My husband and I stayed one night at the Burnaby location in order to attend a dinner function nearby. We checked into our room and the heater was already on and set at 68 and seemed to be working OK. Shortly after we arrived in the room, a maintenance person knocked on the door to see how the heater was working. That should have clued us in as to what would happen next. A bit later, the unit started to spit out cooler air. I might add that the unit never cycled off and on as it should. I turned the unit up to around 72 to see if that would make a difference but no it did not. We contacted the front desk and within 5 minutes, maintenance came to check. We were told that the heater had to remain at 68, no higher or it wouldn’t work. I have never heard of such a thing. High temperature in Vancouver was mid 40's dipping into the 30's at night. By this time, it was 5:30 and we had to head out the door for the dinner event at 6PM. I wish we would have demanded a different room, because when we returned it was definitely cooler in the room. We were both tired and needed to leave the hotel early in the morning so we decided to “gut it out”. I looked for additional blankets and there were none. I wound up sleeping a total of 2 hours in my coat. This was not a comfortable experience.  I am generously giving this property 2 stars as the room itself was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The front desk clerk kindly gave us a 50% discount for our discomfort which was the best she could do, but when I contacted their HQ was offered a 50% discount off a future stay. Don't think I will take them up on that offer, but thanks anyway.

To set the context I am a seasoned hotel/motel traveler, having over 900 nights stays in the last 10 years alone. This is the 1st time I will be writing a terrible review for a business. I was excited to find this place as I was travelling with my 2 dogs and liked the cottage style accommodations and green space. I was personally excited by the history of this establishment and all of the TV shows and Movies filmed there over the years. I pulled into the parking lot to check in at 2pm and was informed by the front desk person that check in was at 4pm and there was NO way my room would be ready until 4pm. I did note that I thought 4pm was a bit of a late check in time, and the clerk told that ”it is common place for most hotels and motels to have a check in at 4pm”, I quickly noted that in over 900 hotel stays this was the first place that had that late a check in. I asked him if there was nay chance that the room might be ready before 4pm, noting that i had 2 dogs that were tired from there travels in the car, the response was quick and emphatic NO! Telling me again that check in is at 4pm, like I had not heard that the first time. I stayed very calm and said well if the room is ready before the 4pm check in time here is my cell # and if you could kindly give me a call. I then set off for some lunch and a long walk with the dogs (both senior dogs 16 &14). I returned at 3:45pm and found a new person at the front check and asked if my room was ready? The answer ”sorry it has not been cleaned yet”, ”okay can you tell me the room number so I can at least park and prepare to unload?” he did tell me the number and i found the room. As check in was now only 15 minuets away we could wait out those 15 mins. At 3;50pm i watched a very under motivated cleaning person arrive and slowly proceed to clean the room. I had a 5:30pm appointment in Port Moody with my daughter and her husband and their dog so i was i a bit of a hurry. I went back the the hotel lobby at 4:10 pm and said BTW it's now 4:10 can i have my keys? The reply was ”well we haven't finished cleaning the room yet” , I returned with ”i thought check in was 4pm and it's now 10 after 4”. Okay I was still very calm and though no need to get excited or angry at this person because he clearly DOES NOT CARE. So we waited and I returned at 4:30 as time was getting tight for my plans. ”Is my room ready now?” , ”oh there seems to be a problem with the sink” - ”ok when will the sink be fixed? ” ” I don't know but I have called maintenance' , ”ok when will maintenance arrive”, ”I really don't know” not the answers I was looking for, ”ok do you have another room?” answer ”No” - ”okay when to you expect that I can get into my room ?” I thought a fair question - answer ” I don't know” - now just silence hung in the air - I spoke next and said well i think i will need to cancel my room and get a refund. ”that's up to you” said the front desk person. This time I checked in for business needs, and it was a great experience! Every staff member is very kind. Someone comes to clean it every day. The sound insulation is also good. It is highly recommended!

Paradox Hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in a long time. We typically stay at Four Seasons, Fairmont’s, and other hotels similar to these types of hotels. Paradox had first class service starting at the valet (Marty), along with all individuals at the front counter. To top off our stay, we had Andrew from concierges that took great care of us, as he went above and beyond for my wife’s 40th birthday celebration. -I will be writing a person letter to Andrew, for all the amazing things he did to make our stay so memorable. It’s hard to put into words the results of our trip, as all of it was amazing, from the lounge (Megan/Morgan/Vanessa were all fantastic and were extremely friendly. To the Mansion nightclub, where everyone was fantastic and provided amazing service, as we decided to get table service for the birthday celebration. If anyone is contemplating staying at the Paradox, do not think twice about booking, you will not regret it. Also, amazing walking distance to so many amazing shops and restaurants. All-in-all, we will be back to see all the amazing people we met and we look forward to our next trip to the Paradox Hotel.

