Always get a warm welcome at Redwings. The staff are lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants and on the main bus route into Birmingham city. Perfect for a short stay at reasonable prices.

Everything was very good food, staff , room etc I would have given it an even better score but I object to paying for car parking.

The location of the hotel is not very convenient. There are no good transportation facilities, supermarkets and restaurants in the surrounding area. You need to walk for a while to reach the bus station and restaurants. The hotel's front desk clerk was very nice, but the hotel did not provide comprehensive equipment, such as slippers and hairdryers.

I booked a stay for one date then had to move the date due my one colleague being in the military and we eventually stayed for what we thought at the time was a pleasurable evening with this hotel on the 2nd September 2022. I felt I did call in plenty of time to move the first booking and just wanted to flag this up with them. They have now charged me for two stays and accused me of not moving the booking and not turning up. I earn a low salary due to my current job and there would be no way we would want to pay for two stays when we only wanted one night. They appear to not be concerned with my story and are refusing to refund the first booking As they have no proof it was moved on the phone by me. I did not receive an email confirming the move in dates and assumed all was well from the telephone conversation . Be aware this could and will happen to you if you need to change your room booking . They might charge you for two stays. I can barely afford this at present especially with rising prices in fuel costs. I will not be returning to this hotel group because they have ripped me off. What turned out as a smashing hotel stay has now turned into a really bad negative memory. It was not a corporate booking and every penny counts for me at this time and we are being treated as if the money means nothing , that we have been charged for two stays , for them appears normal. Even if it is wrong . Just to confirm we paid and stayed for the £205.12 Booking for one night , but were not at the hotel for the other fee they have charged which is £286 Again beware of these big hotel groups who are happy to take your money and if a mistake is made on their part, are very hard to get back a fee that they should not have taken .

Kay, Joe, Majid, Mukesh, Joe and Adam- wow! Simply outstanding We are staying this weekend as we celebrate a 100th birthday party locally. Mum is also recovering from cancer and chose this hotel for all of us to stay at. We couldn't have had a warmer reception and the service has been second to none. Majid went above and beyond to make sure our dinner was perfect. We would highly recommend!

Wifey and I have just come back from a 6 night stay at this hotel. Our son lives in Birmingham and should have been having his graduation ceremony which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We had the time off booked so decided to come up and visit anyways. The hotel had only just reopened for business and there were some restrictions in place as a result of the virus. The room was a pleasant surprise, spacious, light and airy, if a tad warm as the radiator had been turned on. The bed was comfy and the bathroom nice a clean with reasonable pressure to the shower. Could have done with a little more storage but then I don't expect too many people stay for more than a couple of nights normally. We did discover that the seal round one of the double glazed windows was not very tight so, with the room being at the front of the hotel, some traffic noise filtered through into the room. Being a light sleeper this was a bit annoying for me as the local emergency services do like to use their two tones at all hours of the night. Also the guest above us must have been wearing hobnail boots round their room as we could hear every footstep as they wandered around at 3am! Restrictions also meant that the room was not serviced every day but was cleaned and the bed changed just the once but this was not a problem for us. We had booked bed and breakfast so I was rather looking forward to my full English every day so you can imagine my disappointment when breakfast was just a grab and go bag. The kitchen and bar at the hotel remain closed for the time being so breakfast consists of a bottle of water, carton of juice, croissant, blueberry muffin (the best bit), a piece of packaged cheese, a small container of jam and a piece of fruit. This is fine and full credit to the hotel for trying their best but after the third day it was a bit dull. The staff are brilliant and even showed concern when we stopped taking all the breakfast bag, thinking that my wife was not eating properly. (We did find a little coffee shop just over the railway bridge called Marshalls where bacon and sausage was available) The hotel bar was also closed which was a shame and obviously we could not get an evening meal if we had wanted one. The hotel is right next to Acocks Green station with two trains an hour into Birmingham on the current timetable. Once things are more normal I imagine there would be maybe one more as currently there is a 40 minute gap if you miss the 43 minutes past train. The hotel itself is doing what it can to survive and they told use they have an agreement with three airlines for their staff to stay at the hotel which explains the comings and goings at al hours of the day and night. I cannot fault the staff who were all lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble. We hope to come back and stay here again and look forward to seeing how it is in more normal times. We had our Wedding Breakfast last Thursday 6th June in the Boardroom at Hogarths and it was absolutely fabulous. The food was amazing and the service first class. Jess and her team couldn’t do enough for us and they made us and our guests feel truly special! Laura, who was our event planner was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. She guided us through all the planning so personally and professionally. To say it was the ‘perfect’ day is an understatement and we can’t recommend Hogarths highly enough. This travel lodge was very nice clean and tidy, maintained to a good standard. Beds were clean and really comfortable and no noise distribution. Breakfast was well stocked and hot with plenty of choices
