I only stayed in the small island of Naxos for one night and chose the hotel Astir of Naxos. It takes about 25 minutes to walk from the port to the hotel. It is better to walk along the small road on the other side of the sea. The road is relatively flat and there is no need to climb up and down. The hotel is about 5 minutes away from the large sandy beach Agios Georgios Beach and the 2-storey Super Market Koutelieris. It is said that this is the largest supermarket in Greece 🇬🇷, where you can buy a lot of food produced in Greece. Here I bought Greek biscuit bars, coffee powder and honey from Coffee Island, a large chain coffee shop in Greece. When checking in, the hotel gave us a glass of alcoholic lemon welcome drink. The staff is also very friendly. They gave us a map, patiently explained the nearby places to go, and gave us the bus schedule. The hotel is 2 floors high and there is no elevator 🛗. It will be a bit painful to live on the 2nd floor with large luggage. The room design is very environmentally friendly ♻️. At first, I thought the air conditioner was broken and couldn't be turned on. When I walked to the reception, the staff asked me if I had closed the window, and she said that I had to close the window first to turn on the air conditioner. I find it odd that she said that. then she Come to the room to demonstrate, and sure enough, the windows are closed tightly, and the air-conditioning is turned on! This is the first time I have seen a hotel room with this design! So special! There are 3 single beds in the room, which are so wide that you can open 2 large suitcases at the same time. There is a small terrace with 2 chairs 🪑 and a table, which can look out to the street outside the hotel, which is open but not worth admiring. The bathroom is like other Greek hotels, with a small piece of tank glass, and the water will splash and wet the whole bathroom when taking a shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. are available in small bottles of the Fillos of Sea Nature brand. The overall feeling of the room is a bit old, but clean and reasonable. The hotel has a swimming pool, but it is not a heated pool. When I went in June, the water was still a bit freezing. Breakfast is provided and can be enjoyed by the pool. Third time and still the favorite of the Greek hotels we have stayed at. The staff is extremely professional, warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel location perfect-away from the traffic and noise of downtown, but a five minute walk to the beach, the square, a big supermarket, tons of shops, cafes & bakeries, and a ten minute walk gets you to the waterfront with what seems like hundreds of dinner choices. The condition and upkeep of the hotel is top notch, mature flowering trees and shrubs are everywhere, the grounds are meticulously maintained, rooms are spotless and contain thoughtful amenities to enhance your stay (that we wished other hotels had) coffee making in room, safe boxes, makeup mirror, shelf space in the bathroom for your toiletries and comfortable outdoor shady spaces. This was our third visit (2014, 2016, and 2023). It won’t be our last. Our only very minor items we would love to see added are: More hooks in the bathroom, more hooks in the bedroom and fresh cooked to order eggs at the breakfast buffet.

We were so fortunate to spend two weeks at Ippokampos. It was probably our best holiday yet which is subjective but we have travelled a lot. Ippokampos is all about the location and yes you pay for it but you get it. Just a gentle 10 minutes from the centre of Town passing so many shops and restaurants along the way that you don’t notice the short trip. The rooms are quite basic so don’t expect any frills. There is a supermarket just 50 metres away to get whatever you need. For us the real stars, apart form the fantastic location, was the Assistant Manager, Loannis, who was everywhere pretty much night and day making sure that things happened. In the restaurant, Dimitra made breakfast each day something to look forward to. She is another of the super staff that worked tirelessly to make the holiday one to remember. George at the sun beds was a delight to chat to. In the words of the Hollywood star – we will be back!

This is overall a lovely hotel. We had a large room with a queen size bed that was very comfortable. The room had a nice balcony with a hot tub but there was no view. The bathroom was a good size with lots of hot water and good pressure. Breakfast was excellent. The only draw back was the location. It is not far from town but is down a road that does not have any sidewalks or lights. During the day it isn't bad but at night it was nerve wracking. The restaurants are in town and we were concerned about walking in the dark. The up side is that it is close to the beach. The staff were very helpful - especially Adele
