Top 5-Star Hotels in Shangri-La

This is quite a palatial place, but seems a little dated. The room was very comfortable, however the elevator has a bad smell in it. They had a great dinner banquet set up in the restaurant with western and Chinese food, it was very generous (cost 88 yuan per person for those staying in the hotel). The hotel is located alongside a small waterway which would be pleasant for a stroll. The staff were very attentive (but only spoke Mandarin). We were there in a slow time (just at the end of Spring Festival with CoVid still affecting international travel) so breakfast was a simple bowl of rice noodles brought to the room.

I can only repeat what the other reviews are mentioning: it’s clean, got good amenities, but everything seems a bit old. We had some WiFi issues but when it was working it was good. In general, the service wasn’t that great. We arrived tired after a long drive, no help with parking the car or the luggage. Check in was the most rigorous we had, even checking all the flight and train numbers we took. Also didn’t allow us to take a rest first. We went on a hike and wanted to take some Baozi from the breakfast - forbidden (I found that in China this is usually no problem). However, I think for the price it’s fine and while it doesn’t look like it, it’s quite clean. Also the dinner was quite good, breakfast not so much.

What an amazing experience, not only by the hotel itself, but specially by the service given by the concierge Becky. Extremely helpful with us (non Chinese speakers): gave us tips of the city, arranged a trip by car to the most important spots around, offered her phone in case we needed help with translation… This is what really made a difference in our stay at Shangri La hotel. I hope her manager takes that into account since it was by far the best service recieved. Big big thanks to Becky, honestly, amazing service offered, not to mention her permanent smile and willingness to help us. Having said all that, the hotel management must improve the English spoken by their staff. We REALLY struggled… thank god we had google translate. Except our beloved Becky, nobody spoke any English, not even the basics… Will defo come back ;)

We are travelling as a family with young kids. The location is convents located near the town centre, and 10 mins ride to airport. Besides View from room’s balcony is amazing, the staff are helpful and polite in assisting in all ways.

I was worried about the room being dirty and messy before, but I didn't expect it to be very clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The room and bathroom are separate, and there are disposable toilet seats. The camp has many small details, it's beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! ! ! The waiter sister and brother are very polite, and they help with the luggage when picking up and dropping off. The boss lady is also very generous and polite! The breakfast is very exquisite, and the scallion oil noodles are delicious👍 I love this place so much. After climbing the snow mountain this time, I will bring my family here next time!

Loved our stay at Arro Khampa and would surely come back! Our room was beautifully furnished, with unbeatable views of the central temples of Shangri La’s old town right out of our window on the second floor. Some of the members of staff can communicate pretty well in English, which was perfect to be able to schedule day trips around the region (which is stunning) and organise pick-ups to and from the railway station. Only ‘but’ to note was the quality of the included breakfast, which felt a bit subpar in comparison to pretty much everything else in this wonderful boutique hotel. Otherwise all fantastic!

The hotel is in a prime location, about ten minutes' walk from Dukezong Ancient Town. The hotel is well-equipped, clean and tidy, with a warm environment, and the Tibetan-style architecture is very distinctive. Especially the diffuse oxygen supply in the hotel is great! The hotel has an underground parking lot, which is very convenient. After booking, the hotel housekeeper contacted us directly and sent us the location of the parking lot. And turned on the heating in advance, so that we felt warm as soon as we arrived at the hotel. Thank you very much for the warm and thoughtful service. I will stay here again next time.

This hotel is perfect for those seeking to take a break from the usual crowds. It's a big property in a quaint village, surrounded by beautiful nature. Our room was more like a two storey villa, with the living quarter upstairs and dressings room, washrooms downstairs, made in old ******* style but with all the modern amenities tastefully integrated into the settings. I specifically loved the stream Infront of the hotel, taking a walk by it was amazing. A special shout-out to Murray and Dolma for making our stay special. Would love to come back here to experience another season!

The hotel has beautiful scenery. We rented a car and went on a self-driving tour. The hotel has a parking lot where you can park for free. When you go to Songzanlin Temple, you can also drive around Napahai to enjoy the scenery. The hotel also provides outdoor barbecue packages, many of which can be used as check-in locations. One nine-square breakfast is enough for two people, and each person also has a bowl of white porridge or noodles or rice noodles + fried eggs. You don’t have to worry about being hungry in the hotel. Then when you check in to the hotel, it is best to add the housekeeper’s WeChat first. You can find them for any questions. For example, if you go out and don’t have a car to go back to the hotel, they will arrange for the staff to drive their own car to pick you up. We don’t want to be inconvenient when traveling, so we finally rented a car online.

Tickets for two people at the Balagezong Scenic Area (including sightseeing bus tickets): Very cost-effective, saving the ticket money for two people, and the room is very large, the staff are very enthusiastic, it is really lucky to meet such a scenic spot and staff when I take my parents out for the first time. The hotel is very good, the ecology is natural and there are many wild animals, and there are monkeys outside the window to accompany tea. Because the weather was bad, I waited for a day in Dukezong before going up the mountain. Because it was the first time to enter the ******* area and brought my parents who were looking forward to the journey and encountered rainy days, I was very nervous. As a result, Brother Dorje who came to the city to pick us up kept comforting us on the way, telling us about the customs of the ******* area, introducing the beautiful Shangri-La, and the sacred mountain of Balagezong. Brother Dorje is also very good at driving. My mother is an old car sick person. When we arrived at the hotel, she did not have high sickness or car sickness. It was cloudy all the time on the road. In the afternoon of that day, I visited the Echo Wall accompanied by the housekeeper. Suddenly, the sky cleared up, a crack appeared in the clouds, and the sun sprinkled on the Shangri-La Grand Canyon. It was so beautiful. The next day, there was a lot of fog on the way to the pagoda. The driver was very humorous and his driving skills were very stable. I saw many people on the Internet getting carsick on the way to the pagoda, but the passengers on the bus that day were very happy and no one got carsick. The employees of Balagzong should be very good. I was completely healed by the staff here. Ten minutes after arriving at the pagoda, the fog suddenly dissipated. The pagoda in the first snow appeared in front of us under the clear sky. It was so exciting at that moment. The highlight of this trip to Yunnan was Balagzong, where I seemed to see my parents when they were young, and they were as happy as children.
