A Morning at the Forbidden City: Discover the Heart of Beijing’s Imperial History

My recent morning exploring the Forbidden City was nothing short of a journey through time. It’s Beijing’s iconic complex and once the exclusive home of emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It’s like stepping into a word where each building, gate, and courtyard whispers tales of Chinese imperial life and history. #tourism #explore I arrived early around 8:30 am to beat the crowds and fully immerse myself in the experience. The Forbidden City opens at 8:30 am, and I highly recommend booking your ticket online in advance - only 80,000 visitors are allowed daily, so plan ahead! Arriving early also allows for more unobstructed photos and a peaceful start to the say. #historicallandmarks The main attractions are spread along the central axis of the complex. From the iconic Meridian Gate to the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihe Dian), each structure is beautifully intricate, and the details are stunning. I especially enjoyed the Inner Court, where the imperial family lived. Here, the Palace of Heavenly Purity (Qianging Gong) offers insights into the personal lives of the emperors and empresses. Fun Facts to Know: - Largest Palace Complex in the World: With over 980 buildings and 8,700 rooms, the Forbidden City is the largest ancient palace structure in the world. - Symbolic Color and Design: You will notice many roofs are painted yellow - symbolising the emperor’s power. Also, the number of animal figurines on each rooftop hints at the importance of the building. - No Trees Along the Main Path: Ever wonder why central axis is free of trees? It’s believed to prevent any obstruction to the emperor’s grand pathway! Tips for Future Visitors: - Wear Comfortable Shoes: This place is massive, so expect to walk a lot. I walked around 5 kilometres that morning! - Bring Water and Snacks: While there are cafes inside, having water and light snacks can be helpful for longer visits. - Stay Sun-Protected: Mornings can still get sunny, especially in Beijing’s warmer months. Sunscreen and a hat made a big difference for me. My experience was not just about sightseeing but feeling the immerse scale and historical depth of this place. If you are a history enthusiast or love immersive experience, the Forbidden City is an absolute must-visit! #history #culture

My dream when I started reading historical books have always been to travel to those places with rich history. Now that I am working here in China as a teacher, I told myself that someday I'll go to those UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE sites here in China. Thanks trip.com for the convenience of booking my hotel, airlines, and fast trains to these wonderful destinations. Trip.com have made my travel goals a lot more easier. 👏🎉❤️
