I’m usually a very tolerant reviewer and I understand that hotels are short staffed at the moment. So this is more of a comment on the Holiday Inn management than the staff here….. Check in took ages. I’m a diamond member and it wasn’t acknowledged (no problem). There was no comment on whether I wanted points or a drink (turns out I got points). My colleague was given a room full of someone else’s possessions. And when he came back down to reception was told ‘that’s definitely your room’. Like he was lying !! I ordered room service. After an hour I called to check it was coming, and was told it was on its way. It arrived 20 minutes later (stone cold) so I said ‘never mind, send it back for reheating’. Then I got a call to say the kitchen was closed so it wasn’t possible, and did I still want it. None of this is life threatening, but will I book here again ? Never !!! Will I recommend it ? Never !! Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else !!!!!!

Room was better than expected, extremely clean and everything was impeccable! The bed was very comfortable. We had a small king room, I expected it to be very small but there was enough room and everything was set beautifully. Breakfast was included, there is a nice bistro next to the motel, offering a simple buffet, everything was very nice. Staff very nice too. Would definitely go back again!

A great place for a combined venue with accommodation, dining and conference facilities. A bit off the city centre made transport to and from venue additionally expensive, especially for those coming from Sydney airport. Well serviced rooms and comfortable beds ensured a good night of rest after long days in meetings.

Recently stayed at this hotel as part of a sporting team spending 8 nights. Staff, from manager Mark through to housekeeping were fabulous. Very accommodating to our needs and offering solutions to make management and charging of meals easy for all. Dinner menu provided for all tastes and nightly meal specials were a bonus helping us to remain on budget. As our schedule was flexible it was possible for us to pre-order dinners and were even offered takeaway packaging if wouldn't make it back in time. Rooms were comfortable and spacious enough for adult males. Complimentary water and bathroom products in rooms was great. For groups/sporting teams reading this review, there were no kitchen facilities in rooms but we were able to self prepare lunches in available space in accommodation area. There is no on-site laundry, however laundromat available a short distance away. We had no problems with noise coming from bar area below, however no bands or big events were held during our stay.

Stayed here for 1 night while on a business trip to customers in the nearby industrial estates. Nice, spacious studio accommodation. It missed a breakfast restaurant. The study was adequately spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable as well. It had a community laundry room at the ground level which I used. For anyone who needs to stay in the Kingswood suburb, this is a nice option and I would also stay here again, as and when need arises to stay overnight in this vicinity.

Stayed over night before trip to Western Sydney Zoo, 7 minutes away and across the road from Eastern Creek Raceway. Rooms are basic but clean, receptionist was helpful and obliging, made us feel welcome. On site bistro was excellent for dinner, food was delicious and the staff great. Breakfast was a basic buffet but tasty and again staff were really helpful and obliging. On site parking was available at no additional charge, although in open air it was well lit and very close to main entrance. Would definitely stay again.

I was very optimistic of this place, and indeed spent a very comfortable afternoon in air conditioning with high speed internet for work. The place is a stone's throw from a multitude of dining options, and the river, and it has a swimming pool. However there was a lot of construction noise from next door, and I never would have booked if I'd known that. It's not on the website. When I peeled back the sheets, housekeeping had left the bottom 30cm of the bed completely un-sheeted under the doona. No under protector or anything, so just my own feet on rough mattress. Awful. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable (hard) and would benefit from a topper. Someone else's dirty socks were in the safe. I was willing to overlook the tradie who came into my room while I was in there. Happy I had the chain on, and it was an honest mistake. All in all I think 3 stars is a bit of a generous review, but I am appreciative of what it's like to be in small business and have external factors affect your product. A general workshop with the staff would bring it up to scratch in no time.

