I want to share my recent experience at this hotel, which I regretfully cannot recommend. The hotel has an attractive location but is marred by a lack of basic amenities and poor customer service. During our six-night stay, we discovered on the second morning that there was no hot water. We informed the receptionist, Andy, but were met with a dismissive and rude attitude. We were informed that there would be no hot water for the rest of the day, and this lack of basic amenities was for a total of three days of the six days of our stay. Please note that according to California Civil Code §1940.2, it is the responsibility of the hotel to provide and maintain hot and cold running water for guests. To make matters worse, when we requested to check out early due to this issue, we were offered no refunds as our stay was prepaid on expedia. Expedia told us that the property was to decide while the property said it was expedia.. As I am a hotelier myself, I know it is the hotel’s call in the end. We were offered a shower facility in a separate building which was very inconvenient as we had to walk out of our building and take elevators to get there.. This was not a suitable alternative to the basic amenity that we had paid for. To add insult to injury, at time of check out, Andy offered us only $80 as a refund on a reservation worth over $1500, what a humiliating act, we could not believe it! Better not to offer anything, because really it is a shame to offer this to people.. We were one of the many customers to complain, and we saw that the receptionists had no sympathy towards anyone.. Yes, all businesses are there to make money, but not like this. What they did is close to stealing from someone! I cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers, and I will continue to write on other platforms to warn people..

We chose this hotel as part of a package deal with BA. The location is great, the view from the room and service staff (bell hop, cleaning team etc) we're lovely. There were definitely more cons than pros for this place. We requested a replenishment of tea, creamer and sugar which never arrived. We ordered a $7 croissant which took 45mins to arrive and even after the $6 delivery charge and 15% the bill was $24?! We sent that back. We asked the reception for some advice on a travel ticket, which was wrong. The first day we decided to try breakfast at the hotel, I strongly recommend finding somewhere else. It was almost $100 for 2 classic breakfasts (toast, egg, bacon or sausage) and some OJ, not worth the money AT ALL. When we gave our feedback on checkout, the front of house was dismissive, unapologetic and we are leaving feeling disappointed with that service. Such a shame

I booked in for 2 nights here as a solo female traveller. I had confirmation emails etc. as proof that I had booked a single room - I arrived at the hostel around 6.20pm on a Friday to find I had been placed in a large mixed dorm. The guy on the front desk was polite but totally unhelpful apparently under instruction from his manager. I offered to take any of the female dorms but was told all were sold out. I could not take the bed offered by them in the large mixed dorm, and they offered no like for like alternative. I was told that if i cancelled my stay/didn't check in I would lose my full amount paid as it was outside the cancellation period - they didn't grasp that within the cancellation period I was getting the room I booked, so it wasn't a cancellation on my behalf and was instead them not supplying what was purchased. I wasted so much time here to be offered no help while going through ********** customer support - I eventually gave up at 9:30pm when my employer forked out for a bed in another hotel for me. ********** were meant to get a full refund for me, as they failed to uphold their part of the sale, but 2.5 weeks later I've had or heard nothing from the hostel. To pay for something which is totally unavailable, with no budge room and no option for a refund, is a total scam. Do not book here as a solo female traveller as you will not be respected or safe.

Stayed here for 2 nights and was pleasantly surprised. Prices are quite affordable considering it's in San Francisco. The location was great. I booked this hotel in particular primarily because of its rather close proximity to the BART station. It is indeed only a 10-minute walk from Montgomery station, although if you're arriving from the airport be prepared to drag your bags uphill. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of Chinatown in a rather busy area. I never felt unsafe here, whether evening or early morning, as there are always people milling about minding their own business. If you like walking, you can journey to Fisherman's Wharf within 30 minutes on foot, which is what I did. You can also walk in the opposite direction toward Westfield and Target if you like to shop. There are several bus stops and tram lines nearby. As for the room, it was small but didn't feel cramped. There's no air-conditioning but it was rather chilly in July so I had no issues with heat. No problems with the shower either. Checking in and out were a breeze. I was even able to order food through GrubHub (because most restaurants in that area close at 8 pm even on weekends, which I found out the hard way!) I suppose my only complaint would be that you can definitely hear your neighbors at all times. I could hear someone stomping on the floor above, and sometimes I'd get noise from the rooms adjacent to mine. I was able to sleep just fine, though, as the bed was really comfortable. I'd changed my hotel to this one at the last minute and I'm glad I did. Apart from the occasional noise, I had a lovely stay.

