Yunshuiyao is not only famous for its earthen buildings but also for the largest banyan tree in Fujian Province.|||Yunshuiyao Ancient Town, originally named Changjiao Village, is a historic village. It was renamed Yunshuiyao Ancient Town because the popular movie 'Yunshuiyao' was shot here. Both names, Changjiao Village and Yunshuiyao, exude a literary charm. With ancient trees and houses, gentle breezes on old paths, and small bridges over flowing water, the place seems to have its own barrier that brings a moment of tranquility to those who enter, despite the crowds. Within the scenic area of Yunshuiyao Ancient Town, besides the two World Cultural Heritage earthen buildings 'Hegui Building' and 'Huaiyuan Building', there is also a group of ancient banyan trees that are the tallest, largest, and most concentrated in Fujian Province, consisting of more than a dozen centuries-old banyans. The oldest of these banyans is nearly seven hundred years old, each one lush and with strong roots. Two of them are particularly noteworthy. One is on the pebbles next to a stream, with a massive trunk and a canopy covering an area of 1933 square meters. Its branches extend over 30 meters, and it takes more than ten adults to encircle the base of the trunk. It is the largest banyan tree in Fujian Province. Standing under it, one feels as tiny as an ant, with its sprawling roots and branches resembling dragons, full of character. Another tree is so large that it takes three or four people to embrace it. Underneath, people can be found drinking tea or eating.
