This place is simply exceptional. For a start, it's beautifully done ... It is like being at home (well, a very classy and extremely friendly home). Our room was elegant and comfortable. The lounge and breakfast room are lovely areas. And then there's the speakeasy, a cosy space for an evening drink where you can surprise people in the bar by appearing through the wall. But what really sets this hotel apart is the experience. All the staff were super friendly and genuinely interested in their guests. They would give recommendations, were keen to hear what we'd been up to, and just enjoyed having a chat. Then there are the little touches like wine & cheese in the evenings, not to mention the cookies. And of course the coffee brought to the room every morning. When you stay here, you're also able to use the facilities at The Barnett across the street. We did use both the gym (in need of some maintenance) and the pool (super crowded by people on day passes) - if you're hovering between the two, absolutely book Maison Metier, it's worth the extra money and you will appreciate the luxury. The only thing to flag is we had a bit of confusion over the bill at the end, I think because we had booked before it was taken on by Hyatt - but nothing a couple of quick calls afterwards couldn't sort out. Location is great too. Close enough to the action, but able to switch off from it too! In summary, I've been fortunate enough to stay in some wonderful hotels all around the world and this is definitely Top 3 for me.
