Lost in History

Ciqikou Ancient Town is conveniently located close to central Chongqing, easily accessible by bus, car or as we used, the metro. The entrance is directly adjacent to the Metro station. As this was during Chinese New Year, it was busy when we visited, however it was still nice to see. The areas at street level were rather commercialized and catered to tourists. However, to see the older and more attractive buildings, it is advised to climb up the hill and explore the smaller alleyways and stairwells. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the entrance here because the APP is only designed to use the Chinese ID card and not foreign passports, which I thought was very inconvenient and not inclusive. After complaining and getting nowhere, we simple decided to find another entrance to gain entry. You can spend alot of time wandering around and admiring the architecture here, as well as taking photos. There are many places to eat and small quaint bars to enjoy an afternoon beer or coffee, and view the terraces below. If in Chongqing, it's definitely worth a visit. Best time to visit is late afternoon, so can catch sunset and the different lighting as the night comes in. #tripblazers #tigeryear2022 #chongqing
