Strolling around Yuliang Dam in Shexian County (Ancient Huizhou City)

Yuliang Dam is located in Yuliang Village, Huicheng Town, Shexian County. It was originally built during the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty, with a history of over 1400 years. It is the most famous ancient water conservancy project in Huizhou, known as the 'Dujiangyan of Southern Anhui'. Yuliang Ancient Town is nestled against the mountains and by the water, and still retains the original appearance of ancient streets, waterways, and docks. It was an important waterway dock for the prosperity of Huizhou merchants for hundreds of years. To tour Yuliang Ancient Town, one can start from the Xin'an Ancient Trail (near Ancient Huizhou City), and then visit in sequence: Baiyun Zen Temple - Li Bai Inquiry Site - Lion Bridge - Ba Wei Ancestral Residence - Fish Scale Street - Hundred Steps Stone Stairs - Yuliang Dam - Wangxian Bridge - Ziyang Bridge.
