You get to avoid all those extorting cases and you get a private instructor at the resort. Here at W Maldives, I rented a glass bottom kayak and the staff at the water sports center taught me a few basics and even offered me a free waterproof bag so that I could take out my camera when I reached the ocean. The blue skies and white clouds on a crystal-clear ocean make my photos even nicer. It is very simple and you can do the swim test with life jacket. There is no need to breathe underwater or know how to swim. You will continue to breathe as per normal via the snorkeling tube. J?ust relax and don’t panic and you are good to go. If not, then take my advice, go to the shore along the spa. You can just simple dip your head in and look at the fishes. You do not even need to float. You can just sit down and use the snorkel set underwater. W Maldives pool An amazing ground level pool overlooking the ocean. The pool is integrated with the pool bar and you can swim up to the bar for a drink. Their pool is not deep, at 1.2m and they have a sheltered area for jacuzzi. It is a great place to relax and soak in the pool even though the beach is just a few steps away. There are also cabanas around the pool for dining in too. If you are on an all-inclusive meal package, you can keep ordering their cocktails. W Maldives sunset Amazing sunset at W Maldives. When I was there in May, the sunset timing was from 6.50 to 7.30pm. MY villa was facing sunset direction and looking at the sun slowly disappearing into the horizon was magnificent. Even after the sun set, the entire sky was still glowing. I planned my dinner time to be slightly later so that I can enjoy the views from my villa. Take a look at my sunset photos and you will be mermersied. I was told that a few days prior my arrival, it was always raining in Maldives. W Maldives floats Dont’t forget to pack all your swimming floats and air pump especially you have a private pool and the ocean all to yourself. For this trip, I brought along a few floats and also had a great time taking photos. The balcony deck is windy so you will need to put a leash on your floats otherwise it will just float away. I spotted a lost heart-shaped float in the sea, felt sorry for the float too. It will be better to wash the float after you use it the sea. W Maldives private pool Say yes to a private pool right outside on th balcony. Best of all, it has a jacuzzi and overlooking the ocean. Such a stunning view! This private pool is a bit too small to swim laps but you can access the ocean right below you from the balcony. I will suggest to swim in the ocean when it is low tide and when it is high tides, it will be safer to put on a life jacket. It is safe to snorkel around the villa. However, the area nearer to the spa has more fishes. There is this beach umbrella which is very unique, made of feathers. It is very easy to come to the bar and order a drink or else the bartender can also bring it to you at the pool or at the beach. During the day, they serve breakfast here and it is also open for lunch and dinner. I will suggest having dinner at the kitchen and you can choose to sit on the tables which are submerged in water. However, I think sitting on a regular table will be nicer for a prolonged dinner experience. I will recommend their tuna steak, it is a special dish and you can even order medium rare tuna steak too. I will suggest you come during sunset hours around 7 ish in the evening and experience FIRE from daylight to night time. FIRE is open on alternate days so it is best to check with your butler upon arrival. Some water sports center will require a swim test before you can get a snorkel set from them. But you can get this easily on your own and bring it over. Just hop by to the water sports center and you can get their kayak for loan and this is complimentary. Just remember to put on sun block lotion which is also available for free at the pool and beach area. W Maldives spa A beautiful spa located at the front side of the resort. I recommend taking a walk around the island and if the weather is too sunny, you can always call for a buggy. The route to the spa is amazing, you can spot many wild birds and colourful fishes near the shore. The feeling of walking on soft white sand against the blue ocean and under the blue skies and white clouds is really divine. Especially for the fresh air over here, it is a great place to get away from all the air pollution and hazy weather. Once you have arrive at their lounge, there is a huge W logo welcoming you to Maldives. This spot is also a photo spot and the W staff will take a photo of you and print it and send it to you when you have check in.
