How should I put it? I have always had high requirements for hotels, but this experience really exceeded my expectations. For some reasons, I had to spend the New Year alone this year. I didn't want to go to a busy place, so I finally chose Nantong, the only D-level tourist city in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. I don't know what Nantong is like, but Nantong InterContinental is like a corner forgotten by the world, just quiet enough. The hotel covers a large area, with endless lawns. I stayed on the lawn downstairs from the room for a whole day, doing nothing, just feeling the slow flow of time. The hotel and Binzhou Park are separated by only a very narrow road. It's only a few steps away. The sunset sinks into the river, and the sky changes from golden to crimson. The whole winter seems to have become warmer. This trip was decided on the spur of the moment, and the New Year's Eve dinner was not arranged in advance. It was not until the New Year's Eve that I thought about going to the hotel buffet to eat something casually. However, when I called, I got the reply that the seats were full. At that moment, I felt a little disappointed. There was a lively reunion all around, but I didn't even have a place to eat. Later, I went to the front desk to try to communicate, and the hotel staff helped contact the restaurant, but there was still no vacancy. She handed me a fluffy goose and said that it could accompany me for the New Year. When dinner time was approaching, I called again with the last bit of hope, but I didn't expect that the restaurant actually reserved a seat for me. At that moment, my heart suddenly became lighter, as if I was gently accepted by the world on New Year's Eve in a foreign land. After dinner, I went to the mini bar, asked for a glass of wine, and sat by the window and drank it slowly. Outside the window was the quiet river water, and behind me was a strange and warm voice. The loneliness of spending the New Year alone seemed to be filled with this little light. The next day, because of the train time, I wanted to stay in the hotel for a while longer, and tried to apply for a delayed check-out. Unexpectedly, it was agreed very readily. At that moment, I felt that I seemed to be treated well, not just as a guest, but more like being treated as a real guest. This trip to Nantong was much warmer than I imagined. I spent the New Year alone, while they were still busy working and treating people seriously, which made an originally lonely holiday a little warmer. I will definitely come again in March and April. Next time, I want to stay in the hotel's small villa and feel the unique tranquility of this city again.
