it seems that there was a wedding on the day) and I didn't feel very delicious. You may have been tired of it for two days. Is it cheap or expensive for two people to eat 100,000 meals?

Located in front of the main building of Dogo Onsen, it was an outstanding location. Use GO TO travel and use it in １ room ２ names. Breakfast and Dogo Onsen bathing tickets were ２ names, and the total price was １ million ２ thousand yen. There is a step on the ceiling of the room, and it is devised a little different from the usual business hotel. Breakfast was a popular shop sushi Maru on the １ floor in the building, but it is a very ordinary Japanese meal for breakfast. However, the white rice was quite delicious.

It is about 100 meters away from Dogo Onsen, and the location is very good if you walk around. The tram station is very convenient to the shopping mall, and you can walk to some attractions in a few minutes. I also came across a small performance in the public square next door, Youyi* and her apprentice. The staff are not the most fluent in English, but they are very friendly and will help if you have any questions. We have Japanese friends in our company, so there is no problem in communication. The facilities feel a bit like going back to the 80s, but they are fully equipped and very comfortable.

The room is so big that it is unimaginable in Japan! Take Iyo Tram Line 3 or 5 to Dogo Onsen Station. Facing the Young Master Clock, there is a large torii gate on your right. Go uphill to the end and then turn on the right. The second road is the hotel. The rooms have large balconies, and the double rooms have futons for four people. There are toilets and no bathing facilities. You must go to the hot spring on the second floor. The pool is not big and there are few people. The breakfast buffet is good, and the dinner banquet dishes are excellent! The hotel is not far from the main building, the road is about 5-8 minutes!

Why is it in the UK even though it is Dogo Onsen? Book to explore its wonders. The guest room is a semi-double room, so it's a little small at 18 square meters, but it's completely British with William Morris wallpaper! The furniture is also completely British. I almost forget I'm in Dogo. A refrigerator, electric kettle, tea set, and air purifier are also available. The bathroom is a small unit bath, but there is a large bath so it is not a problem. Amenities include toothpaste sets, razors, and brushes. In addition to shampoo and conditioner, we also have a full lineup of hand soap, shaving foam, lotion, cream, and more. The hot water in the public bath comes from Dogo. Mild hot water. There is a small open air in the back, but there is no view (=_=) There was also a sauna, but it wasn't hot due to a mistake by the staff. Dinner is a full course French meal. I wasn't expecting much, but the food was decent and tasted good. The wine was also plentiful and I was satisfied. However, I chose Japanese food for breakfast, but it was not delicious. Is miso soup, let alone rice, less than instant? Would it have been better to choose Western food? Check-out is at 12:00, so you can go to the Dogo Onsen main building in your yukata. You can also rent baskets and towels. It was at a time when most of the staff were trainees, so it was not possible to evaluate them.

This is an inn that impresses with its polite hospitality. The food is also of the quality of a Japanese restaurant and inn. I think it's probably on purpose, but there are many citrus-inspired dishes, and the taste is light, so people who drink alcohol may be a little unsatisfactory. I think it would be better to make the bland sea bream a little more salty and soupy. The customer service staff are all young and many of them are naive, but I had the impression that they were well educated. The baths are small on the 10th floor with an observation bath and a rooftop open-air bath, but there is no problem. The person who checked us out at the end was also polite and wonderful.

Wow did we luck out. My daughters and I discovered Cinnamon House by chance and will never stay anywhere else in Matsuyama. Pristine, cool, laid back. Shimpei-san is cool with great English. He actually drove my car up the hill to the free parking so I would know how to find it later. This place is a gem, just steps from Dogo Onsen. Our 3-person traditional Japanese room was immaculate. Air-conditioned. The only drawback is that it's not wheelchair accessible. Guitar on site, kitchen / fridge / free coffee (make your own), tea, and biscuits. Free little shampoos and conditioners to bring to the onsen. In and out privileges all nite. Get here!

I stayed in a separate room on the 5th floor. The Dogo Onsen Honkan is in front of you, and you can see it from the open-air bath in your room, giving you a special feeling. The location is perfect near Dogo Onsen, but it's a shame because of the unfriendlyness of the inn's mother. There is no greeting. When I went around 15:30, I was told by a stick that ”Check-in is at 16:00”. The price is cheap and there is no other inn for pets, so I can't complain much ... Moreover, there is no charge for pets (of course, there is no pet goods). The facility is also Showa retro and old, and there are no heavy futons these days. There is no shower in the bath (there are men), and the hot water coming out of the faucet is a little bit, and it is difficult to wash the body. Many are shared toilets. A poor thing that doesn't even come out of hot water like a washbasin. It would be impossible if the whole was not renovated ... The room is up to the ４ floor. Of course there is no elevator. Meals are served in the room (because there is no dining room). The food is not special, but there are many items and I thought I couldn't get it at this price. The taste was good.

The dormitory was often used, but the minimum privacy was maintained. There was no curtain in the bed, and it was in a state of round view for anyone at any time. There is no outlet or pillow light in each bed. This is very inconvenient. However, the power supply is in each individual locker. But far and troublesome. If you have a room on the fourth floor, you don't have an elevator in an old building if you don't have luggage on the stairs. However, the location is good, and it can be walked to the hot spring without worrying even in the time zone where there are few hot spring users, because it can be walked to the hot spring in a few minutes. There is also a free Wi-Fi, but the fourth floor was not available at all. The parking lot is difficult to understand, so I think it is better to contact by phone when you get near the hotel.

Just a 2 minute walk away from the famous Honkan, Hakuro Hotel was one of the best hotel experiences of Japan. Compared to a business hotel I am writing from now which is more than double the price and has a horrible service, the Hakuro Hotel exceeded all expectations. - The staff is super kind, despite limited English they really go out of their way to help you. - The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have had in Japan. Lots of seasonal fresh fruits and wide choice of really good food. - Parking on the premises was easy and fair (1000¥ for a night) and right in front of of the hotel with parking spots that actually fit a large Vellfire. - The Onsen was modern and just perfect to soak in after a long hiking day. - The amenities were great (nice yukata etc.) Next time in town, we will definitely come back here.

Before you go: it is good to speak some Japanese. I tried to book it directly with the ryokan so I could choose a menu plan but the English version of the website was not showing available dates and the Japanese version was not allowing to enter a non-Japanese phone number. I emailed them (in Japanese) and was able to get a reservation with the meal plan of my choice (breakfast and dinner and some special side dishes). We stayed at what I think is called superior Japanese room. It was very spacious. Besides the onsen on the first floor, the room itself has a large ofuro. Meals were served in our room. I liked this for breakfast but missed seeing people around dinner time. The onsen dowstairs has two large baths, one is closed and the other is open with rocks and vegetation around. A glass window separates them. After the onsen, there is self-service beer and/or ice-cream. The food was amazing! But I think I went overboard in ordering the special sea bream sashimi. We stayed two days there, relaxing at the onsen after climbing the Matsuyama castle ramp/steps or after cycling the Shimanamikaido in Imabari (about 40 minutes from Matsuyama) felt like heaven. The staff was extremely warmth and professional. In this place you will see the true Japanese hospitality ”omotenashi”.

I remembered and revisited 20 years ago when I was introduced to an acquaintance.The Japanese room was renovated and became a large and beautiful modern Japanese room. The public bath is normal, but the dinner buffet was delicious with western meat dishes. I think glass wine (red) was also selected for good quality. It may be a little insufficient for Japanese food lovers, but specialty such as licking is also available. It was a pity that FreeWiFi was difficult to connect, but I was impressed by the shaving of the amenities in the bath. I think that the attitude toward the user is expressed in such a place.
