However, once you experience it firsthand, you will find its beauty and realize it is a city worth visiting repeatedly.

Yanji has something special!! I stayed for 3 days and felt it wasn't enough!
From Tianjin, I bring you a detailed three-day, two-night travel guide to Yanji!
Transportation:
First, take a train from Tianjin to Changchun, which takes about 13 hours. Then take a high-speed train from Changchun to Yanji, which only takes 2.5 hours. In Yanji city, taxis are the main mode of transportation, which are affordable, and you can usually reach your destination for just a dozen yuan.
Accommodation:
We chose a homestay at Wanda Plaza, newly opened, with fine decoration and clean and tidy. We booked a twin room, which turned out to have two large beds, and later found out it could accommodate four people, at 258 yuan per night, making it a great value for money for groups.
Popular Check-in Spots:
- Korean Ethnic Park: Admission is 27 yuan. The architecture here is beautiful and super suitable for taking photos. There are many portrait studios outside the park, and if you need to take pictures, it is recommended to check the clothing and customer photos in the store before making a decision.
- Yanji Internet Celebrity Barrage Wall: At nightfall, the lights here are dazzling, making it an excellent place for photography. There is a collection of delicacies around, but the quality is mixed.
- Mao'er Mountain National Forest Park: The air is fresh, the scenery is beautiful, and you can enjoy the beautiful view of Yanji from the mountaintop.
- Tumen Port: Here you can clearly see the China-North Korea border line and experience the unique border atmosphere.
Specialty Foods:
- Service Building Cold Noodles: Cold noodles are a specialty of Yanji, with chewy noodles and a sweet and sour soup.
- Wu's Rice House: The signature rice dishes taste authentic, with a rich variety of side dishes that whet the appetite.
- Xing Dou Restaurant: Their Zhajiang noodles and sweet and sour pork are very popular with diners.
- Han Zheng Ginseng Chicken Soup Restaurant: The ginseng chicken soup is nutritious, with tender chicken and delicious soup.
Itinerary
Day1: Arrive in Yanji - Check into the homestay - Visit the Korean Ethnic Park to experience Korean culture and take beautiful photos - Taste Dapuji barbecue.
Day2: Sign up for a day trip to Changbai Mountain departing from Yanji, admire the stunning scenery of Heaven Lake (remember to check the weather in advance) - Check in at Jinli Kebab Shop at night.
Day3: Head to Mao'er Mountain National Forest Park in the morning to enjoy the beauty of nature - Go to the West Market in the afternoon to buy specialties and rice wine - End the pleasant trip.
The total cost (per person) is about 2400 yuan, for an unforgettable trip to Yanji!

Trip to Yanji, China 🇨🇳
It was a trip to Yanji, China. It is a charming city in China’s northeastern Jilin Province. We began our day at Yanji People’s Park, where the snow-covered trees 🌲 and frozen lakes create a magical scene. Walking through the park feels like stepping into a fairytale, and the frosted bridges are perfect for photos 📸 We recommend visiting early in the morning ⛅️ for soft light and a peaceful ambiance. Don’t miss the pavilion in the center of the park for panoramic views 😍😍😍
📍Gongyuan Road, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture
We then explored the Yanji Korean Ethnic Culture Park to dive into the region’s unique blend of Korean and Chinese culture. In winter ❄️ the traditional hanok-style houses 🏘️ dusted with snow make for stunning photos 📸 The intricate details of the architecture are worth capturing, especially with the contrast of white snow against the wooden 🪵 beams.
📍Yanji Avenue, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture
For an unforgettable winter hiking experience 🏔️ we visited Mao’er Mountain National Forest Park. The forest 🌳 trails blanketed in snow were serene and breathtaking. At the summit, you’ll get a stunning view of the snow-capped mountains 🏔️ We recommend visiting in the early afternoon ☀️ when the sun casts a golden glow on the snowy landscapes.
📍Mao’er Mountain, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture
We also explored the Yanji Night Market. While it’s not your typical winter photo spot 📸 the market comes alive with colorful lights and steaming food stalls 🥘 The contrast of vibrant Korean-Chinese street food with the chilly winter air creates a lively and photogenic atmosphere. A great spot for candid shots 🙌🙌🙌
📍Gongyuan Road, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture
When planning your trip, aim to visit Yanji in January or February, when the snow is at its peak and the landscapes are most photogenic 😍😍😍

