Our experience was the same as mentioned in the below post from Kelly W. When we entered the room, there was an extremely strong smell of bleach, so the cleaners had been there, but the floor was not clean. I requested a renovated or updated room due to some of the comments and we were told ours was. It was dated, basic and it was clear the owner didn’t really care. The kitchen was old, it was a challenge to cook, ensuite door didn’t close, artwork fallen off the wall and the beds were hard, the worst we have sleep on while on holidays. The pools are great, and the reason you would consider coming here The location is also great, it’s very low-key and not as crowded as other areas of the GC. Unfortunately, I think that the days of this place being full of holidaymakers is behind it. For such a busy period there was only ever up to 10 families or couples across to massive pools, and it became obvious that most of the units now are owned, not holiday rentals. I suspect this is why many comments around the average condition of the units and unfortunately it just didn’t have a holiday vibe over Christmas. Unfortunately, it felt well short of our expectations.

Good location, best thing is 24 hour check-in!! Instead of other places where you book in $160/nightly X 2 & $200 deposit $150/1 night stay without that!! There's the positive. Negative? Bed uncomfortable which being a big issue for me with a bad back. Harder to get a good night's sleep a very important factor of staying in an accommodation outlet. The bathroom with a shower & bath without safety rails was another issue -but for a short stay as it was when the vacancy came about it was alright for 1 night?
Sunshine Beach Resort

We stayed for 7 nights in room 27. It was very clean and perfect for what we needed, with a TV, fridge, kettle, toaster, fresh linen and towels, although the bed was quite uncomfortable. The room itself was a bit dark and dated but we can see the rooms are undergoing an upgrade so I’m sure this one will be done in time. The BBQ was great and always clean, the pool was brilliant and location to everything (including Coles 200m down the road) is perfect! The staff are all friendly and accommodating, and their little dog is gorgeous. If you are looking for awesome coffee we found a tiny caravan across the road at the Miami Caravan Park behind the surf club - amazing brew and lovely ladies!

Such a welcome to our cabin! aircon on which was so appreciated as it was hot and steamy on arrival. Ceiling fan on in main bedroom also. Bed extremely comfy, choice of pillows were tops. Surprise upgrade, totally unexpected as we had not requested it. Thanks to the staff for making our time away all that we could have wanted. So close to shops, restaurants, beach & public transport. Swimming pool well used too.