GGuest UserI had high expectations of Capella Sydney after staying multiple times at Capella Bangkok and being treated as though I were the most important person in the hotel, just like all of the other guest who stay there are. The attention to service detail at Sydney location unfortunately failed very short to meet my expectations. The booking process on the website was glitchy and the pricing was inconsistent, sometimes showing pricing including tax sometimes not without indication and only upon receiving confirmation via email from reservations was the price confirmed, which did not match the screenshots of the reservation when I placed the booking so I had to go back and forth with reservations via phone and email to simply confirm the accurate pricing for my stay. After creating an account to log on to their booking platform although the option of modifying the booking was offered, the feature did not work on the site, so you had to cancel the booking and book a new booking if you simply wanted to extend by 1 day. This is before I even arrived at the hotel. When I did arrive, it is of course, no small feat that the restoration of this historic building was carried out with the utmost respect for the architecture, from the flooring material to the fenestration and even the internal grand stair way was brilliantly retro-fitted with current code requirements for the handrail in a historically appropriate yet contemporary solution. The hotel does not have many floors, so I encourage anyone to take the stairs to experience the beauty of the restoration work. The recognition of the strong identity of the urban location and sense of place in Sydney’s CBD offers us a promise, an encounter, as the space of the possible. I wish I could say the same about the interior design. There was a real disconnect between the intent of the architecture and that of the interior design. The decoration at best seemed vague, and so for the guest experience, how could one of have a point of view about the effect of the design? The space of the expectant “possible” relationship I was expecting from the simple activity of stepping into Farrer Place’s south entryway marked Department of Agriculture, as local stories interpreting colonial history with ancestral elements of the Eora people by Waayni artist Judy Watso unfolded, or the sense of expansive freedom through the bronze Palazzo doors on Loftus Street into the latent quiet luxury of the grand stair was lost when I was met with the contrasting designs and colours of the lift lobby vestibule axminster carpet and that of the corridor carpet to the guest rooms, able to be seen in the same frame. Although an argument can be made about eclecticism and the use of curating a collection of exceptional vintage and contemporary objects this was not the case here, it read as a mismatched bric-à-brac (to borrow a Victorian word from the building time period that's true meaning in French means ”any old way” or ”at random”). GGuest UserFirstly, this hotel is perfectly located for business travellers to Macquarie Park Business Centres. The hotel is 5 minutes away from offices, Macquarie Centre and train stations. Absolutely perfect for my work trip. There were some positives. Rooms are fine, completely what you would expect from a business hotel. Bed was comfortable, there was a TV that I never used, space to put luggage and hang up your clothes, a table and a chair etc. However, it goes down hill from there. I'll list the negatives 1 by 1: 1. One pillow had a very strong odour coming from it. Smelled like bad musty BO. I literally had to move the pillow into the cupboard as I couldn't stand the smell. However, this meant that I could smell this musty smell every time I came in and out of the room. 2. 1 of the provide bath towels had a big hole/tear in it. 3. Housekeeping made an error and did not provide shampoo but instead 2 conditioners. Easy enough, I called up reception and they said I have to come down to the reception to get it myself. Fine, went down and was given 1 bottle of shampoo. I went back upstairs to shower only to find that the shampoo given was pre-opened/pre-used. Terrible. After my shower, I went back down to speak to another receptionist who was apologetic and gave me 2 bottles of shampoo. 4. On my second day, I realised housekeeping had not come in, so I went down to speak to the reception again and was told that because of COVID, they only do housekeeping on after the 3rd day of your stay which made it null and void for me. 5. Fitness centre was adequate but they did not replenish the towels and did not clear used towels regularly. On my second day, I had left a used towel on the side as the bin was full. On my third day, the bin was still full and my previous towel still sitting there in the same position I had left it in. Forth day, no more clean towels. 6. If they were so concerned about COVID, they would have more regular cleaning of public areas like the gym and in the hall way where an empty glass and cup set for 3 whole days. The lack of cleaning in public areas to me is unacceptable in the hospitality industry now. All in all, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone given my concerns above, especially the lack of cleanliness while we are dealing with an epidemic.

