Staying up late to organize | 3 days and 2 nights per capita 700 Dali nanny-level guide
Dali city gives me the feeling of one word "slow", so slow that winter has arrived, and autumn is still here.
Here I have organized a travel guide for 3 days and 2 nights in Dali in winter for friends who want to go to Dali as a reference.
—
📍Transportation:
🚅High-speed train: Get off at Dali Station, then exit the station to the blue sign where you can take the No. 8 bus to the East Gate/North Gate, or take the scenic area direct bus.
✈️Airplane: Dali has an airport, you can fly directly, but the airport is relatively far from the ancient city, but it is closer to Xiaguan, if you have time you can experience the night Xiaguan style.
🚖However, Dali's transportation is not very convenient, and many places cannot be visited by taking the bus. 😢
—
📍Essential scenic spots to check in:
1️⃣Dali Ancient Town: This is the core area of Dali tourism, with a deep historical charm, and it also carries Dali's culture! Although commercialization is unavoidable, it is still a place where foreign tourists check in. 😄
Admission: Free
—
2️⃣Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas: This is the only national 5A scenic spot in Dali, known as the first temple of Han Buddhism, with great scenery and a high photo output rate. 👍
Admission: 75
—
3️⃣Erhai Lake along the line:
As a symbol of Dali, to be honest, not going to Erhai Lake is really a waste of a trip to Dali. After going to Erhai Lake, I understand why Dali can become a place to soothe the soul. 🌊
Admission: Free/Boat ticket 140
—
4️⃣Shuanglang Ancient Town:
Located on the northeast coast of Erhai Lake in Dali, it is known as the town with the best sea view. The Sun Palace and Moon Palace of the Peacock Queen Yang Liping are here, but I didn't make a reservation. 🏠
Admission: Free
—
5️⃣Xizhou Ancient Town:
This is a quiet and delicate thousand-year-old town. The ancient town is not big, and it only takes about half a day to have fun. The atmosphere is quite strong. 🗓️
Admission: Free
—
6️⃣Nanzhao Fengqing Island:
Surrounded by water on all sides, there are Guanyin statues, Nanzhao Royal Palace, the main square, and Taihu stones on the island! You must take a boat to get on the island. 🚢
Admission: 50
—
7️⃣Cangshan:
This is my personal favorite, with eighteen peaks and eighteen streams, and the mountain top is covered with snow all year round. From here you can overlook the scenery of Dali Erhai Lake. 🏔️
Gantong cableway 80, Cangshan cableway 60 (round trip)
The main scenery is on the Gantong cableway

My first stop in Yunnan - Dali
Shijiazhuang - Kunming - Dali
I made a lot of travel plans before finalizing the itinerary. I was very lucky to have almost no disappointments - sharing and recording my travel itinerary
🚥Transportation: We flew ✈️ to Kunming and went directly 🚘 to Dali on the same day (actually, the original plan was to take the high-speed train, but we missed it. The high-speed train would have been faster and cheaper)
🏠Accommodation: We stayed near the Dali ancient town. Inside the town, transportation is not convenient, so staying nearby is very nice. The prices are very good, 100+ per day can get you a very, very nice homestay. Since we arrived at night, we booked for three days and it still wasn't enough! The location is convenient for going anywhere~
🗾Itinerary: On the first day, we chose to be in Haixi. Starting from Longkan Pier, we cycled along the coast 🚴🏻♀️. The two of us rode shared electric bikes. We did some research on this because you can't enter the ecological corridor with rented electric bikes. But the ecological corridor is worth visiting! So riding an electric bike is a better option 💰15/h. There are many parking spots. We passed all the scenic spots along the way, and the whole road is super beautiful! I kept exclaiming how beautiful it was, all the way to Xizhou. We took a tricycle to Xizhou Ancient Town. During the entire cycling trip, we stopped anytime to take photos and check in, which was particularly comfortable. ⚠️But everyone must, must pay attention to sun protection! If the sun is strong, you really can get sunburned! After strolling enough in Xizhou, you can take a bus directly back to the ancient town. In the evening, eat something near the ancient town and sleep beautifully~
On the second day, we chose to rent a Wuling Hongguang mini to go around the eastern part of the sea. The whole process was also along the coast. Renting a small electric car is what we think is the most cost-effective and comfortable way to travel. We could stop anytime to check in and then continue on our way~ 150km of battery life is completely enough. We went all the way to Shuanglang~ Then in the evening, we returned along the coast. The navigation was also very convenient. We drove while enjoying the seaside sunset
✌🏻The two-day itinerary basically ended like this. We could go to all the places we wanted to visit. On the third morning, we took the high-speed train/bus to Lijiang. We chose to 🚘 (because my boyfriend 💩 caused us to miss the high-speed train). I advise everyone to just go for it! You won't regret it once you go, and the cost of living is really not high
⚠️Remember! You must pay attention to sun protection! Definitely!

