The hotel is located in the old town of the small town, and you can experience the life of the locals at close range. Close to the cathedral. There are free parking spaces around. Although the hotel is in the old city, the design is avant-garde and beautiful. Very warm and characteristic hotel. The small town is located between Tarragona and Salou, a 5-minute drive to Ferrari theme parks and PortAventura theme parks.

Reviews vary greatly for this property and that in part must be due to such a varied amount of accommodation available within the Hotel Gold River complex. We had previously stayed at the highest category hotel here Mansion De Lucy and was unsure how Gold River would compare, it turned out very favourably indeed. One concern we had was finding out that the fast pass options for rides were no longer granted for length of stay and instead in general it did appear there were few advantages of staying on resort however we found out that certain fast passes that include a single ride on each of the main attractions are valid for use over 2 consecutive days, it is well worth adding on the 1st row supplement which is just 5 Euro. This alongside a Seasme Adventure fast pass of 7 Euro meant it was 50 Euro each for 2 days of guaranteed rides. So for our 5 night stay we opted for this on our 2nd and 3rd day, and then our 5th and 6th final day. Ferrari Land is still included for 1 visit per stay and we also opted for the fast pass there too 23 Euro as we expected it to be busy as it was unusually open at night after PortAventura had closed. We opted for a full board package with Jet 2 and this made our spending money on resort go so far as we found the 3 course lunch that could be taken at numerous quick service restaurants was sufficient to share so we often would split our Lunches in the park up which also include a drink (bar a 1 Euro reusable cup charge) Food quality was outstanding, works out at about £16.50 for 3 course including a drink if you aren't full board so great value, think pasta bolognese to start, chicken dippers and fries for main, fresh fruit salad for dessert and a drink. I had been in touch with the hotel prior to our visit and asked to add on our fast passes along with some flowers and Cava alongside a request for a room in the main city hall, they were extremely efficient and helpful in arranging this and upon arrival everything had been taken care of, including the requested room in City Hall with the most amazing views of both parks and the sea. I would like to know how much Disney would try and extort from you for this view. The room was very clean and serviced daily with a nice deep bath, quite noisy at 10pm which seemed to be the most popular time for guests to eat but by Midnight very quiet. I did have concerns about the bookings for the restaurant as others have commented you get a 40 min time limit for breakfast and an hour for dinner for a couple this was fine but a large family may struggle. We found out on the last 2 nights that still water was complimentary at dinner. At both breakfast and dinner there was the most wonderful bread station which had a very large choice of different bread and in the morning pastries. Food was well topped up and loads kf choice for starters and desserts, a little less so for main courses and if nothing we fancied we chose from the kids options which are more fast food. Service was lovely thr

In general the hotel was nice, we arrived and it was quiet. We visited the spa which was nice and the hotel is in a great location (about a 5 minute walk from the beach front) and 25 minutes from the theme park. Food- the food in the restaurant was decent but quite repetitive. However, having said that there was always something to eat. The only downside here at the restaurant was the waiters took a long time to ask us what drinks we wanted, sometimes we would be half way through before being approached. Also, there should be a snack bar by the pool which is open to all inclusive guests however this wasn’t open at all during our stay which was disappointing as we liked to go for walks, so if we missed lunch we had to wait until 7.30 for dinner. Bar - the two male servers were brilliant. Very attentive, friendly and quick. There is a good selection of local spirits however, I was on the all inclusive and when I asked there was only one cocktail available plus sangria, there are more available but you have to pay. The only downside was I had an issue which I raised with reception who maybe through a language barrier didn’t really acknowledge. I have been here before, 8 years ago and the hotel itself has drastically improved. It does feel very spa like with the music and decor. The only issue we had was on our last night there must have been a late arrival and we could hear everything in the corridor and above which meant we couldn’t sleep until 4pm.

