Mercure hotel although out of Ortigia out town enjoys a very nice location next to the archeological site and next to regional bus stops that take you to cities like Noto. The pool on the rooftop is clean and well maintained and the reception is nice and welcoming. The rooms are cool with floor to ceiling window bays and the breakfast on the rooftop is heavenly especially with the fresh ricotta and cannelloni. This is for me the must be in hotel when in Siracusa.

The room is decent for a city hotel, catering more towards business travellers. The hotel is conveniently located, a 30-minute walk to Ortigia's island city but less than 5 minutes from the Archaeological Park of Neapolis. Getting to Ortigia is easy via a quick ride on the red bus costing just €1.50, payable to the driver. The reception is notably friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good, offering a brilliant variety of food and drinks. Additionally, there is a large supermarket around the corner of the hotel. Parking is free.

One of the receptionist sounds like he is not to help customers but order the customers, very disgusting attitude, the room is small ,not so clean ,- and far away from the center ,not recommend ,next time definitely choose town center

Unfortunately from your criticism I can not deduce what were the problems related to your stay but I personally apologize if someone was rude to you. Regarding the location of the hotel, I am sure that before booking you have noticed that our property is located right in the city center of Syracuse, in a commercial area and full of shops and historical points of interest, in front of the archaeological park of Neapolis, a few steps from the catacombs of San Giovanni, the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle lacrime, the Archaeological Museum and just 1.5 km from the island of Ortigia. The location was good. The sea view was also nice. There was a lot of dust in the room. There was some inconvenience in using the parking lot, and it would have been nice to have a separate manager.

A very good location in front of the Archaeological Park so that the walk could be organised efficiently. Very close to Ortigia, we did not go walking because of the tremendous heat. Very good disposition of the employees and good rooms.

The hotel is modern and the rooms spacious and comfortable with courteous staff and a good breakfast with a full range of choice. The hotel description notes that it has a gym, sauna and steam room but the gym is poorly equipped with two non-working treadmills and the sauna/steam rooms could only be used if you paid for a period in the spa area costing a min of £35 a visit, which was a disappointment. The location is about a mile north of the town centre and there is mostly residential around it so it's not central and within a 15-20 minute walk to the centre and a 40 min walk to Ortigia.

The Mercure hotel in Syracusa is about a mile from the tourist area of Ortigia, but there is an excellent and cheap bus service to the island From the reception staff to the cleaners and the bar and restaurant staff you will find helpful friendly people who will go above and beyond normal service to help. There is a pool, which was very welcome when the temperature was in the 30s ( For our American friends that's the low 90s) As a hotel, it's everything you want as an experience, thanks to the staff, it's a pleasure
