The pub itself is closed at the moment so entry was around the back met by three friendly ladies taken to our room spacious and clean very comfortable bed great shower in the morning lovely fluffy towels I would definitely stop again and would recommend it hope it keeps going plenty of pubs around it

Booked this HOTEL (using the word loosely) for a relative who needed a bed for the night. Prepaid and on arrival the gentleman (again I use the word loosely) was prodding him saying “you homeless, I have problems with homeless”. The accommodation was squalor and not worth the £70 paid. On departure there’d was no one around so the key was left in the room. He rang my relative screaming that he was going to phone police until he was asked to look in the room. I have seen pictures of the accommodation and to be honest I would rather sleep on a bus station floor than the hovel that this accommodation is. In all my years as a reviewer this is the only time I have given one star

Very outdated, literally hasn't come out the 60/70s. Bed was ridiculously uncomfortable glad I had a few drinks. Could not stay sober to sleep in it, I've seen better decorated prison cells. Honestly walked into the bathroom for a shower and walked out, ever seen the horror film Psycho. Well the resemblance is uncanny. Paid for breakfast, no sign of breakfast or mention of it It was however clean, I don't know how the cleaner does it but they need some kind of award. Bits falling off the boiler as you walk up the stairs. It's not great but it was like £30 or something, I think £15/20 a night is more realistic

When I booked this hotel for a one night stay on a Saturday night, I must be honest, I didn't read the reviews (lesson learnt). When I arrived to book in, I parked on the road right in front of the hotel, where I could see a note on the front door saying "closed" please call this number for attention. I was eventually met by a very polite and friendly gentleman of Greek Cypriot origin whose name was Peter. He showed me where to park at the back of the hotel where, immediately alarm bells started to ring by the site of the place, it looked like a rubbish tip. On entering the "Hotel" I walked across a sticky dance floor/bar and up some narrow stairs to my room, as we approached the room he said, "I must warn you that on Saturday nights we have a disco downstairs which goes on to 2am! I went out and walked around the town, grabbing an evening meal, back at the hotel at 9pm. All quiet so far, after a long drive from North Wales, I decided to call it a night and went to bed about 9.30pm, drifted off to blissful sleep. I awoke suddenly at 10.10pm by extremely loud music (my bed and the floor were literally vibrating). I lasted about an hour before I got up and wend out to find the nearest express store and bought myself a bottle of wine in order to dumb my senses, just so I could get some sleep! As explained the music eventually stopped at 2am, but then was followed by the screeching and shouting of inebreated party goers on the street below my window. I did not get to sleep until approx 4am. The room was clean but pretty basic (what I expected for the price), there was no running hot water except for the shower, no plastic cup to rinse your mouth out after brushing ones teeth. No instructions about what time breakfast was being served (found out in the morning that they don't offer breakfasts). When I was ready to check out at 08;00hrs, I went downstairs to find the place all locked up and no one in sight!! So I just placed the keys in the door lock of my room and left. This is the worst experience in my entire life of staying in a "hotel" and I use the term loosely ! The place is literally just a night-club with budget rooms above. Guys and Gals, if you value your sleep, then please do not stay here!!!!

The Hotel looks fine from the outside but once you go through the doors it’s truly awful. Stairs are narrow, steep and dangerous. The room was en suite but the bathroom was covered in dust and mould. The bed was very uncomfortable and only two of the four pillow had pillow cases. None of the side lights worked, only the main bulb. The hotel was advertised as food available, there wasn’t any but to be honest, we couldn’t have eaten there, it was too filthy. Please don’t t stay here, the hotel has no redeeming features at all.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel, in particular the General Manager - William McLean. We had 2 family members unexpectedly taken to hospital 2 days before our arrival at Barley Mow. I emailed the hotel to say we were not cancelling, and explained the situation, and asked what the cancellation policy would be if we did have to cancel or if we were able to re-schedule for 2-3 weeks time. I had no reply, except an email to confirm full payment £732 had been taken from our account (2 days before we were due to arrive). We then called and said as you have taken full payment without explanation, could we re-schedule for 2-3 weeks' time due to the unwell family members. We were told this is no problem at all, and just to call when we need to re-book for. We then got a call from William to say he could no longer honour this as they needed the money, so if he could fill our rooms, he'd refund us but if he couldn't at this short notice, he had to keep the full £732. We said this is not fair as we were told we can re-schedule, and he agreed his colleague needed staff training and shouldn't have honoured that. We then said we will keep the booking and try to come up even though our family members were in hospital. I then confirmed the cancellation policy I had stated that any cancellations after the 25th February would be a £366 cost. We sent this to William, and he said this is a misunderstanding and not written correctly by the agent we booked through. We said this isn't our fault and we feel should be honoured but it wasn't. We will be avoiding Barley Mow at all costs for our frequent visits to Burnley and we have found somewhere much more accommodating for us in 2 weeks time, and future visits.
