Good location, extensive grounds, close to good road connections. The rooms in this hotel are small. They are not what the management and website would lead you to believe. It would be true to say that they are successful blend of modern and traditional decor and have been developed within the character and constraints of an old traditional building. The words' large' and 'spacious ' do not apply. Staff: The whole point of the hospitality industry is to be hospitable - or is this just my opinion? 5* hotels treat their residents as welcome guests. Corporate hotels treat residents like paying customers whom they would like repeat business from. Second rate boarding houses treat their guests with disdain. Despite its beautiful appearance, this is a corporate hotel. That's OK. I like corporate hotels. Staff uniform is very smart. Restaurant staff, bar staff and housekeeping are all very helpful, pleasant and cheerful. However, one member of staff was very bossy, telling me what would be happening and what I was going to do and what I wasn't going to do - regardless of any consideration of my feelings on the matter. I was treated as just a person who happened to be staying in a room and should be grateful to be there and should do as I was told. The attitude was that I was irrelevant and insignificant - just another person passing through on the hotel conveyor belt. The repetition of the word 'lovely' 'lovely' did not improve my experience. It annoyed me intensely. The whole experience ruined my stay and soured my impressions of the hotel. Quite frankly, I am too old to do as I am told by some young whipper snapper. I am quite capable of living my own life.
