We had a lovely stay! Although it is a narrow, gravel road for most of the way once you come off the motorway, it is beautiful, peaceful and worth the drive. The staff were attentative and service was great. The villas are spacious (attached to one other villa), have a lovely deep bath and a double shower is great. Breakfast was so nice! We

Stunning accommodation and location. My husband and I treated ourselves to a night at Woodhouse the night before departing New Zealand. It is only an hour and a half from Auckland airport despite being quite out of the way in amongst hilly sheep farms. Everything was wonderful...views, decor, food. The main lodge and the cabins have been beautifully decorated. Cabins are large with ample living area including a fireplace and a large bathroom with double shower and spa tub. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Customer service was excellent. My only complaint...our spa bath and gas fireplace did not work.

This place needs an overhaul, it's very tired . Considering it is supposed to be a luxury lodge overall our stay was extremely disappointing. Basics in the room were overlooked for example there were no hand towels in the bathroom and only one robe instead of two. This is a basic oversight. Meals were included in the cost of our stay. The fixed menu was limited however, the service and food quality was extremely disappointing. We're not fussy eaters, however, I've had higher quality meals locally. Sides were charged extra, I feel this is questionable given what was served as part of the main. We ordered the vegetables and potatoe skins. The vegetables saved the entire meal. The potato skins were terrible. Entrees and Desserts were ok, although the pickle on my entree were unpleasant and over powered the parfait. No one asked if we would like coffees etc after dinner. I had set my sights on their house cocktail before dinner but was told they were missing an ingredient so I just stuck to my soda, lime and bitters. It was pretty undrinkable and had I realised it would cost $12 I would have sent it back. My birthday drink ended up as water as I don't drink wine. Breakfast was better, but lacked the attention one expects. The included coffee was ok but just as with dinner, no one asked if we would like another drink. We left feeling rather let down. Definitely a birthday treat gone wrong. Definitely will NOT return as there are better places to stay, with better service and food. Sorry to say I cannot recommend staying here. We both felt that the minimum was supplied in order for them to fulfill their obligation to complete the requirements of your booking.

We had a wonderful stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. The highlight for us was a swim in the beautiful pool and the spa and sauna as the sun was setting. The breakfast was superb. A very special experience and highly recommended.

Panoramic Perfection. Intriguing Infrastructure. Helpful Hosts. Pleasant Peacocks and Pukekos. Rambling Rabbits. Great Gardens. Lovely Lodges. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and all concerned for making our 38th wedding anniversary weekend a resounding success. PTL

Shouted the hubby one night away without the kids. Only an hour away from where we live. Amazing view, so nice & peaceful. Only downfall was the driveway to the place was narrow & we could not see upcoming vehicles approaching around the windy roads. The meals were overpriced a three course dinner (small portions) was $118 & breakfast was a-lot more. Otherwise overall a nice short getaway.

VERY remote but well worth the drive up the gravel road. The property itself is wonderful.