This was a tough one between 3 and 4 in review, the hotel itself is great rooms cleaned daily, no fighting for sunbeds ( more due to time of year) but you could easily get sunbed at 11 am. The pool bar was great, food from snack bar was good, example €3.75 for chips, 12” pizza €9.95 and beer €3.70, staff were excellent and always friendly, we lost water one night in hotel room, was off for around 18 hours so no showers for a while, gave us a 1.5l bottle of water lol, but don’t think this was hotels fault. The two sort of let downs for us were 1st the restaurant food, breakfast typical Spanish with their usual version of English breakie, no issues there, but the evening meal was very hit and miss, there was loads on offer but alit did not seem to go, one night they did potatoes, scrambled eggs and eels all mixed together, they also did potatoes waffles with ham and cheese on topped off with a fried egg, I thought that was quiet nice, wife not so lol. Anyway there was a lack of children’s selection, not an issue for us but only chicken nuggets on a few times but always chips, might be an issue if you’ve fuzzy eaters with you. They still had a great salad bar with the typical selection on meats and cheeses, and I thought the deserts were excellent too, although one did look like a bush tucker trail, the chef really thinks outside the box lol. 2nd issue was the location of hotel, it’s a 10 to 15 min stroll to nearest shops, and bars, so for us not ideal, but may suit others, about the same distance to Port Ventura theme park, it will cost you about €10 for a taxi to seafront if they easier. Oh aircon in room not the best either, it never really cold, sometimes you want this when it’s been so hot outside, entertainment on a night was ok too, we would some times watch it from our balcony, kids disco every night too. So for us would we use again, I would say no, but mainly due to location of hotel, not because of hotel itself because it is a beautiful hotel

On Monday, March 7, we were staying with my family and I in this hotel and we had an incidence with the bathroom as it was fully attached, with all that it involves having children. With the aggravating of being almost morning (7 of the morning) , the two employees who attended us did it in a magistral way, resolving the problem in 10 minutes. The receptionist quickly gave us a room card that was empty for if we needed to get into the bathroom, at last it was not necessary to use it, but there is the detail. The cleaner in 5 minutes resolved the attack.

Great hotel, we were really impressed. I was waiting much less for this price. So location is very nice (if you’re traveling from Barcelona then I recommend you to consider to travel on a bus as the bus station in Salou is just 3 mins walk from a hotel, very convenient) We loved the breakfast with a view and kind administrator who helped us to call a taxi. Cleanliness is nice! The only minus was there was no water when we arrived at 11pm: either in a room or a possibility to buy that. But other then that — really recommend you that place!

Hotel was in a great location, close to the beach, train station and lots of cafes/shops / restaurants. Everything was walkable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - eventhough we speak very limited spanish. Pastries and bottled water were provided each morning and there were tea and coffee facilities in the lobby. The hotel air conditioning was really strong, we never felt too hot overnight and the room was very clean and well presented!

I stayed here for two weeks for a university program. As I was there for a while it's easiest to do a bulleted list of pros/cons: Pros: * Location: Directly on Plaça de la Font, so if you're someone who wants to be right next to restaurants, bars, clubs and shops this is for you; also close to the Cathedral, the old town and the Roman ruins (amphitheater, circus, forum); a short walk from Platja del Miracle, a clean, lifeguarded beach where I was always able to find good space no matter the day or time. * I had a double room at the back of the property, whose window faced onto another flat but with a small terrace between us. Thus it was quiet and got direct sunlight most of the day. The room had an AC unit that cooled the room quickly, and also had decent shelf and hanger space given the room size (small, but that's typical of European hotel rooms, especially in old buildings). * The room was cleaned every day—towels changed every day, sheets changed every few days. Post-COVID I've come to expect the opposite—that hotel rooms will only be cleaned once a week or upon request—so that was a pleasant surprise. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful. Cons: * Automated check-in—by far the biggest con. The hostel didn't send our trip coordinator, who wasn't in-country, the access code to the front door, though it was supposed to have been sent 24h before. So I arrived, the first in my group to get there, not realizing this would be needed. Eventually after waiting outside for some time another guest happened to be going inside, and let me in. The machine was wonky at first but eventually worked, at least for me; other guests checking in at the same time as the later arrivals in my group, however, had worse luck, and I'm not sure if they were ever able to reach a Forum rep to access their rooms. * No on-site staff, poorly-manned hostel phone line—we had a situation in our group later that week where a group member forgot their key in their room on their way to dinner, and ended up having to sleep in the small lobby area overnight as nobody from the Forum number provided was picking up the phone. The pin number the automated machine was requesting in order to issue a new key had never been sent to our group coordinator either, hence why the group member was never able to get a new key issued from the machine. * Other people in my university group had single rooms in the center of the property. Thus they did not ever have direct sunlight; their rooms either faced a wall or a disused lift shaft at the center of the property. This is just something for people to be aware of when they're making the bookings; the room photos on the site are not representative of most of the rooms of the property. * Accessibility: there is no lift/elevator, and it is a four-story property with steep flights of stairs between floors. If anyone in your party is disabled or otherwise has mobility or fitness issues, or if you simply have a lot of luggage,

