Sofitel Lyon Bellecour

2nd arr.La Presqu'ile
We stayed at a double room in the Sofitel in Lyon for a total of 3 nights in the summer of 2023. The hotel is located just a few streets from the Place Bellecour which is one of the main squares in Lyon. It is also about 5 minutes away from many cafes, bistros and a large supermarket (Monop’) near Place Bellecour. The room itself was a fairly standard double room (approximately 20 square metres). The interior and furnishings of the hotel look a bit dated but they were fine and did not matter in any material way. The minibar is complimentary and it is restocked daily with bottled water (still and sparkling), fruit juice, coca cola, and dried fruits and nuts. The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were firm. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not very consistent and it would turn off in the middle of the night. It is not an issue if you are staying here in the winter but it made it difficult to sleep at night in the summer. The staff were all very nice and pleasant. The concierge was especially friendly and he helped us to store our bags and arrange for a taxi to the train station on our last day. We paid approximately EUR250 a night and we thought it was worth the price.

Even though we Absolutely Could Not go to our room before check in (but we could leave our bags)(the French & their rules!) this hotel was fabulous. Great location, efficient welcome, lovely bar, a swim or sauna if we’d fancied, a huge room with a comfortable huge bed, decent sized bathroom-oh yes it was all there-& the best bit-a massive window the whole width of the room, which you could completely open & if you’re on the 7th floor, superb views of Chambery & surrounding mountains. Magic.

This apartment very well located in the heart of Val claret is pleasant, bright, is very well laid out. The view of the massif is unobstructed. There is enough storage for four people and the bedding is of good quality.

5th arr.Vieux Lyon
This is such a wonderful gem of a hotel, it makes Lyon feel like a holiday home almost immediately. The front desk staff was only too happy to open the door to greet you, they are located in their own cozy corner on the ground floor, rather spartan because everything else - bar, breakfast spot, cocktail lounge - is up the stairs. The hotel may look deceptively quiet but we have stayed in such places where you feel like you have the whole place to yourself, when actually, it does have other hotel guests. Perched on the ancient Fourviere hills and two minutes down the slope from the Roman amphitheatre, the location is within walking distance to the Notre Dame as well as the funicular down to Vieux Lyon. The pool is really relaxing after a whole day of exploring the walking city, and has a fabulous spa of steam and sauna and massage services (book ahead). We checked in slightly earlier and were redirected to the cafe with a wide view of the city and rivers. Food was excellent. The concierge team is very friendly - Francois, Julien and Alvaro can quickly suggest and advise and research for you. Francois sorted out a dinner reservation for me where I had booked the wrong date and purchased extra meal vouchers. A really lovely time, we are telling everyone to go to Lyon now.

Myself and my two teenage children stayed for 5 nights. The location of the hotel is ideal in the centre of Tignes 2100 just 5 min walk from the ski lifts and facilities. The spa and boot room on the bottom floor is well set up for preparing for skiing and some relaxation. The family room was comfortable if ia little tight and in need of little updating. It had a balcony and great view of the slopes. We stayed on a half board basis and my 2 children are Coeliac (severe gluten allergy). The hotel staff including the chef could not have been more accomodating - including cooking a separate dish for my daughter on request - and we were all able to enjoy lovely meals without issue. We also took advantage of the 'dine around' capability with one of the other hotels and the food was similarly excellent and accommodating of our circumstances. The staff helped us with everything from sourcing ski passes, organising transfers and receiving amazon parcels. They were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for a very comfortable stay in a relaxed friendly atmosphere with access to the ski slopes.

Excellent apartment with everything you need for a nice winter holiday in Tignes without breaking the bank. The two levels (living room/kitchen on ground floor plus bed room on second) of the apartment ensure you have plenty of space. The location is exce
