Marktgasse Hotel

What a lovely hotel in the heart of the old town. This hotel is a short walking distance from the train station so very convenient to get too. It’s got great secure entry for guests and staff always available if required. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The teas and coffees available in the reception area is a nice touch. Although there is a great coffee machine in the rooms. Breakfast in the hotel is in a little place called Delish next to the hotel and it’s lovely food and great service. All in all I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others.

Don't expect anything in line with the price level. It's a beautiful old town building, the rooms are nicely decorated, but also quite spartan. There isn't even a mini bar with mineral water. The wifi is just very random, which in 2024 is just not acceptable at this price and rating level. No room service, etc. It's very nicely located in the old town and hence you have a lot of restaurant around which brings also the down side of the noise in the street, especially on week-ends. I wanted to have a beer downstairs in the hotel's own bar, but I was told that the tables were reserved, so they stayed empty (half the terrace) for more than 2 hours. It doesn't take 2 hours to drink a beer :-)

Amazing location. It was my first time in Zurich, so I walked from the train station and was greeted by lovely staff and a clean, air conditioned room. It was so fun to walk along the river and explore Old Town from the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was good, as well. I was in the city during the first week of August, so the restaurant was closed due to the annual holiday on 8/1.

Very pretty, clean and neat hotel within walking distance of the main tourist drag. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. A nice touch to offer complimentary coffee and water in the reception area. Lots of busy restaurants nearby and trams

This place is comfortable and stylish, but also quirky and kind of expensive for what you get. I stayed there a couple of times solo and with the family and liked its historic feel. It's pretty clear that they aren't optimized for families, though -- they made us book two rooms, but then one of rooms was huge and would have been fine for all four of us. The furnishings are simple and stylish, fairly modern, but the floors and ceilings are slanted and at odd angles. Staff was for the most part very helpful and friendly, but as with many things Swiss I wished they had been a bit more flexible about their conditions.

I stayed with my husband and 1 year old daughter in a big double room. The hotel is located in the old town, it’s an old building that has been refurbished. Getting there was easy - we arrived by train and took a tram to the hotel. It’s a just a few blocks away but in a rocky and uphill. The hotel is not very accessible, it was uncomfortable for us with a baby and a stroller. There’s an elevator, but in each floor you then have small stairs. We were able to check in right away, the receptionist was nice and the hotel personnel were polite and attentive. The room was ready with the crib we requested in advance through booking. There was no fridge (there is one you could use in the lobby), and the bathroom is divided in 2 rooms that seem wardrobes. In one you have the toilet and on the other one you have a bathtub. It was nicely decorated but it was uncomfortable. The floor is wood, and it was very hot since it had a central heating. We had to turn on the AC. There’s no wardrobe, only a desk. We had breakfast included. It was rather poor and the coffee was not good either. Not baby friendly since it also had stairs and no high chair. even though hotels in Zurich are pricey, I don’t feel this one is worth the price.
