The climb up the hill to Anjuan is worth the effort as this is one of the most pleasant places I have stayed at in Kochi Prefecture. From afar the hotel looks rather unimpressive. When you arrive, however, you realize they have done an amazing job turning a somewhat drab concrete structure into a cozy and welcoming Japanese style inn. If you are ok with sleeping on tatami mat floors on futons, the Japanese style rooms are lovely and the communal bath is a real treat after a day of sightseeing. The food at Anjuan is really quite something and beautifully presented. I am vegetarian and multi-course evening meal was absolutely delicious and compared very well with my colleague’s meat and fish course. The Japanese breakfast was also excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive and the many small courtesies on display that explain the ways of the Japanese inn to the uninitiated in English are all very welcome.

I really wanted to see the Shimanto River from the guest room window However, the non-smoking floors are on the 8th, 6th and even floors, and the 4th floor was vacant. We stayed ２ nights on our trip to Kochi in October 2020. The hotel was undergoing a large-scale repair work on the outer wall and there was a scaffolding around. Parking is free, but the first parking lot just beside the hotel can only park about 10 cars, so you will park in a parking lot a little far away when you are full. The content of the breakfast was mainly Japanese food, and Western food was about bread, salad and drink, but it is glad to eat this for free. １ There is a ”Yakuyu bath” behind the front desk on the floor, but there are only １, so it is a men and women change system on the day of the week and time. The washroom was about ４ and the bathtub was about tatami mats, but the smell of medicinal herbs was healed. We stayed on weekdays, but the morning bath is only for men, and it is switched from women to men at 20 o'clock at night, so women are quite difficult to use. On weekends, men and women seemed to be changing their time. Not a new hotel, so you feel less 々 old in the room and hotel facilities. Compact twin room, storage space is insufficient. The hanger rack is also narrow and ４ hanging is full, but there was a stick in the free rental goods placed in the elevator side space. １ In front of the front floor, you can put daily necessities such as cotton swabs and body sponges, and you can feel the devise in detail. It was a perfect hotel for the sightseeing starting point of Tosa Shimizu, Shimanto gawa River, Shimanto gawa River, with a warm service with cheap accommodation fee.

I saw Besshi copper mine at the first time in the morning, visited Shikoku karst at Tengu plateau, and walked around Ainan CHO to look for the inn on the day and hit it. It is aging in the whole, but it is clean and I don't care. It was a favorite that Shoji was broken. I didn't eat it, but there was information that the level of meals was high. Anyway, I was surprised at the low price. 3500 yen for a night stay. If you are in the city, it is the price of capsules and dormitories. This allows you to stretch your legs in a large bath and relax in a large room for one night, so it may be a little old, but there is no complaint. I can say if I look for a fine ara, but I blow everything at the low price. Such an inn. Is it a pilgrimage the main user?

Nice hotel, the room is large, the dinner is very rich, and the shuttle service of Shifang Qingshui City is also provided. The underwater pavilion, the aquarium, and the tour trail are nearby, very convenient and the scenery is beautiful.

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at! The nickname for this establishment is Mana Village Pacific Hotel. ”Mana” has three meanings, of course it means heavenly food (yes, it was!) and in the Hawaiian language ”magical” (yes the view from the accomdations, and the rooms themselves were just that!) but it is also the local (Kochi prefecture) word for ”a lot” or ”awesome”. That pretty much describes this hotel. If you don't mind a short walk down a covered walkway, you can get to one of the most beautiful outdoor baths in Japan, overlooking the Pacific ocean. And in the restaurant you can get surf (first time I ever had lobster in Japan!) turf, and most importantly a variety of exotic fish served up local style. Most important is the location, which is on the extreme south-west tip of the island of Shikoku, a sort of peninsula jutting into the ocean. I wont spoil the adventure you will have if you come to Ashizuri, which is a kind of geo-park combining ancient history with luxurious fauna in a transitional tropical/temprate zone. If you go there, this is the place to stay!
