The lake water flows out of the southwest estuary, called Tanglangchuan, which is the source of the Pudu River, a tributary of the Jinsha River, the main stream of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The total length of the Dianchi Lake Ring Road is about 120 kilometers (including the Caohai section), with varying road conditions.