GGuest User4 night stay for Vivid. Chose this as an Accor member and that it was close to the Harbour. Upgraded to a Prestige Suite, Club benefits and was not disappointed. Yes the building is not new, it’s not like the shiny new hotels in town, but it’s solid and my sleeps were uninterrupted and rarely heard noise from the hall. My Suite 930 was spacious, clean, well appointed, Sofitel Bed topper and electric sockets to plug in my adapters to charge. Like other reviews no USB ports but I’m sure most sensible travellers have an adapter. The Club Sofitel access was the perfect addition. Early check-in and waited with a hot tea while my suite was made up. It was 9:30am but the room was rushed and 30 minutes later I was unpacking. Evening canapés and drinks from 5:30pm. Table drink service by Alley and her dedicated, personable, attentive team. They remember your preferences pretty quickly and it became an oasis from Vivid hoping and sightseeing. My suite completely blocked out the light and slept through 2 alarms, it’s the Sofitel Bed topper. Breakfast at Club Sofitel, peaceful, plenty of options to choose from, salmon and capers to a great gluten free station, eggs cooked to order and a great way to start the day. Try the Dilmah Blood Orange and Eucalyptus tea. Thanks Lara. Afternoon Tea served from 2:30 and daily sandwiches , scones, cakes and complimentary drinks, tea, coffee and soft. On entering the Club Lounge, always a friendly greeting, your preferred drink served and a relaxing space anytime of the day. The Club team really made my stay, they work really hard to make your stay great. Housekeeping always made up my room before my afternoon return. Always a Bonjour as you walked past them in the hall. My stay was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Lobby is grand and the history of this hotel makes her great. Not the newest but I prefer tradition and good honest service. Definitely not the style of hotel for everyone but my expectations were met and exceeded beyond imagination. Club Sofitel is a must. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

NNimingdianpingzhe1. The location is quite good. Close to everywhere!walk to Darling harbour, china town, market city, star ****** and even circular quay! 2.The speed of check-in is way much slow. Need patience to deal that period. And no any room service at night shift 3.建筑很有特点,充满年代感的外立面,还有内部裸露出来的主体结构。和现代化的五星酒店相比,还是比较特别的。 4.设施设备一般般,可能因为年代太久。住13层的话有隐藏电梯,上下楼快一些。

GGuest UserGood rates to stay in the heart of the Sydney CBD. Special offer for paying in cash, otherwise the normal charge for using credit card. Located near Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building with easy access to shops, restaurants and transport. Compact Queen Room was small but had the main requirements if you are only staying in the room to sleep and out all day - comfy large bed, TV on the wall, small desk and chair, air con, free wi-fi, small room safe, small fridge and coffee/tea facilities, blackout curtains, regular and nice rain shower fittings. Soap and wall dispensers of shampoo and body wash provided, but other amenities like hair conditioner, iron and iron board or dental kit can be requested from Guest Services (sign with list in the elevator). Friendly staff. Reception closed in the early hours but just use access card. A few negatives. My room was located facing the nearby wall of the building next door (so no view). I requested a view (if possible) but was informed there were no views for my room. I don't think hotels realise how any outlook can make a big difference for some guests to enjoy their stay. If I book again I would check first if a room facing the street was available. Worse and disturbing for me though was the constant humming noise and sometimes slight vibration caused by the air ventilation shafts outside my window (one quite close and attached to the outside wall). It also took a couple of days and some confusion before I received a make up room/do not disturb door sign. Many hotels these days take this lightly and are very casual about such arrangements, but some guests are more comfortable having this sign. Very minor was the cold water barely ran in the bathroom basin which was a little convenient at times. There was a TV entertainment lounge nook in the corridor outside my room which was not used during my stay but I would find that disturbing if it had been. Overall a pleasant stay but check out the different types of rooms available.

CCamintelAlthough my room was very nice and what I expected, unfortunately my overall experience was not very pleasant at this hotel. The staff at the front desk was not only rude, they actually suggested that I find another hotel during check-in because I pointed out a fee discrepancy (credit card surcharges) that was not disclosed during my booking reservation on Trip.com app. Meriton properties doesn’t disclose before, during, or after the reservation (Trip.com) that a credit card usage fee will be added, and that’s dishonest in my opinion. What’s disappointing is the attitude I get for pointing out Meriton’s mistake. First they pointed to the sign on the front desk, however I didn’t make this reservation while standing in their front lobby. Second, they said I should have booked on their website next time where it’s disclosed—perhaps then Trip.com should remove them from their approved hotel list. Finally, to learn of the policy while I check-in by pointing to a sign at the front desk, and then being told that if I don’t like the policy that “I can checkout and take my business elsewhere”, was the last straw and is the definition of horrible customer service and poor resolution management. They could have handled this issue differently and just said, “we will look into it and try to do a better job of informing our customers of our policy online. We apologize for this miscommunication.” They did email me afterwards with an apology but they still didn’t acknowledge their dishonesty in not disclosing their credit card usage fee on Trip.com app.
