Hotels Near Cachoeira da Gruta (Solar da Imperatriz) in Rio de Janeiro

We stayed here for a 5-day visit to Rio over New Year. The location is great for access to Copacabana and Ipanema, and the roof-top pool is a big bonus, although more sunbeds would be beneficial. Our room was windowless, but was big enough for 2 and the wifi and air con worked well. The bed could do with being replaced but no major issues. Overall a good pick of hotel for exploring Rio.

I stayed in the hotel for the commitment I had because it was close. As it was one night only, I chose to book. The room was very dirty, sabble paper open in the pier, all dirty. 2 towels, 1 was acceptable and the other was completely swept and damaged. I put it on the floor because I had no courage to use it. The bed is horrible and noisy, and the dressers too. Have you seen a short shirt? Yes, it was so much to cover up to half the body and thinnerly impossible. I had nothing but that shirt to cover. Summary: I didn't sleep anything, super discomfortable. It's all about all the rooms, bad clothing. Coffee is half mouth, but in any case I've seen worse. The only positive point is that the reception official called ”D”. When we arrived at the hotel, we were surprised by the information that the system was out of the air and would take a little, then the same offered us 2 courtesy drinks for the event. The only thing I liked at the hotel, but you're only reserved in the last case if you don't want to get angry.

I was hosted in this hotel last weekend - 02 to 03/07/2022. I have contacted me, and Mrs Vanessa has answered me, she kept the forgotten pieces, and the next day she sent me for Sedex with great delight and sympathy, and I would like to congratulate her on the sensitivity and empathy shown by that person. All the staff very careful and efficient.

We were given the worst room in the hotel to start with. No window, small double bed… after we complained they moved us to a slightly better room but on the first floor with a window overlooking a car park... There were various issues throughout our stay, such as, the inconvenience of moving rooms, carrying our heavy luggage around. Also, we asked to add one extra day (a 5th day) to our booking. But on the 4th day the key card stopped working because it had not processed through their system that our stay had been extended so we could not get enter our room. So that was another trip downstairs to join the reception queue to try sort it… The breakfast was good, there was a selection of 4 natural fruit juices and the food never ran out and was always fresh. The swimming pool was small and they had a 1 hour slot booking system if you wanted to use it. The pool was crowded; there were people drinking beer in the pool and the water was a bit dirty and too warm. There weren’t enough sun loungers for everyone despite the booking system. They give you beach towels but make sure you know you will be charged if the towel is not returned to them. Checking out was a problem too. Our Uber was almost there to collect us and the hotel staff said they needed to check our room before we could leave, to see if we had consumed anything from the fridge in the room. I paid for the outstanding charges and I told them we hadn’t consumed anything and any issues please call, and I left. She gave me a look as I was leaving as if I was doing something wrong. Finally, I am still waiting for the reimbursement of the deposit I had to pay (500 reais) at check in - it’s now been 3 weeks. While we were there, I heard a couple at reception complaining about their car - the car park at the hotel was apparently full and the owner did not want his car to be parked elsewhere. Oh and lastly: I would say good evening to staff at the front door every time I walked past and NOT ONCE was I greeted in return.

The hotel has excellent quality, I need to highlight the service of the Sara garçon, very friendly, careful and always able to solve. The reception was also great! I will come back more times with my family.

Very good place. I recommend. However, I had the misfortune of staying on the lower floors where the TVs are still old and the sound from the street makes it difficult to rest.

I always book this hotel or the one located opposite. Close to the subway and VLT, which makes getting around easier. I think that depending on the business proposal, coffee could start being served earlier.

