Ngorongoro Hotels with Bars

he Serena hotels are excellent and a class above the other hotels we stayed during our Safari. Location, location, location. Serena has an unparalled view of the Ngorngoro crater and each room has a balcony overlooking the crater. This is a great location for a base for Safaris to the crater. We ordered a packed picnic breakfast, which was the best picnic food /packed food we had from any hotel during our Safari, including hot coffee, and tea, and food (including vegetarian) that we enjoyed at a picnic spot within the crater. Lunch and dinner service were excellent, thanks to Erick and the team. Lunch was a set menu which included vegetarian options. Excellent bread, salad and soups. At dinner, the bread, and soups were brought to the table, with an excellent buffet including main course, salads and desserts. Truly a cut above the other food and service we have had on our safari.

Our stay at The Retreat at Ngorongoro was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning views, the serene atmosphere, and the warm hospitality. The accommodation was impeccable—beautifully designed, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail, from the luxurious bedding to the thoughtful amenities, was perfect. We can’t recommend The Retreat at Ngorongoro enough! It’s a slice of paradise and the perfect blend of luxury and nature. We’ll cherish the memories we made here and can’t wait to return.

The lodge is really like out of a movie. It is located on a remote Kopje (island rock) in the Northern Serengeti, build into the rocks. The premises are teaming with hyax animals (furry relatives to elephants ?!) and the occasional visiting baboon troupe. It is hardly possible to imagine a more special setting, where you can watch animals below from the pool. Staff was very kind and friendly and also the food was tasty.
