There were a few smaller things on the first night which I wasn’t going to mention but since we ended up having such an awful experience, I will • Mould in the shower • Shower opens inward and the panel is so big you can hardly get in or out • The shower water feels like tiny needles hitting you • Wifi isn’t secure (so shouldn’t access anything important) • Staff ended up ignoring messages • No safe in room Upon check in we were advised that the following day they were replacing all windows on the property and we wouldn’t have access to our room - Obviously we weren’t stoked but we didn’t really have any option at that point. So the next day which ended up being 39 degrees were locked out of our room from about 9:30am-2pm (the owner explained they had booked these works in 12 months ago, so had ample time to let anyone with a booking know). When we regained access the room stank of silicone, we opened the windows and also put the aircon on however the smell was so strong it was flaring up my asthma. We left the room and I went to contact *********** and our travel insurer for assistance, *********** advised I need to try work it out directly with the hotel. So we went back to the room (the owner had left by now, had to message him to return) the room was still really bad, by this stage i’d tried my preventive medicine and puffer but I was really struggling to breathe. The owner finally shows up and we try to explain to him that I cannot be in the room/hotel because of the smell, he keeps saying there isn’t a smell but we should wait 30 minutes and it will be gone…. it had already been 90 minutes and no change. He was then accusing me of lying and saying there’s another reason and I’m just making stuff up. We somehow finally got him to agree that for the next 3 nights we had paid for he would refund 2, we go to the front desk where he now decides he’s only going to give 100€ which is far less than 2 nights, then it becomes 50% of the 2 nights…. then he starts getting very aggressive towards us and says you get nothing. My partner was trying to explain to him about asthma and that it’s not our fault they did renovations during our stay, he then got in my partners face (I have evidence). I decided trying to argue with someone like this wasn’t worth it and we left. Thankfully I managed to book a beautiful apartment in a better location, however I’ve now had to wear the cost of two accommodations. I certainly wouldn’t advise staying here, Numa apartments have a fantastic location and amazing customer service if you’re looking for somewhere in Rome. It’s a shame someone can be so dismissive/aggressive over a health issue as had this not have happened we would have stayed even though the bathroom was subpar.
