So könnte man getrost das entzückende Resort Khoom Kam Kaew (vorher Doi Farang) im Norden Thailands bezeichnen, das vom Deutschen Michael seit 25 Jahren umsichtig und charmant geleitet wird. Sechs Steinbungalows und zwölf zu Wohneinheiten umgebaute Reisspeicher werden hier angeboten, alle gelegen in einer 3,5 Hektar großen Gartenlandschaft. Der inzwischen in Reparatur befindliche Pool ist uns nicht abgegangen, eine schattige Terrasse unseres Bungalows hat uns voll entschädigt. Das Resort liegt zwar sieben Kilometer außerhalb von Phrao, aber die gratis zur Verfügung gestellten Fahrräder haben uns Mobilität geboten, abgesehen von der körperlichen Ertüchtigung (wir waren insgesamt drei Monate in Thailand unterwegs - mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln bzw. Taxis). Michael bietet neben dem inkludierten (guten) Frühstück auch eine Thai-"Abendkarte" an, einmal sogar mit einem europäischen Ausreißer "Schweinsschnitzel mit Pommes und Salat". Das von uns so geschätzte Chang-Bier durfte natürlich nicht fehlen. Eine hervorragende Eigenproduktion ist der Peach Wine. Köstlich! Wenn man einen kleinen Umweg nach Phrao nicht scheut ist es das allemal wert. Wir kamen von Chiang Dao per Songthaew, (Busverbindung gibt es nicht mehr).