I actually had 2 comfortable nights at this hotel but their website just kept on charging my credit card over and over. Thankfully, it showed up on my phone, so I was able to inform the staff and show them the receipt at the time. A very helpful front receptionist said he would contact the finance department and that when I checked out early the next morning' it would all have been rectified. When I went to reception, no one could help and I was told to wait for the manager who would be on duty after my flight left..... So far, no response from this hotel and no money back.I've contacted my credit card provider and so I now have to battle to get my money back. My experience of checking in was in I’m afraid to say, truly awful. I arrived at 5am and the older gentleman checking me in was ignorant. Apparently, he was the ‘English speaker’ on duty and he completely ignored me when I asked a question. I received no information whatsoever about breakfast times, where facilities in the hotel were and he didn’t even have the good manners to look up at me when I checked in, he just opened his hand for my passport. He started huffing and getting obviously irritated when I asked if it were possible to arrange a later breakfast as I wouldn’t be getting to bed u TIL 6am, despite having to pay for the hotel for the night before. The guy actually just ignored me until I asked him directly and he didn’t even look up and said ‘no’ in a really annoyed manner. Great customer service, thanks! Thankfully, when I had need to speak to reception staff during the day, this was a much better experience. I spoke to a young woman and on another occasion a young uni man who were friendly and helpful, so much so, I decided to stay again on my return trip the following week. That was up until they kept charging my credit card, firstly through the own hotels website that said the transaction failed but charged the credit card and then again when duplicate monies had been charged by the hotel. Mistakes happen. It it how quickly and satisfactorily they are sorted that makes the difference between staying there again and avoiding it. Would I recommend staying here? Yes, breakfast is good and the hotel was clean and quiet on the 19th floor. It is dated and could do with updating but it is not bad value when they don’t empty your bank account! Just pay in cash if you’re staying there and avoid that nasty old man on reception who works at night.

Positive Great Location, you are relatively close to everything in walking distance. There is a pharmacy next door, as well as a bakery that has outstanding quality. The rooms are clean and spacious. One of the big pros for me is that there are no carpets, which is a big plus. It avoids any unpleasant smells. Negative Unfortunately, there are a lot more negative comments rather than positive ones. My family and I usually stay at the Grand Hyatt, but due to Covid-19, the hotel was temporarily closed. We were left with no other option but to give this hotel a try. I want to emphasize that this hotel has the potential to be a 4 or 5-star hotel if adjustments are made. Nonetheless, this hotel should be a 3 star. On the first day of arrival, we had wifi. However, on the 2 day of our stay, we no longer had wifi. We contacted the reception desk, and the girls in counter said they were having issues with their wifi due to their guest capacity?!?!?!?!?!?! really? This is a hotel that shouldn't even be an issue. We are in 2020 in 2020 even McDonalds has a reliable WIFI however, Windsor Marapendi did not. After a few days the ”Partial Wifi” was back up, I mean partial because the wifi was only available in the lobby. Just writing this review baffles me with their lack of proper and basic preparation and administration. Wifi was not available during our entire 9-day stay. We stayed on the 13th floor, and again I repeat no wifi in the room. I had to go down to the lobby so I could log in to my laptop to work. How inconvenient and above all this, not one apology and acknowledgment of their lack of proper planning from the hotel, and they didn't even move a finger to make matters right with this nuisance. There was a lack of responsibility and care from the hotel. All they would say is that they are working on it. The hotel charges for the use of an adapter. It's 50 real. Although it's nothing if you convert it to USD, all hotels allow you to borrow an adapter if needed. Especially one that has no wifi. (forgive me, but I can't get over this wifi issue) Breakfast is free, which is a nice thing (especially for a hotel with no wifi), but it's mediocre, your best off going out for breakfast you will have a much better experience. Blowdryer is obsolete. Suppose you want to dry your hair, good luck. Bring your blowdryer. In my case, I had to go out and buy one during my stay. The Reception desk crew needs a complete revamp on professionalism and Customer Service. If you are trying to be a high-end hotel ( Which this hotel is not), Customer service is everything you guest needs to feel welcomed and feel like their needs is cared for regardless of how little or big their needs are. Windsor Marapendi, you have great potential if the criticism is taken and executed for them not to happen again in the future with other guests. You need major improvement. Well located hotel. We were upgraded to a sea view room facing the sea. We should have had a side sea view. Only shame was that we had the antennas located on the roof of the building in front of the room's balcony. We nevertheless had a view of Rio (Botafogo), the Pao d Acucar, the beaches of Niterói, we were close to MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art) After a very hot day, we really enjoyed the heated swimming pool with a jacuzzi. Breakfast was very good. I recommend this hotel.