Yanji | A two-day flash visit is enough if you're not heading to Changbai Mountain
🚗 Yanji City, the county-level city and capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, is located in the eastern part of Jilin Province, in the central area of Yanbian, at the northern foot of the Changbai Mountain range. It lies in the hinterland of the Northeast Asia economic circle and is a pivot point in the Tumen River area 'Golden Triangle' as designated by the United Nations. It is only 60 kilometers directly east of the China-Russia border and 80 kilometers from the Sea of Japan; to the south, it is just over 10 kilometers from the China-North Korea border.
🚗Transportation
1. High-speed rail: Yanji West Station is a bit far from the city center but not too far; a taxi ride to the city center is less than 20y. There is also Yanji Railway Station for slower trains.
2. The airport is very close to the city center, and flying is the preferred mode of travel if the timing and price are right.
3. Within the city, the main modes of transportation are buses and taxis.
🚗Food
Local friends recommended several places: Michun Mixed Rice, Century Stone Pot, Shunji Cold Noodles, Plum Blossom Dog Meat, Dapu Family Barbecue, and Pilsen Self-Service Barbecue at Baili City. I tried Dapu and Michun, and I can only say they were not disappointing, but I have no experience. The Korean restaurant I found myself, Erjing, was good; you can have beef bone soup there. The difference might not be significant for people from other places.
🚗Play
1. Internet-famous walls, I stayed nearby which was convenient, but honestly, there's not much to do, just internet fame.
2. Water Market, which is just a morning market by the river, and the river channel is still being dug.
3. Mao'er Mountain National Forest Park, spent half a day there and felt it was average. Dinosaur Park, Museum, and Folk Park are all nearby, worth visiting if interested.
4. Local friends recommended Yanpi Mountain, saying there are hot springs and a buffet; I didn't go, but it's an option if you have enough time. It's a bit far from the city center.
5. In the evening, it's mostly about massages and baths; the whole of Northeast China is pretty much the same in this regard.
🚗Other
1. If you like Korean clothes, you can organize a photo shoot; there are many shops.
2. You can group together to go to Changbai Mountain or share a ride; many people are holding signs with ☎️.
3. The temperature difference is significant, with a few degrees at night and short-sleeve weather during the day.
🚗Yanji has been quite popular for a long time, and this time I took advantage of the break to come and check in quickly during the off-peak period. After playing for two days, I feel it's really just about checking in; if you want to see natural scenery, it's better to go directly to Changbai Mountain. I personally recommend it as a transit point or a casual visit, but if it's far, there's no need to make a special trip here.

2024 May Day Self-Drive in Yanji—Mao'er Mountain
Mao'er Mountain is a small hill in the Yanji city area. During the May Day holiday, we took our parents on a self-drive tour of Yanji, and on the first day, we chose to go to Mao'er Mountain to watch the sunset.
💗 Travel Feelings
If you come to Yanji for a trip, and the weather is good, then I recommend making a trip to Mao'er Mountain. From the top of the mountain, you can see the entire city, and the sunset is really beautiful.
【📌Practical Information】
Open scenic area, no gates, no admission fee.
The main attraction is hiking, with wooden plank paths throughout.
The hiking trail is a small loop; after walking a short flat distance from the start, there is a fork, and tourists generally keep to the right. The right side has more steps, it's tiring but the scenery is better, while the left side has a gentle slope.
The mountain is not high, it takes at most one hour to reach the top. Elderly people should consider carefully, and it is very hard for those over 70 who do not exercise regularly; it is advised not to climb or to take the gentle slope.
There is a three-story wooden building on the mountain top, and the view from the building is very good, especially on clear days, the sunset is extremely beautiful.
There are no dining or entertainment facilities on or at the foot of the mountain, so it is recommended to bring your own food. There are vendors selling water and cold drinks on the mountain, but no hot drinks; there is a coffee shop at the foot of the mountain, but I did not pay attention to its business situation.
There are toilets at the entrance of the scenic area at the foot of the mountain, but I did not see toilets elsewhere.
There is a bus that goes directly to the scenic area.
【📝Pitfalls Reminder】
➽ On May Day itself, it was jam-packed, and it took 1 hour to drive less than 10 kilometers, but the road conditions were very good on May 4th.
➽ I did not see a formal parking lot; all vehicles were parked haphazardly along the roadside, and parking was difficult during peak times.
➽ The scenic area itself is on a mountain, so if you take a taxi back to the city, vehicles need to come specifically to pick up passengers, making it slightly difficult to get a taxi out of the scenic area.

Yanji one-day city walk (sightseeing version)
A video of a one-day walk in Yanji was released before.
I received likes from some friends,
So this time the graphic content,
Let me tell you the route in detail🔍
🕙Time schedule: half day/one day
▫️Breakfast: It is recommended to have soup for breakfast! The floating market is really not delicious
There are recommendations in my other food posts ~
▪️Chunxing Folk Garden
If you want to avoid the crowds, I suggest you go to Chunxing. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the city. Personally, I think it’s more beautiful than the folk garden and there are fewer tourists. There are no tickets. I got my hair done here in Chunxing which is pretty good. I don’t pursue internet celebrity makeup. I suggest you paint it darker
It is recommended to charter a car
▫️Maoer Mountain
The mountain is not high. You can climb to the top in about 1 hour. There are particularly cute piles of stones along the way. After climbing to the top, you can see the panoramic view of Yanji.
🚌Road 16, 21, 43
▪️Folklore Garden
Although there are many tourists in the folk garden, we can take some photos at the entrance and look at the buildings. Haha, the main thing is to shift the peak.
▫️Floating market trail
The name of the floating market comes from the fact that it is located by the river. Although the morning market is not recommended, it is very interesting to walk along the trails during the day and you can go all the way to the West Market.
▪️Jiawen Coffee
If you want to try snow ice and ice color, I recommend this one! The location is right next to the floating market~
▫️West Market-Yanda
If the weather is very clear, you are very likely to encounter the sunset. You can walk along this road towards Yanda, chasing the sunset all the way. It is so beautiful🥹The sunset in Yanji is often very beautiful
▫️Dinner
If you are near Yeondae, after shooting, you can go to eat Korean mixed noodles or Dongdaemun in the snack street opposite.
If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend the Garden Cold Noodles a little further away.
◾️Tea House
If you want to avoid the crowds and watch the sunset, I recommend Qing Tea House. I often go there to fly drones, and it is the only place in Yanji where you can fly drones. The advantage is that there are few people and the scenery is beautiful. The disadvantage is that the road is not easy to walk and it is a little far away. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from the city.
It is recommended to charter a car

