We stayed here for one night, having driven from Melbourne en route to the Silo Art Trail. Located (in common with much other Stawell accommodation) on the Western Highway, it suffers a little from the ongoing road noise, as trucks thunder between Adelaide and Melbourne. That said, check-in was quick and the room was reasonably spacious and well-equipped. The wi-fi was decent, and it was good to have a table and a couple of chairs outside, from which to enjoy the late afternoon sun. There was a barbeque and picnic seating for guest use, though we weren’t that ambitious. The price was fair and sleep - despite the efforts of the trucking industry - was OK. Double-glazing wouldn’t go amiss, mind you.

Going to Grampians on Saturday, the room is relatively small, so we have to book in advance, we can only stay for half an hour or so, stay in this house, but the town has a supermarket, shopping is convenient. Breakfast is free, it is bread milk and cereal cereal, which is relatively simple, and it is a bit cold to eat. The bed is 1.5 meters, and the sleeping family is a bit crowded.

I was expecting a very basic room because it’s an affordable motel. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised. The room was big, spotlessly clean and well decorated. Attention to detail was obvious from the minute we entered. We will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it . Traffic noise is of course an issue because it’s a main freeway. Accommodating staff makes a big difference.

I stayed overnight on my way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Dave was very welcoming and had me in a nice ground floor room. I thought the squeaky floorboards from the room upstairs would impinge on my nights sleep, but once those guests stopped moving around all was quiet. My room was nice and there were biscuits to enjoy with my cup of tea. For the price, it is thoroughly recommended. before I left I took a walk along Seaby Street toward the track where the Stawell Gift is run. The footpath along the way near the track has some interesting story boards giving some details of the runners over the years.

I rang to say I would probably miss check-in, (driving in from Melbourne and was caught in storms), no problem, the very nice and helpful Brenda gave me the code for the room key. The motel is an oldish one but I was pleasantly surprised by the very clean, neat and spacious room. Comfy bed, big wall mounted TV, new shower with great water pressure, nice towels, well equipped with microwave etc and while the air con unit is an older one, it works (it was during a hot spell). It's on a highway so expect some truck noise but it's not that bad. There's a cafe and Macca's nearby for the all important coffee and brekky. I will stay there again for the next visit.
