Room wasn’t in the best state, mould in the bathroom and on the walls, shower curtain had burn marks on, shower head so much limescale it didn’t work properly. Bed super uncomfortable felt 20 years old, doors covered in dirt, cobwebs in room. Check in wasn’t the best, wasn’t told where the room was, had to ask what floor I was on. Location is good because it’s right by the station but I would never stay here again. Shame as this hotel could be great with some major renovations. I’m glad I didn’t touch the food either, others I met up with said it was the worst food ever eaten!

Lovely hotel, good location, friendly and helpful staff. A little dated but decor suits for old hotel. Would definitely stay again.

The breakfast dining staff was like no other. When you wanted eggs, or sausage Trish would take your order and come back with eggs and sausage. Just place your order with her. Ashley Inn also had coffee, various juices, yogurt with cranberries, nut and raisins, waffles, various muffins, English muffins and great apple, cinnamon, nut muffin. Trish was very helpful, cheerful, a very pleasant person. Ashley Inn and Suites have a spectacular staff.

26th May 2023 would have been my third year staying at this hotel. I booked in October 2022. When I arrived for my stay I was told that the hotel was closed to house asylum seekers. The receptionist , a heavy-set man with shoulder-length blonde hair ( I don’t know his name, hence the description) said that an email was sent to everyone. I never received any email from the hotel. I always check my email inbox and spam folder twice every day. If the hotel sent an email, I never received it, which is a problem at their end. Had I received that email I wouldn’t have turned up at the hotel for my stay. As for that receptionist, he had a very bad attitude. I never argued with him or displayed any negative behaviour. He , however, was extremely rude and didn’t even offer an apology for the situation, just waddled off mumbling under his breath. Why is it that other companies can afford to send out a mass text message to communicate with their customers, but Britannia Hotels can’t? To be honest, it would have been my last time booking with that hotel regardless. It looks worse than ever from outside. I can only imagine what it looks like inside. A real dump. Due to their bad customer service, I had to find somewhere to stay in what had become an emergency situation as I have a serious health condition. Thankfully I found an Inn to stay at and will be staying there in future. I won’t be staying at the North Stafford Hotel ever again.

Hotel very outdated, for the most part lovely staff and made to feel very welcome. My only issue was it was late at night when I accidentally walked intonthe wrong room, one too many I think. Anyway I walked in and their he was a man cross dressing which wouldn't have bin a problem if he wasn't standing behind the reception the next morning. Inappropriate when he kept looking at me smiling. Started therapy soon after.

Called in for a coffee, not been for many years, seems rundown, staff not over interested. One guy was heard to comment I haven't got time to make tea! Seems one step away from closure in my opinion. Won't be in a rush back!!! Everywhere was run down and not that clean

This booking was made via ********** and my husband did not think below standard hotels would be on the site, so did not check reviews before booking. If it was possible to give less than one star, I would have done it. This is a Britannia Hotel and it lived up to this companies terrible reputation. We have never been in such an awful hotel, and only stayed because we had been driving for four hours, it was getting late and we had another four hours of driving to get home. It was filthy, I don’t think it had seen any decorating for more than twenty years. Paint was yellow, paper was coming off the walls and ceiling. Curtains were falling off the rails. We could not bear to be in the room, so we stayed out for as long as possible. Bathroom was awful, toilet seat was broken, and the thought of having a shower made us feel sick. Bedding... I don’ t want to describe. This hotel should not have a license, I could not even bring myself to take photos, it was so bad. Do not stay here, no matter how cheap it is.

We had moved our son into the University. It's been a very long day and we were 4 hours from home. The hotel was booked 2 weeks prior to our stay and was confirmed. Unfortunately when we got there, they had double booked all the rooms, there were a number of very angry people being told there was no room for them or us. The building itself didn't give the best of impressions and looks really tired, with cracked walls, peeling window frames and dirty grounds. Thank goodness travelodge 10 minutes down the road had space and is really lovely!!

Must have been the worst hotel my husband & I have ever stayed in, but after a long drive we were hungry & tired, so we slept the first night. We had booked breakfast in advance that was not very good at all, we sat near a window with greenery growing through the window. We had pre booked tickets for a nearly full day out returned to the hotel after eating out, had a rest then pack & left, did not stay for our other 2 nights booked. So glad to get back to my clean home & comfy bed.

The staff are lovely- friendly and helpful at all times. In the morning, the breakfast was great, especially the fried bread, thick bacon and juicy mushrooms. Our evening bar meal of fish and chips was just what we needed prior to a long evening out of dancing and drinking. The location is excellent for a short walk to the King’s Hall. Our beds were comfortable. However, the hotel is sadly run down with echoes of a former faded glory. The owners need to spend on a complete upgrade just to bring up to basic standards expected nowadays. I didn’t shower in the morning, as I was too afraid to use - grubby and ancient- the shower, not me!!! Such a shame as if some money was spent I believe this could be a beautiful hotel 😢

I cancelled my third night within the cancellation policy, a refund was agreed but the hotel will not issue it. I am attempting to recover the money owed by contacting the Britannia group (parent company). So far I’ve sent 4 messages and had no reply from any.