Good first impressions - well put together hotel with great amenities and nice staff. First evening I ordered room service - It took over 1hour 15 minutes to arrive, and that's after I went to ask at the reception. Also the room door wouldn't shut properly - it was still open when it seemingly had clunked shut - but this was dealt with swiftly, thank you. First shower I had - oh dear - it has a head with one narrow spray (not like a regular/ normal round or rectangular one) that fires at you almost horizontally and in a narrow clump (irritating and impractical) - so even when you try and slow the pressure, it still goes to the back of the bath, over the bath end, and swamps the bathroom - firstly you simply cannot shower with such a dumb 'design student' reject style shower head, and secondly you'll spend several minutes after finishing having a shower, using up all the towels to mop the bathroom floor, and leave them in a giant wet mess, only to start smelling during the night - terrific (not) ! The last time I experienced a shower head that went only horizontal over the back of the bath, was a (very good, apart from this,) two star hotel in Morocco - but even that one had a regular round head (so you could actually wash properly/ normally under it), not a single tiny narrow head like at this hotel. The room I had was the cheapest, and apart from not having an opening window (I know this is kind of standard these days, so I'm not bothered), it was a well appointed comfortable room and even had a side view of the Med, which was great. People will always come to this hotel because of its awesome location, including a roof terrace ..commanding some of the best full vantage points in Tarragona (and many other reasons), but I hope the complacency of them knowing this, doesn't hold them back from considering customers' improvements / suggestions. I had pasta carbonara for dinner the 2nd night - a few tubes of pasta in a thin limp sauce, with some almost microscopic strands of ham (seemed like a microwave job) - no bread with it, no salad, very very unsatisfactory it was ..I was still hungry, so I ordered a small pizza, which was ok, but seemed like a basic supermarket one (it wasn't good), and it took a long time to arrive. The rooftop pool, they call a 'plunge pool', but this is underselling it - I did lots of lengths in it, it's maybe 4ft deep .. it's great. The lower pool is also nice and is much bigger and deeper. The day I left, the fire alarm went off at about 7am - A bit annoying. Some people started to leave the building and some probably didn't. This is overall a very good hotel, and I was really impressed. I liked the staff on reception, the breakfast staff and the rooftop bar/ restaurant staff - they were all very friendly and very efficient - This is especially nice when you're by yourself. Tarragona is great and swimming in the sea was wonderful too.

GGuest UserMy husband and I had a week away from Barcelona staying at this adults only hotel. The reception staff were all friendly but especially Bea who was extremely helpful with things to go and see whilst we were here as the weather was not the best. Rooms were really nice, clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, but the pillows not so comfy. Could have done with a table on the balcony too. Breakfast was a good choice with the option to order freshly cooked too and the staff were friendly and kept the place ticking over nicely. The spa was a bit of a disappointment as it only has steam room and sauna and a jacuzzi for 8 people, so we only used once and the games room was not available durin the week due to conference. Fortunately we had our own cards and dominoes. Overall a good visit to Salou, where we visited Cambrils, Tarragona, Reus and Sama Park out of tourist season. I am sure it would be buzzing come Easter onwards. Thanks to the Magnolia Team for the great overall service.

