Our stay at El Albergue was wonderful! If you are planning to go to Machu Picchu, this is the most convenient spot for your stay—hands down. You can literally step out the lobby door and get onto the train. Since we left very early for our tour, they even packed us a sack breakfast to take with us! They have also created a garden oasis that you would NEVER imagine is right next to a train. You have to see it to believe it—stunningly beautiful. The manager and front desk employees were very accommodating. Prior to arriving in Ollantaytambo, I emailed extensively with the reservations agent, the amazing Helen Saenz. She helped us arrange the transportation for another tour, as well as a transfer to our next hotel in Urubamba. She responded quickly, made great recommendations, and took care of everything we needed. Thank you, Helen. Outstanding customer service! We highly recommend El Albergue.

I was really impressed with this hotel. Sure, it's basic, but it has everything you need. The front desk staff was super helpful and spoke English well. Breakfasts in all of Peru, as I found, were simple, and this was no different. But they had eggs and toast, coffee, juice and tea so I was happy. The beds were comfortable and the views are great. I do recommend this hotel! It's super clean, too.

This is an absolutely amazing resort! The staff go above and beyond! Please tip them at the end of your stay. They work so hard and are there for your every need. The beds are very comfortable, the shower pressure and hot water are great! Carol the owner is amazing, she has built such an amazing healing space. Her gardens are truly special ! We had great weather and enjoyed every minute of this special space! The chef is also wonderful. There was not a meal that we did not enjoy and we are not vegetarian . Thank you Willka T’ika! We hope to come visit again sometime soon!❤️❤️

Good environment, good location, you can take the train directly to Machu Picchu at the hotel. The room is large, with Walk In Closet. Good service.

We are a family of four traveling with 2 young adult children. We spent two nights at the Amaru Valle Hotel in July 2022. What a magical, fairy-tale like place! There are around 30 accomodations in a series of alpine style buildings scattered across the grounds. Ours was perfect - four beds in a spacious room with a view of the mountains and a very nice bathroom. The grounds are lovely with gardens, cobblestones, and views of the mountains. The staff so friendly and helpful. A lovely breakfast of eggs, bread, fresh fruit and coffee/tea is included. The place is located a short 8 - 10 minute walk from town housed behind a large wooden door. Our room for 4 was very comfortable and reasonable. Highly recommend!

This is such a peaceful lodge. There were 3 vendors in the courtyard selling Peruvian items and artwork. There was also a woman weaving the Peruvian cloth. There are a couple of alpacas on the property that they move around the grounds. We had some leftovers from lunch and a worker was so gracious by heating it up for us and providing silverware. The breakfast is awesome. Just walking around the grounds was nice and relaxing. The room was very clean and nice as well. We were able to leave our luggage here since you are not allowed to take more than 1 backpack on the train to Machu Picchu.

Summary: Inkaterra has a wonderful setting and property, situated at the Machu Picchu train station. The food is good and plentiful. Service from the staff can be quite mixed. If your room smells like wood smoke, you probably want to switch, so everything you own doesn't smell like wood smoke. That said, we would stay there again. The convenience of walking out of the train, up the ramp and the Inkaterra porter is there to greet you and take your luggage is wonderful The hotel's beautiful location, situated in the cloud forest at about 6,700' with lush vegetation, has views to the river, train and town below. The individual rooms/ cabins (or casas) are sprinkled across the landscape and up the hill. The service could be very mixed. I had difficulty at check-in with the reception because a new employee, who also had more limited English, didn't know what she was doing. At each stumble, a manager would eventually step in, but it was so frustrating. Reason for only 4 stars: The cabin (#18) for my husband and I had a fireplace and a lovely room BUT it smelled so strongly of smoke that my asthma flared and our clothes, as well as our duffel, stank for days afterwards or, until washed. The property was full that night and after my struggles to check in, we stayed put. Breakfast and dinner were included for us and the food was very good, as was tea time. There were 2 choices each for the starter and for the main course, as well as multiple dessert options. The kitchen was very accomodating to my food allergies. Thank you!! The Welcome cocktail was our first Pisco Sour and worth drinking! Finally, the ecology center and the rangers/ guides there are very knowledgeable and interesting. Machu Picchu is clearly the star of the show but it's located on the eastern slope of the Andes and the ecology, terrain and birds there are very interesting. The hotel has multiple feeding stations that attract colorful birds of many kinds and are so easy to see. While walking the orchid trail, we saw a Cock-of the-Rock, a big deal for serious birders and one of the amazing birds of Peru.

Hotel Luz Garden was great! The staff treated us like family and were very nice! They came by each night to see what time we wanted breakfast and even let us stay in our room a little later so we didn't have to set around town waiting for or train. I will definitely stay here again.

El hotel caminando está cerca de la estación de trenes. Está al lado del río aquascalientes, por lo que es un lugar muy agradable y relajante. Nos recibió en el hotel Fran, el recepcionista muy amable y atento a todo lo que necesitáramos. Te agradecemos mucho el hacer de nuestro viaje una grata experiencia. Desayuno rico y nos prepararon huevos revueltos. Luego de nuestra visita a Machu Pichu, nos permitieron quedarnos esperando en el loft a que saliera el tren, podíamos cargar nuestros celulares y tomar té. Además nos guardaron las maletas. Nos hicieron sentir muy acogidos. Además, Fran fue muy amable y me acompañó para dejarme en la entrada de las termas, ya que no sabía muy bien donde era. Fran, eres el mejor, muchas gracias.
