5-Star Hotels in Dambulla

Our overall experience in Sri Lanka this time was just so-so. I couldn't get used to the local food, unexpectedly fell ill, and even had two unfortunate incidents of theft, which put a real damper on my mood. However, this hotel was absolutely the only highlight of the entire trip, and I wholeheartedly recommend it! The hotel's location is indeed a bit remote, with a rather unremarkable surrounding environment and not the best access roads. But since we had a private car, this didn't bother us at all. It's a jungle hotel with an incredible ambiance, making you feel like you're living right in the forest. The rooms are designed like treehouses – not huge, but very unique and charming. We were even greeted with welcome juice upon check-in, a thoughtful touch. The absolute highlight has to be the hotel's food! Because of its remote location, we couldn't eat out, and I was initially worried. But the hotel's food completely blew us away – it was far better than any meals we had near tourist attractions along the way. The quality was excellent, the prices were affordable, and the value for money was outstanding! Breakfast was ordered from a set menu, while dinner offered à la carte options or set menus. We had two dinners and two breakfasts, and every meal was carefully prepared. The restaurant service was also exceptional. The hotel environment is incredibly quiet, and it gets wonderfully cool at night, so there was no need for air conditioning – that was a real comfort. During our two-day stay, our child only used the pool, which, although small, was perfectly adequate. We also saw small monkeys and squirrels, truly immersing us in the forest. Mosquitoes weren't much of an issue, and the room was generally very tidy. Both the facilities and service were impeccable; the staff were warm and attentive. The hotel has a small number of rooms and guests, mostly European and American tourists. We were the only Asian family, and the sense of privacy and tranquility was absolute. While the hotel itself doesn't boast grand vistas, the immersive forest experience, excellent food, and thoughtful service completely made up for the troubles of our journey. I highly recommend it to families looking for a quiet, comfortable place to relax and unwind in Sri Lanka, especially those traveling by private car. You must stay here for at least two days! I hope the hotel continues to maintain such high standards for its food and service.

I was able to stay in the wilderness and the service was great, but the drainage of the shower in the villa I stayed in was completely useless and the water overflowed from the shower room. Fortunately, there was another bathroom, so I tried to use it, but I don't think it will improve unless I redo the left-handed construction on the floor of the shower room. And when I was taking a shower in the middle of the night, the water supply suddenly stopped coming out, so I spilled it with mineral water. If I hadn't improved by the morning, I was going to tell the front desk, and I was going to leave in the morning.

We stayed for 2 nights for sightseeing in Sigiriya Rock, but it was a nice resort hotel living in a large forest. The room was a two-story cottage style and our room was on the first floor. It was noisy that the footsteps of the people on the upper floor heard the slapstick from 4 o'clock in the morning and I was worried about the smell of the drain, but the rice was delicious (breakfast did not change much) It was good to be able to eat comfortably at the restaurant in front of the pool where the refreshing breeze passes. I had dinner because there was no restaurant nearby, but I chose the first night from the a la carte menu, and the second night was a buffet with plenty of curry and desserts. On the second day, I was troubled because I couldn't use Wi-Fi on the １ day due to network failure, but it was fixed the next morning. The staff were kind and smiley. Because the hotel is remote, I asked the hotel to arrange a round trip to Sigiriya Rock and a round trip to Pidulangara, but it was said that it was 4800 ruby twice. The same driver came on both days and was a good young man, but the local guide was surprised that this price was much higher than the tuk-tuk I caught around it. Please be careful if you are using it.

Excellent staff and food. Point to note - the hotel is literally in the jungle. It’s remote. You’ll feel bugs and insects, so walk with a repellent, but I think it is a wonderful experience.

The hotel is nice, spacious beautiful room at check in we were treated to a refreshing juice. There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.  Minuses of the hotel: Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.

We chose this hotel based on the location! We arrived, looked and booked 3 rooms. Moreover, it was cheaper to book through the website than at the hotel. When they showed us the rooms, a very sharp, specific smell hit our noses, I asked what it was, they told me that these were their air fresheners and they could be washed off. I said that I could not live with such a smell and needed to be removed, they said ok and we went to check in. Then I threw my things and went swimming and eating. In the evening, I returned to the room, the smell was there and then it dawned on me that it was a cockroach repellent!!!!!! The victims were already lying all over the room, and very large ones. At the reception, they silently moved me, without even apologizing. This moment, of course, spoiled the impression. After all, I immediately said that the smell was very sharp. The bathroom is very interestingly made, it is as if outside, in the shower there is a net and an outside nook. Leaving the cool room there is a strong contrast, but this does not spoil the rest. I liked the design of the disposable sets, they looked very stylish. In the evenings, musicians played in the restaurant (the first day there were mantras to the music, on the second day a guy sang very chicly. In the restaurant you can eat from the menu or dinner/lunch buffet. We tried both options, everything is very good. Very attentive staff in the cafe, the administrator saw us and ran to prepare a table for us. They also served by the pool. The territory is not large, but it is conducive to relaxation. Monkeys even came running. Friends went to the spa, they said the massage was good. From the hotel we went to Sigiriya (20 minutes by car) and on a safari in the park.

The environment is great, a large mango garden, the hotel only occupies a small area in the middle, walk in the early morning and evening in the middle of the green grass, monkeys running around the hotel, or relax on a deck chair in the room with a balcony at night Drinking a clear spring. The dinner buffet is very rich, and the meals at noon are also very good. The swimming pool is downstairs, enjoying the food while overlooking the greenery, mango trees, coconut trees and the swimming pool, it is really enjoyable.
