UPD: We Created a detailed YouTube review of the resort, demonstrating all facilities of the resort. Just Type in YouTube Search: ”Mida Grande Resort Phuket | Honest Review | Surin Beach” ______________________________________________________ Now, shortly about the place: the resort was built just before covid and it's cool, everything is so new. Also, there are plenty of facilities, gyms, a library, 6 swimming pools, a kids' room with a nanny, lounge bars, saunas, etc. BUT! The management of the hotel is not good (yet). The check-in time is constantly delayed (the official check-in is at 2 pm, but we were told to wait at least till 4 pm!). Rooms not cleaned properly. No forks/plates in the rooms with the kitchen....you have to go to reception and ask for them.

We picked these apartments because we have been away for a few weeks and wanted the flexibility that an apartment gives you over a hotel. We were two couples and picked a three bedroom apartment so that we had at least two bathrooms, we got an apartment on the top floor which had a lovey big balcony and an upstairs roof terrace that was huge, with great views and table and chairs, etc, we had breakfast up there every morning, it was great. There's a really nice swimming pool too. There was the odd thing that was a bit tired, like the handle on one of the bi-fold doors was missing a screw so was hanging off, but generally this property is of an excellent standard.

The hotel is just off a street and open space on a commercial street in Surin Beach, just a few minutes from the beach. The rooms are on the second and third floors. The first floor is a restaurant that serves three meals. The breakfast can be served on the menu, which is very good. Service attitude is very good.

Surin Beach
This is the best of more than 10 hotels I have stayed in during my 36-day trip to Bangkok and Phuket! Later, Surin Beach, and even the main island of Phuket, can be the first choice: 1. Positive evaluation (1) About the hotel itself 1. Good location: 350 meters from Surin Beach bus stop and 500 meters from the beach 2. Quiet: The sound of the road after closing the window does not affect sleep, even I sleep with the window open, especially after 12 o'clock. Although the hotel has a rectangular cross section and the long side is perpendicular to the road, there is no room facing away from the road. 3. Good supporting facilities: diagonally across from 711, next to massage shop, restaurant, pharmacy, fruit stand (80 baht per kilo of mango, I only bought one 30 baht, and gave me two small bananas) 4. The front desk has good English and good service attitude 5. There is also a large restaurant/café at a reasonable price 6. No deposit (2) Regarding room 604 1. This location, internal and external environment, 150 yuan is very cost-effective. 2. The decoration is very new. 3. Large area: It feels more than 30 square meters. The bathroom is large, and there are a few boards on the wall for more stuff. 4. There are balconies, quite large, with good views, including mountain views, city views, and a small part of the sea view 5. The ventilation is very good, and there will be obvious polite convection after opening the doors and windows, probably because of the orientation (door east, window west). Convection is really powerful, without turning on the air conditioner. But don't open the door when it rains, the wind will blow the rain to the door. Drying clothes can be done overnight and facing the sun faster. 6. The air conditioner is small and new, especially the remote control feels good. Cannot hear the sound of the outside machine 7. The shower has strong hot water and can be adjusted in a large range. The nozzle can be moved, so I can use hot water to promote blood circulation. 8. The bed is big. 9. The room is fully equipped and has everything that should be. (1) There are medium-sized refrigerators, which only make some noises for a long time, which does not constitute an impact. (2) A horizontal board is also designed in front of the mirror of the writing desk, which is convenient for putting things, such as cosmetics. (3) There is also a small square table and 2 chairs with backrests, which is convenient for me to use a laptop. (4) There is a sofa. (5) There is a big closet 10. The floor tiles of the bathroom are very non-slip, even after a lot of water on the floor. 11. Lots of lights 12. Wifi is stable, laptop and mobile phone can be connected at the same time, no need to re-authenticate when going out, and the Internet is not slow 2. Negative evaluation (1) About the hotel itself 1. No problem (2) Regarding room 604 (The following are minor issues) 1. Wifi is very slow to transfer photos (100kb/s). I use true move card to establish hotspot transfer, which can be 2-5mb/s. This is the case in all hotels in Phuket. 2. There is only one trash can in the toilet. 3. It is convenient if you don't need to insert a card to get electricity.

Surin Beach
This was our first visit to Thailand and we went during the Easter holidays. The hotel is 100 yds from Surin Beach, which is stunning. The whole look of the hotel is very 'Thai / Buddhist'. It looks amazing. Not a huge hotel, but fantastic large clean rooms and 2 great pools. We had a pool access suite. No issues at all with direct entery into to the pool. Very handy to cool off. Big bedroom with a very big separate lounge where our 12 year old slept. Enormous bathroom. We popped into a few other local hotels and noticed that they were all busy but the amtmosphere is quiet and laid back (even though there were a lot of kids). Pool bar was great for lunch and drinks but only operated 12 -6. The main restaurant is the Oriental Spoon. Great breakfast and it was open for dinner (I have seen some reviews where it has not been open for dinner - which is very odd for a 5* hotel). Staff were wonderful and you're greeted with a welcome cocktail and a garland of flowers. We were Bed and Breakfast and we found the prices of food and drink to be a bit cheaper then the UK. e.g. A beer is around £3 Surin beach just across the road and is stunning, but as with most beaches in Thailand they're public beaches and they don't allow sundbeds or bars etc. Instead a little 'village' has sprung up at the back of the beach with sunbeds and 20+ pop up restauarnts and shops. To be honest, its a little bit grotty. We had lots of walks along this beach but didn't really stay on it. The hotel runs shuttle buses to its sister hotel the Monte Azure and 2 beach clubs in Bang Tao. Its about a 10 miunte drive to the beach clubs and they are great. I'll do a sepaate review of Catch Beach club and the Lazy coconut. I do have a couple of negative points but I thinks its more Phuket as we noticed these issues in several hotels. 1. Aircon. Rooms are no problem, but reception and the restauarnt have no walls so you're technically outside (even if you don't realise it). Therefore no AC. This was the same in every hotel we visisted not just the Twinpalms. In April it was around 32 degrees and very humid. Not unbearable but def. not comfortable. This might be a reason for for my second issue. 2. Very quiet in the evenings. The restarants shut at 9.30pm and there isn't a bar. We sometimes like to have a few beers at the end of the night but this wasn't an option. We don't stay out late but nothing to do after 9.30 felt a little stange. Again this was in every hotel we visisted. Just very low key! All in all it still a 5 star review and we would def. go back now we know what to expect.