nji | Walk and eat
| Walk and eat. 🚶About where to stroll🚶
*West Market*
A huge farmers' market complex, the first floor mainly sells vegetables, dried goods, special products, spices, etc., which can be mailed; the upper floors sell clothes and daily necessities, there are refrigerator magnet souvenirs for sale, remember to compare goods and bargain; the top floor is a snack bar, I didn't find anything I wanted to buy so I left.
*Internet Celebrity Wall*
Not far from the West Market, you can walk there. I don't get why this place is so popular online, I remember chatting with the taxi driver about the Internet Celebrity Wall, he said it was inexplicably popular, and the locals were also confused.
*Yanji University*
The Internet Celebrity Wall is opposite Yanji University, the school gate is very eye-catching, and the architecture is also of ethnic style. You can visit the campus by scanning the code next to the security room at the school gate. After wandering around for a while, I went into the main building and saw a poster promoting Mandarin, which made me laugh, and found out that you can sign up for Korean classes for free, which is great.
*Hat Mountain*
The Folk Park is near Hat Mountain, but I'm not interested in the assembly line-like photo shooting, it's better to climb up and overlook the city, so I decided to climb the mountain and plunge into the embrace of nature. I forgot how long I climbed, not an hour but at least half an hour, it was so tiring, finally reached the viewing platform.
The viewing platform has two levels, it's quite high, the wind is strong up there, it feels like the whole wooden building is gently swaying in the wind, there are many little ladybugs stubbornly clinging to the wooden handrails. With a sense of dizziness, I looked out at the buildings of Yanji, the lush woods and the golden fields, feeling relaxed and happy. An old man who climbed the mountain with us stood at the highest point and shouted and laughed as if he was exercising his lungs, making everyone laugh.

About dining
🥢Before, I asked the driver who took us to Hunchun and Tumen for some good and non-internet-famous local restaurants, and he listed the following reference restaurants for me: Shengnan barbecue skewers, Shengwei barbecue skewers, Baiyu skewer city, Shunji cold noodles, Lianyu soup rice, Korean soup rice restaurant, Heba skewer city, Jixing barbecue skewers, Yanxin barbecue skewers, Li Haiyu sauce soup king, Benda people.
🍢*Yushan Barbecue Skewer City*
I randomly found a place across the street from Yanji University to have lunch, it was very good, I ate a lot and it wasn't expensive.
🦀*Zhenhai Bay Grilled Shellfish*
We ordered scallops, horse clams, swan eggs, grilled beef and crabs, they cut off a piece of crab leg in front of us for us to keep, so we can check later that it hasn't been switched.
The grilled shellfish sizzled, it was a pleasant sound! The shellfish meat was chewy and flavorful, it was really fragrant and delicious. When the crab was served, they let us check the cut-off crab leg, once we confirmed it, they started to break the crab and make crab roe and crab meat mixed rice, I was drooling watching it. When the rice was mixed, the boss suddenly said, 'Open your mouth, girl.', I was confused and just opened my mouth, a big spoonful of crab roe rice was shoved in, it was amazing!
-——-——-——-
🤷Some phenomena?🤷
When we took a taxi to Zhenhai Bay, the taxi driver found out we were going to Zhenhai Bay, and he earnestly and somewhat mockingly told us, 'You outsiders don't be fooled by the internet, we locals don't go to Zhenhai Bay, it's very bad, the comments online are all brushed up, you know.' Then he kept saying that the restaurant there is actually very small, it's uncomfortable to sit, and the environment is dirty, really dirty.
Then he started recommending two local restaurants with very good reputation and affordable prices to us, when he found out we insisted on going to Zhenhai Bay, the driver was not happy, he sighed and said we outsiders don't understand the situation, every once in a while he would make a snide comment, even when we arrived, he didn't forget to say, 'It's not too late to change your mind now.'
We later talked to the boss about the driver's words, and found out it was because they didn't give the driver a cooperation fee, some restaurants cooperate with taxi drivers to give them a commission, so the drivers will strongly recommend those restaurants, and make sarcastic comments about the restaurants that don't want to cooperat