GGuest UserThe rooms are tiny. Paper thin walls. No bathroom door. Just a swinging glass door. Anything that happens in the bathroom is heard throughout the room. No in room coffee. If you are used to AC Marriott levels of service you will be disappointed here. We booked a family room for our family of three. We requested a higher level floor corner with a view. We received confirmation that the hotel would do everything they could to accommodate our request. The room they gave us was interior with a view of a brick wall and it was so small the three of us could barely stand at the same time, and no place to sit just on the bed. When I asked about them accommodating our request they told me that the people that respond to specific requests have no idea what types of rooms are available in the hotel. The reception staff was friendly yet very novice and did not understand the concept of taking care of the guest. I requested ice to take to our room and 15 minutes later, while waiting in the lobby, I received a little bucket with eight cubes of ice and was told the charge would be one euro for the ice. There was no manager on duty. Reception staff told me that this Hotel is for individual business travelers, not families. This is true. We had to purchase an additional room at full price to accommodate our son. The family room is not large enough to accommodate three people comfortably. We will not be staying here again and will be very hesitant about booking accommodations with AC Marriott again…

The beautiful old buildings that make up the hotel are in the most picture perfect village of Altafulla and our expectations were v high for our little Spa Break. First Impressions : our suite was basic, lacking in any personality or chic soft furnishing touches. It felt very cold, clinical and like an unloved basic air b n b not a supposed 4 star historic hotel. The living area was also super dark, no real amenities in the bathroom besides nailed to the wall shower gel / shampoo. No luxe touches at all, no mini bar, coffee maker… nothing that I’ve come to expect from a European 4 star hotel. The lovely Italian male receptionist couldn’t have been more helpful tho he moved us almost immediately and continued to help us throughout our stay despite our issues so 5 stars for him. The housekeeping staff was also lovely and our waitress in the super fancy resto. Here are the list of issues that the hotel need to address: - Sinks are still shallow the water just splashes back at you. V much style over practicality - only 1 bathmat in a room for 2 people - grill in shower came off and moved around - no rug , no paintings/ photos/ no coffee machine or kettle / no mini bar - no room service - no tissues / cotton buds / body lotion / conditioner - safe was not working I had reserved spa slots and massages n advance but when we arrived the Spa is NOT a spa it’s a tiny facility with a v small jacuzzi type pool big enough for 4 people and another tiny plunge pool all in a very confined space which feels claustrophobic with more than 2 or 3 people in. The sauna is tiny as is the steam room which was not even working. Never mind we thought we will brave the cold and go for a lovely outdoor swim … another reason we choose this hotel as according to the website the pool would be open, it was not ! It was being dosed with chlorine and we were not allowed in. The spa had double booked our massages and in fact they could only accommodate one of us the following day and the therapist was one hour late as her car had broken down and when she did arrive made no apology, made my friend wait until she’d had a coffee and then administered a very poor massage with next to no pressure despite being asked several times to go harder. She didn’t ask any health questions about allergies or injuries …. Shockingly poor ! The dinner at the restaurant was v good if a little fancier that what we fancied but the pizza resto wasn’t open. The lighting in the restaurant v bright and lacking ambience as a result. The winery trip was interesting and the village is fabulous with a couple of great bars and restos and an amazing deli. It’s a shame about the hotel as it could be spectacular if the management spent some money on some tweaks that would make a world of difference to the guest experience. A good interior designer could help to warm up and personalise the gorgeous old buildings

CCarlyPros - close to the park and close enough to go for food at night. Breakfast was nice and not to busy if you go at 8am. Expect to queue otherwise Cons - we did the roulette but they didn't even tell us which hotel we were in. We ended up just turning up to el paso and finding that we were meant to be staying there. They also failed to send through our room number and then to top it off after giving details to reception for our pickup car the security refused entry because they hadn't been sent through. Pool side loungers were really uncomfortable. Toilet paper was worse than the 2 star budget we stayed in next and some toiletries that were meant to be provided were empty. I wouldn't class this as a 4star hotel and we didn't even visit in peak season so some of the above isn't something I would expect.

MMarc GaldonFerrerGreat option to stay if you want to visit Port Aventura amusement park. Staying for the night at the hotel will grant you access to the park on both days, the check-in and the check-out. Rooms are clean and comfortable, for a good rest after spending the day at the park. The swimming pool is also amazing, big and beautiful, it is an adventure in itself. Only issue is the service: you can feel that the staff do their best, however during peak season, they are so busy that for sure you will have to line up in order to get anything done. They are moving ahead and making moves for automatic self-service processes: like self- check out, but still is not enough. You gotta then have some patience and wait until your turn comes.

