Ella - Sri Lanka From Above

#bucketlistdestinations Ella is one of those places I would put on a bucket list for the scenery alone. This part of Sri Lanka is all about green mountains, deep valleys and viewpoints where the landscape seems to continue forever. For me, the best way to experience it is to get above the town and see just how dramatic the hill country really is. There are several hikes around Ella, and each gives you a different perspective. From the higher viewpoints, you can see layers of mountains fading into the distance, tea plantations covering the hillsides and clouds moving between the peaks. That's what made Ella memorable for me. There isn't just one panorama you come to photograph and leave. The views keep changing as you walk, and even the same mountains can look completely different depending on the weather and time of day. Ella is popular now, but with scenery like this, I completely understand why.
