The owner, Carl, will entertain you with lots of stories. He is fun and colourful. Unfortunately Jeff was out of town while we stayed at the inn so we didn’t have the opportunity to meet him. The building alone is fabulous. Ask for a tour of the once was restaurant in the back that remains in tack. Through the renovation, Jeff and Carl kept the integrity of this gorgeous home. The beds were so comfortable (and ample fluffy pillows); rooms are very spacious. Bonus - the rooms have a small fridge. But you will need to bring your own amenities such as body cream (and conditioner if you are staying in the front room). You don’t stay here for the breakfast, you stay here for the luxury of being in a 1800’s revamped mansion. And enjoying the very warm and friendly owners. (I get the feeling that Jeff is just as great as Carl.)

This was a great property, with nicely decorated rooms. Jeff and Karl (owners) are very knowledgeable on the city and neighborhood. They took great pride in having things set and ready for guest. I would certainly recommend this place if visiting for a game or anything on the north side of Pittsburgh.

Gah!! What can I say, this place is AMAZING!!!!! Location is excellent, so many places to visit and eat within walking distance made it the perfect location. The owners, Jeff and Karl are the sweetest, friendliest people who were super helpful in giving us information about the neighborhood and recommendations for food and sights. We will DEFINITELY stay here the next time we are in Pittsburgh!!

This was our first stay on the near north side and we wanted to experience a new neighborhood. The Inn has been wonderfully restored to resemble its' former glory. The rooms are decorated in peiod pieces and clearly care has been taken to make things comfortable. An important note is that the rooms are on the second and third floors, so be prepared to climb some steps. We were upgraded to a larger room upon our arrival and it had a full kitchen, though we planned to dine out the evening we stayed. If there is one suggestion I could offer, it is providing a more full serve breakfast. For the most part the offerings were continental and fend for yourself. We select B&Bs in many of the cities we visit and generally are impressed by the wondered morning breakfasts provided. We hope that some thought is given to making this happen here.

Extremely clean property with great hosts. Architecture and history of the Inn is amazing. They did great job keeping to the feel of the original era, however, some areas could use some minor repair/replacement.

We visited Pittsburgh because we wanted to take in the Pompeii exhibit at the Carnegie science Center. We stayed at the inn on the Mexican war streets because it was within walking distance to the science center as well as being within walking distance to many places to eat. Carl was a wonderful host who kept us totally entertained with his many stories.

Karl, our Inn Keeper host was lovely. He gave us a call prior to arrival to explain an upgrade to a King room overlooking the city. The Inn is amazing. The room was perfect. The location is charming - we walked to a great coffee shop just a couple blocks down the street. I highly recommend the Inn and the area.

Wonderful stay. The historichal property is amazing. Karl is a walking encyclopedia who was behind every detail. It is not easy to restore a building of this type, but they have done a great job. I would certainly come back