SSulleyACan’t recommend this hotel enough, location , staff and service was amazing. It is abit on a hill, but this didn’t bother me at all. I had the breakfast included and was so pleased, so much to choose from! Staff were super friendly and room was cleaned daily. I did not have the sea view but had a lovely view of palm trees from my room which always had a nice breeze coming. Loved every bit and will most likely stay here again when I visit Salou. Thanks for amazing service 4R Playa Park Hotel.

GGuest UserWe returned today from a 1 week stay at Ohotel Les Oliveres and I can only say I wish it could've been for longer. The hotel itself is impressive and kept immaculately clean throughout however our stay was made even better by the wonderful staff who go out of their way on a daily basis, to make your stay even better. From the reception staff, bartenders, lifeguards, restaurant and entertainment staff, I can honestly say I have never been made to feel more welcomed and comfortable. We stayed on an 'all inclusive' package and the food each day was varied and delicious. A stones throw away is a beautiful little pebble beach with stunning views along the winding pathway. Yes, it may be away from the hustle and bustle of some holiday resorts but what you have on offer here is more than enough. We have absolutely loved our stay here and would return in a heartbeat. Thankyou for a fabulous holiday everyone.

I’ve just got back from my weeks stay at this hotel, and it’s off the mark at being a 4 star hotel, it’s a two star at best. There are so many negatives to mention with regards to this hotel and it is such a shame, because I’m not one who generally likes to complain and will often see the positives in things but unfortunately when it comes to this hotel I’m struggling to find any real positives, and it set such a bad experience for my holiday and I wouldn’t recommend nor would I return, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to have this kind of experience with this hotel, so please really do consider this and read the reviews before booking. One positive I would like to mention would be that the room I had on the 5th floor was lovely and clean and of quite a high standard, I think it must have been recently renovated, and the view of the theme parks in the distance was really lovely too. Some of the other positives I would like to mention was that the lady who was working in the bar by the pool, unfortunately I didn’t get her name, was so lovely and polite and always had a smile on her face and was really friendly and welcoming, so I want to thank her for her service as she was amazing. However, with regards to the majority of the other staff, they were rude and not very helpful at all, they just didn’t seem to care, and the “managers” seriously need to work on there customer service skills as the way they speak to there quests is actually disgusting and shameful. Although the booking system for breakfast and dinner was easy to navigate thru a QR code, most nights I opted to eat out in restaurants, as for me personally the food wasn’t great at all, yes there was some what of a variety but the quality wasn’t up to standard and not at all enjoyable for all inclusive. The restaurant was always so chaotic and busy and people just rushing and pushing in front of you when queuing to get your food it wasn’t worth the hassle for me. The rooftop pool and gym weren’t open on my visit so I can’t comment on these, however for the other pools for me they werent great either. They need a lot of work and maintenance doing to them and I literally only used the pool once because I just got fed up with the silly rules they had in place. I have to wear glasses and without them I cannot see and in the pool I was whistled at to take off my glasses yet in other hotels i have stayed at in other countries this has never been an issue for me so I didn’t understand this at all, yet despite this the lifeguard was happy to sit there and allow kids with arm bands on and kids who cannot swim to jump into the deep end of the pool, now to me that just doesn’t make any sense what so ever. Also, no inflatables were allowed either. During my stay I didn’t see any activities or events take place despite the fact that they had a board up in reception of the animations they had taking place for the week, so I can imagine families who had children , they would have got very bore

GGuest UserWe Italians have the common place where the sea on the Spanish Mediterranean coast is rough everywhere, more or less than the Adriatic Veneto or Romani. Indeed, few know that the short coastal track from Comarruga to Tarragona is a marine reserve since the 1970s, with a ban on the woods, fishing and bathing facilities. A thirty miles of almost Caribbean sea with the largest sand beaches of the Tirreno. Just in front of the most beautiful of these beaches, this giant hotel, just renovated with direct access to the sea and thought for families, has been built for 50 years, but where it is also well in couples. Spacious rooms, excellent buffet restaurant, spacious breakfast, night silence and a wonderful panorama view in a small countryside with few distractions, historic residential target of second homes of characters with Barcelona and Saragossa. Week of ferry for 180 euros with half-pension and sea view and free beach in front of us almost desert! Paradise for those who enjoy the holiday into the wild.
