A quaint village far from the hustle and bustle in Zhangzhou, Fujian: Taxia Village

This place is part of the Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster scenic area, serving as an essential path to reach the earth buildings. Most people wouldn't pay much attention to it, and we would have missed this pure land of little bridges and flowing water if the owner of the Wenchang Building Homestay hadn't informed us beforehand! Taxia Village is located at the foot of the mountain of Tianluokeng Tulou. A stream meanders through the middle of the village, with ten stone bridges crossing the river. This 'paradise on earth' is a typical Hakka settlement! Along the river, the earth buildings are nestled against the mountains and water, with more than fifty square and round Tulous. Yude Building and Shunchang Building are located on both sides of the stream, forming a Tai Chi-like pattern when combined with the stream, and viewed from above, they create an 'S' shape. Hence, Taxia Village is known as the 'Tai Chi water town'. More than thirty small and exquisite blue brick buildings are scattered throughout the narrow valley, many of which have been transformed into distinctive homestays, integrating into the lives of the local villagers.