I stayed here during a conference where the price was raised to $240/night. If the price had been quite a bit lower as it might normally be, I probably wouldn't complain much. The location is hard to beat in terms of proximity to Union Square and the Moscone Center, and the front desk staff was friendly. Other reviews have noted that the rooms are dated--and I found that to be true as well. But, my room was clean. The wifi worked, and the rooms were insulated from noise from adjoining rooms. However, there was hardly any noise isolation from the outside. I was on the 6th floor facing Geary Street, and I could hear just about everything going on well into the evening. The heat in my room was also not working until my last night there--and that combined with very thin covers left me pretty cold (though the bed itself was comfortable). When the heat did work, it made a strange noise reminiscent of a dying cat, so I ended up turning it off anyway. One tip for taller or larger travelers: I am 5' 2'', and the shower head was only 2 inches above my head. So if you're much taller than me, you'll be bending down to rinse your hair. You'll also find the bathroom overall to be quite small.

We stayed in the Barnes for four nights in June 2023. Firstly, the hotel is really well located, right by Union Square with all its transport links and 20-30 minute walk away from the Embarcadero and Oracle Stadium. The room was clean and cleaned daily, staff were all very friendly, and it has a great gym (we stayed at the Galleria Park during our last stay in SF which was more expensive and the gym wasn’t fantastic). The bathroom was a little on the small side but the room was a decent size with a comfortable (but slightly on the softer side) bed, fridge, huge TV, coffee making facilities and a table with two bar stools. The hotel is good for the price you pay. We didn’t spend huge amounts of time in the room as we were busy sightseeing and it was perfect for what we needed. As other reviewers have pointed out, some parts of it are being renovated but we were not impacted by any noise so we had no complaints on that side. I note one other review mentioned noise from the road, we did experience that but it didn’t bother us.

Westfield shopping mall and Powell Station metro/bus stop are just around the corner. Amazing location. Classic hotel that offers contactless check-in. Our room was modern and elegant. We really enjoyed staying here. Tip: use the Sonder app to make a reservation! You'll get a lot better rates in the app than on any 3rd party website.

Near the Berkeley Marina, the entire hotel complex is very large. The rooms are large enough, clean and tidy. There are ice machines and drink machines on each floor. The surrounding environment is excellent. Sunrise and sunset, walk on the seaside, enjoy! It is not recommended to include breakfast. I feel that the breakfast coupon is an inducement for guests to spend money. They also have to pay tax and tips. It is really not cheap. Of course, the restaurant environment is still very good, except for the enjoyment type.

Great location for visiting our relatives. Front desk staff was helpful, and we appreciated that they had extra towels and toilet paper behind the front desk so that we wouldn’t have to wait for someone to deliver this to our room. Beds in our 7th floor room was surprisingly firm. Most hotels have worn soft beds. Bathroom is well designed considering it’s a small space. Bright lights and white walls with a modern shower reminds me of a deluxe cruise ship bathroom. Mini microwave in the room is a nice plus because the Trader Jo’s is right across the street. Free parking is a definite plus. And lobby area feels like a mini living room. At night, you need your hotel key to walk through the front entrance sliding doors as well as tap key to access elevator — great double security feature which I appreciated! And housekeeping staff were genuinely helpful and friendly.

San Rafael! The perfect suburban/nature city to visit in California. It’s located in Marin County and is about a 40 min drive from San Francisco. San Rafael is the perfect city to explore (especially Civic Center or Downtown) or to make a pit stop if you are heading towards Sonoma/Napa County to do some wine tasting. If you do decide to stay in San Rafael, you should book your next stay at Fourpoints by Sheraton hotel! I got the pleasure in staying at the Four points by Sheraton hotel.When I first walked into the lobby, the staff Pesty and John were able to take care of me right away. They were Very nice a friendly at the front desk as I was checking into the hotel. They even are offering free cookies to guest at the hotel as well so that was a plus. After I was all checked in, I was able to be on the 4th floor which is the highest floor at the hotel. I got to stay in the modern Deluxe Guest room- 1 king bed During my stay. When I walked in my room the room was modern, casual room that was clean and all prepared for. The bathroom was also modern and clean as well with everything working. The most beautiful part about this room was the view. I can’t tell you how beautiful my view from my room was. It was so gorgeous that it looked like a million dollar view. You can see the beautiful pool patio including the palm trees and see the astonishing mountains of San Rafael . I highly reccomend staying at the fourth floor if you can facing the pool because you get to wake up in the morning to that incredible million dollar view. That is a major plus in my opinion. I wanted to highlight the pool patio at the hotel because I think it’s such as gorgeous area to look and be in. When you walk outside, there are a bunch of seating area where people can hangout and just relax. At night, what is so special about that area is there is a fire pit are where you can get yourself warm after a long day. The pool in general is a nice large pool with a hot tub and Four Points by Sheraton is known to have the largest pool patio in Marin County. People can just relax at the pool or go for a swim as well. Overall, this area has to be the nicest area at this hotel. Overall, if you are looking for a nice place to stay in San Rafael, I highly recommend staying here at Four Points by Sheraton. The views, the staff, the scenery, the cleanliness of the hotel was on point. If I’m ever in San Rafael again which is a huge yes, I would stay here agaian and you guys should book your stay at Four Points as well.
