We stayed at Ad Place in Italy at the end of a 2 week vacation with our adult children to celebrate my 60th birthday. My husband booked and paid for 3 rooms for 3 nights. The hotel is a short walk from the water taxi. We arrived early but happily our rooms were ready. The front desk attendant (Matteo) was pleasant and efficient. My husband told him he wanted a canal view room. He took us upstairs to the top floor. There is no elevator, which is not a problem for us. But if you have problems walking ask for a ground floor room. Fortunately, they have a stair lift to deliver your bags. He told our children he would show them the two rooms so they could decide what room they each wanted. He then lead us to our canal view room. I assumed it would be the nicest, since I did not get a choice. Our room was very small, a bit dated and color scheme was purple. We had to hang out the window to see the canal. The shower was a corner shower much like you see in a camper and very small. I am a smaller person, I weigh 120l bs and it was hard for me to turn around. We unpacked and went to explore the city. At dinner which the hotel helped us book. We compared notes on our rooms, our daughter and her husband shared our same disappointment about the size and quality of the room. Our son and his wife said they thought it was great and even had a canal view. After dinner, which was an excellent recommendation, I went to see my son's room and it was 100 times better then mine with a better view, bedroom and bathroom much larger and they had a better shower too. I went to the desk in the morning and Matteo was there. I told him I was disappointed with my room and asked to be moved. He told me they were full and the only way to get me in a better room was to ask my son to move. I told him I was not doing that. I asked him why he put us in the worst room. (my daughters was larger and nicer than ours but faced a building no view) He said it was because my husband asked for a canal view. He apologized and said there was a possibility we could move to a better room on the last night but he would talk to his manager. They were unable to move us and gave us a bottle of prosecco as an apology. The breakfast was lovely and there was always a hot pot of coffee. The breakfast staff were very nice. If flying out of Venice at the end of your stay definity get the staff to set up the private water taxi. The taxi comes right to the front of the hotel and it was a nice way to leave Venice. I would not stay there again