Hotel location is perfect. It’s right next to the Richmond Night Market and has included parking in the garage right next to it. The staff, minus one experience, was all very nice and helpful. Our room was very cozy and perfect for what we needed. The AC blew nice and cold. My only complaint that could’ve brought the rating up higher was that our toilet’s water kept rising and would get self clogged even though we literally just had got there and just used the bathroom to pee. On our way out, we decided to go the front desk to ask someone to service it while we were out. They instead just asked me “so do you want a plunger?”. We had somewhere to be so I just said sure, maybe I can just take a look at it when I’m back. Well, after getting the toilet to flush, it just clogged again. So we pretty much had to use the plunger every single time we needed to use the bathroom which was really annoying. It really brought the experience of staying there, down.

Stayed at this hotel to be close to a wedding that we were attending at UBC. Perfect location with great restaurants around. Although close to the hospital, we did not hear any noises overnight. The free breakfast buffet that came with our stay was also a great bonus ! This is my second holiday inn vancouver centre stay after my first stay in 2018 for a business trip, and I overall really enjoy the hotel!

(My name is anonymized to protect my identity for this review) This review was delayed due to an ongoing police investigation about our stay here in the Versante Hotel. My wife and I booked our stay at the Versante hotel, originally from Monday, August 29th until Saturday, August 3rd. We booked the penthouse suite on the 14th floor and loved it so much that we cancelled our reservations at the Fairmont hotel, just so we can extend our stay before we go to the airport for our family trip on the 6th. What we thought was going to be one of the most relaxing stays through our hotel experience quickly turned into a nightmare at the Versante hotel. It was a betrayal of trust from the Versante hotel staff and what Versante portrayed their company’s values to be. I would like to mention there were a few notable staff members that were exceptional and compassionate, and it’s a shame that this experience would reflect poorly on the hard working individuals who really tried to make our stay memorable. What had occurred in your hotel with the staff members that you hired to take care of your guests was unbelievably heartbreaking and I do not wish for anyone to go through what my wife and I had to witness.  On Tuesday, August 30th we booked for a hot stone massage at Spa Versante and confirmed our booking for a shuttle the next day at 3:45PM. Manager Yasin was the one who had confirmed our shuttle booking for the spa the next day at 3:45PM. On Wednesday, August 31st at 315PM we received a call from our hotel room (1404) from Nini, the front desk receptionist. Nini asked to confirm if we had booked a shuttle for 330PM. We then told her it was confirmed for 345PM. She said OK and we hung up. At 345PM my wife went downstairs to meet the shuttle that we had booked the day before for my wife’s spa appointment. There was no shuttle. My wife asked the Valet who was there and he asked her for her name and said it was not ticketed. He then took my wife to the receptionist who was working at the front, named Nini, and asked about the shuttle booking. My wife informed her about her appointment at the spa and shuttle booking, which should have made it obvious to Nini that the booking was for the Versante Spa further away. Nini then told her there was no shuttle that goes to the spa and it only goes to YVR. Ultimately, Nini said my wife wasn’t booked for a shuttle. When my wife told her we had received a phone call from her (at 315PM) to confirm our shuttle, Nini had denied making any calls to our room. Nini then told my wife there wasn’t a shuttle coming and pointed at the door and told her to walk. Nini did not provide any help or resolution, she had dismissed my wife’s needs as a guest and failed to provide her with adequate information for her confirmed bookings at Versante Spa. It was only two girls working, Nini and Monica at front desk. Upon speaking in person with Nini, my wife recognized her voice on the phone. She had denied ever calling my room to confir

The moment I walked into the lobby and was greeted by the staff, I knew it was going to be an incredible trip. To start, the location is amazing. Walking distance to so many restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. What made the trip extra special was the head concierge, Alexsander. It was my first time in Canada and he told me so much about the history of some buildings and recommended all the places to go. He even took the extra step to walk my friend and me to Palate Kitchen around the corner to make sure we didn’t get lost and introduced us to the hostess. It was such an incredible level of customer service that I haven’t ever experienced , even when staying at other 5 star hotels. All the recommendations of sites to see made our trip absolutely perfect . The overnight front desk agent even offered me water and offered to call a cab when my Uber cancelled for my 5am flight. The other employee working that shift even carried my luggages to the car in the rain and waited with me outside until they were there. The room was spotless and so beautiful. Housekeeping did an amazing job. We were also given a handwritten card with Rosé upon arrival as well as breakfast vouchers and early check in. Thank you so much to the staff for making my vacation so magical. I can’t wait to refer my friends vacationing to stay at this hotel. What a special experience! Also, the breakfast and restaurant staff was phenomenal !

My family of 5 stayed overnight in Sept, prior to another flight the following day. The hotel was welcoming and the room completely acceptable. The Bed was comfortable and there were not complaints for the children regarding the sofa bed or the rollaway, which was requested. The free shuttle from and to the airport takes weight off your shoulders. Great when you're new to a large city or you don't require a rental. Thos is our second time here in 6 years. Standard is unchanged. Staff friendly and as mentioned welcoming and totally acceptable. Thanks Team. Steve

Great location! The room was basic but very comfortable. It was clean and complete with the basic in room amenities. I would say the price is on the high side, but at that point you are paying for the location. Front desk staff were great and extremely helpful. There is a whitespot restaurant attached to the building which was great, very clean and friendly staff. I would book this hotel again on my next Vancouver visit. It would be great if they could reduce the nightly rate slightly.
