This stay coincided with the road construction in front of the hotel, the hotel did not place relevant detour instructions, etc. The hotel rooms are small, the facilities are relatively old, and the sound insulation effect is average. It is said that the house is 700 years old. The service attitude at the front desk of the hotel is okay, but the waiter in the restaurant has a very different attitude towards locals and Asian tourists. They have a bad attitude towards Asian tourists and are very indifferent.

The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and has a friendly staff. The house is rather traditional (not modern ”luxury”), but in a positive sense is useful. The room has everything you need, modern and clean (no manko the single-time products in the bathroom, perhaps you could remember donors for soap/douche gel), the balcony offers wonderful views of the surrounding area. Bickets for the beach bath and towels are available in the hotel, a very fine service that allows flexibility. The varied and regionally played breakfast buffet does not open any wishes, the restaurant (also clearly regionally designed) is very recommendable. I'm happy to come back.

Beautiful, classic, old fashioned (the good kind)! - such a lovely getaway! We had a standard hotel room, large in size, a very comfortable bed and just all good. The breakfast was great, well stocked with everyhting our heart desired. The location, the mountains and the lakes and the easy parking etc. Makes the stay even better. One thing we missed was a lighter food option. With a smaller child, the heavy Austrian options were not a hit, and the bar-menu was fun one night, but not every night, so we had to leave the premisses to get something lighter/child friendly/“faster”.

Sehr angenehmes Hotel mit freundlicher Bedienung. Ich hatte als Alleinreisende ein grosses Doppelbettzimmer mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Hell sauber, wunderschönes großes Bad, Bademäntel und eine kleine Kaffeemaschine. Das einzige was ich sehr unangenehm fand war , dass das Frühstücksbuffet in einem kleinen hinteren Winkel des Restaurants untergebracht war und man musste mit den Tellern einen relativ langen Weg bis zur Terrasse gehen . Das war störend. Um ein Tablett musste ich dann bitten , dass ich nicht mehrere male hin und her gehen musste.

All rooms are tastefully furnished in a rustic style and offer wonderful views of the wildlife park and the mountains. The spa area features a sauna, an infrared cabin, a steam bath, warming beds and a relaxation room. The Kleefeld has a cosy dining room with a tiled stove and bar, the new Kleefeldstadl restaurant, 2 children's playgrounds (in the restaurant and outdoors), and a modern seminar room. A wildlife park with about 250 deer, ibexes and many hiking trails is located on Gasthof Kleefeld's grounds. There is also a petting zoo with rabbits, goats and sheep. Fishponds stocked with trout, salmon trout, char and sturgeon supply the restaurant. Enjoy fish and game specialities from the kitchen, as well as wine and schnapps from the cellar.

This hotel is everything you expect from a well established family run Austrian lake side retreat. The protocol of its day to day running is well established and sound, removing the irritations that often come with a newer or badly managed establishment. The staff are well trained and informative. The food offerings are plentiful but not lavish or luxurious. I’ve been to other Austrian hotels where for example, the cold meats and breads at the buffet are of better quality and more abundant. More varieties of fruits and vegetables offered at the juice bar etc. This didn’t detract from the enjoyment for me personally but I mentally noted it and another guest who had been coming to the hotel for many years did say that the quality and quantity of F and B ‘wasn’t what it used to be’. Despite this I still enjoyed it and I am sure the hotel are doing its very best to make it work in a market that is probably more challenging of late in the face of rising costs and local staff shortages. Sometimes I felt like there was a rather meagre and ungenerous edge to some of the services eg charging 1.5 euros for a carafe of tap water at the table (when you didn’t order alcohol/wine), and the buffet choices mentioned above, hence my 4 rather than 5 star rating, however I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others. I appreciated the positive environmental efforts the hotel are going to; a rather officious towel policy (well managed and not onerous) and the avoidance of plastic use. Excellent job. The rooms are super comfy and function well (if you want marble and brand new bathrooms and fixtures, don’t stay in this kind of hotel). The housekeeping is top notch. The spa services and facilities on offer are great. The massage I had was lovely. The staff are super lovely. The price is fair. I really enjoyed my time here. PS we upgraded our room mid stay. The reception assured us it would be an easy and seamless move, all done for us however it wasn’t at all. The porter who came refused to do it for us even though we had been told to the contrary. After throwing our things into a case at top speed we felt rather misled and when I raised it subsequently no one came to explain or apologise. Not a big thing but definitely an easy fix for the hotel - I guess things sometimes get missed or mis communicated.

This is the nightmare hotel experience that people laugh about at dinner parties for years. Not at all funny at the time. FIRST BOUT - I had a $100 BW gift voucher, that stated clearly to produce it at check in. The girl at the desk didn't know what it was. I told her to try a drop down menu for payment? Call a supervisor? She was not up to the task. Dim. Very dim. SECOND BOUT - When I came down for coffee at 7am - the restaurant mgr quickly uncovered everything, turned the lights on. and asked how he could be of service. I said I only wanted coffee, because we were jet lagged. He snapped at me - ”Vhat? Jhoo no vant brekfahst? No, I apologized. Too early. Later maybe. ”I openz za rehstarhant for jhoo... now jhoo say -- jhoo no vant?” I wasn't up for an international incident, so I fled. Later, after we ate, I took a croissant from the breakfast bar to take up to my grand daughter who was suffering terribly from jet lag. She had eaten half an orange, and a bite of her mothers eggs. You would think I robbed the cash drawer. Same loony toon man runs after me to the elevator shouting - ”Jhoo must pay for anozer brekfast!!” What? I reminded him my granddaughter hadn't eaten... Didn't matter. He screamed to the clerk to charge my room for an additional breakfast. Over one croissant - to go. I slammed the croissant down on the counter, telling him to keep it. And I WAS charged another almost $12 -- I filed a complaint with BW and the Owners of the franchise. This isn't a hotel, it's a Hogan's Heroes rerun... complete with jack booted Colonel Klink, monitoring trips to the breakfast bar. INSANE .... quite insane.