Early autumn in Dali~ Dominated by reeds!
In Dali, I saw the reeds mentioned in poetry, the reeds that cover the mountains and fields, swaying in the wind. The reeds are lush, and the white dew turns to frost. The so-called beloved one is on the other side of the water. The reeds, known as reeds in the Book of Songs, have since become a synonym for the beloved.
Autumn is here, sharing 4 stunning reed photography spots, go and see the beautiful reed marshes!
1. Xizhou, Dali, Shendujiang Village
Navigate to Qingyao Guimu Countryside
There is a free parking lot at the positioning point, just follow the road in front of the positioning point all the way to the Erhai Lake, remember to keep going. It's about a 30-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town.
The light is better in the afternoon, the reeds are very transparent in the sunlight, there is a beautiful path with reeds on the left and poplar forest on the right, right next to the water, a stunning photography spot!
2. Xizhou
Navigate to: Ruijie Wutai
You can park for free by the road, the entrance to the reeds is a dirt road, you can see it when you get there, and it's more lush as you go further inside. About 25 minutes drive from Dali Ancient Town.
These reeds are white and wild, creating a full atmosphere when swaying in the wind!
3. Xizhou, Zhonghe Yi
Search for Zhonghe Yi, and the scenery will appear before your eyes as you approach the village.
There is a free parking lot at the entrance of the village, and motor vehicles are not allowed on the country roads, so the beautiful scenery won't be disturbed! About a 25-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town.
If you are staying in Xizhou, it is highly recommended to take a walk in the morning, you will get an immersive experience!
4. Haidong Town, Dali
Navigate to: Duzi Mountain, opposite is a place called Huabin Health Care Center, there is a temporary barrier at the entrance, just go straight to the seaside.
Taking a taxi might not be so convenient, it is recommended to drive yourself, about an hour's drive from Dali Ancient Town!
The light is best in the afternoon! You can also wait for the sunset, super romantic! This is the only photography spot where reeds, Erhai Lake, and Cangshan Mountain are all in the same frame!

🕍[About Accommodation]
If you are self-driving, our place is suitable for you 🙋♀️
📍Located in the east of Erhai Lake, Dream Yunnan Sea East Villa Area.
Accommodation name: Villa No.3 at Guanyun Vacation Half-Mountain and Sea View
We booked a two-bedroom, two-living room, two-bathroom apartment with a large terrace overlooking the sea. The villa area has a good environment and is close to the airport. However, driving is needed to reach other attractions, and besides a few popular restaurants, it is not very convenient to eat elsewhere. Therefore, it is suitable for those who are driving themselves.
🚘[About transportation]
I chose to rent a car and drive myself in Dali, convenient and free to explore around Erhai Lake.
✔️Just book directly on Ctrip.
✔︎"Zhongzhi Jiacheng Car Rental" has new cars and good service, so there's not much to worry about! Of course, remember to get comprehensive insurance for peace of mind 🥰.
The Hungry Adventurer
Yunnan Dali Erhai Lake travel guide is here.
Self-driving itinerary for 2 days at Erhai Lake in Dali | Accommodation and sightseeing guide
.
I have driven to Erhai Lake four times and summarized that there are a total of five suitable accommodation areas in the west and east of the lake.
.
1️⃣Caicun. The advantage of living here is that it is located in the Haixi Ecological Corridor. 3km south of Caicun is the "Longgan Wharf", and 9km north is the "Banxi S Bend". These places are particularly beautiful and you can see the sunrise in the morning. Motor vehicles are not allowed in the Haixi Corridor, so you can walk or ride a bike. The disadvantage of choosing to stay in Caicun is that it is very close to Dali Ancient City, only 4km away. If you stayed in the ancient city for the first two days and drove here, it would be a bit awkward.
2️⃣Xizhou Ancient Town. The advantage of living in Xizhou is the quietness and the feeling of being in a small Bai village. It is also close to Haishetan Park, only 3km away, which makes it convenient to visit the "Couple Tree" for a check-in. I have stayed here twice, and at night, the village is relatively boring, so the only option is to take a walk by the seaside.
3️⃣Shuanglang Ancient Town. This is a scenic area that "combines beauty and talent". Although it is very commercialized, whether you are looking at Erhai Lake, watching the sunset, overlooking Cangshan Mountain, or strolling through the ancient town, tasting food, and enjoying coffee, it is worth your stay. There are two accommodation options in Shuanglang: if you want to be quiet in the bustling area, choose Dajian Village; if you like fireworks and want to go to bars at night, choose Shuanglang Village.
4️⃣Wasezhen. It is close to Xiaoputuo, about 4km away. In winter, there are more people watching seagulls here than seagulls themselves. Accommodation options in this area are limited and can be considered as a backup option.
5️⃣Ideal Country. Known as the "Santorini of China", it is a group of buildings on the mountain slope, with a sense of hierarchy like "terraces". There are very few hotels and homestays inside, and the prices are also very high.
.
After discussing accommodations, let's take a look at the itinerary. If you are staying in Shuanglang, my suggestion is:
☑️On the first day, you can rent a "little donkey" for cycling. Starting from north to south, passing through Luwo Mountain, Wase Town, and Xiaoputuo before returning, the round trip is about 40km. The highlight of this route is Luwo Mountain. After reaching the pass, be sure to park and hike all the way to the lake, reach the abandoned window, then follow a small path to the edge of the cliff, and arrive at the cave.
☑️On the second day, you can drive to Wenbi Village, Ideal State, and Longkan Wharf. The driving distance is about 70km. Drive slowly along the coastal road, roll down your car window, and let the sea breeze blow on your face. Because you know, this is the wind of farewell. Life has always been experiencing farewells, sometimes you leave your hometown, sometimes you bid farewell to your loved ones.

Xizhou Ancient Town
Don’t waste your time in Dali ancient town. It’s pretty much the same as any ancient town in China except for it’s much much bigger but this place, Xizhou is an authentic and Quaint ancient town.
Everything is walkable, and it is a lot less touristy than the dali ancient town. Here you’ll find some of the best local food. There aren’t many bars around, but there are some gorgeous boutique hotels. #tripblazers #china

These ancient towns in Yunnan are so beautiful.云南的这些古镇太美了
I went to the scene of the TV play "Go to the Windy Place". Following the plot, I went to the ancient town of Dali, Xicun in Xiangyang, Xizhou ancient town, the famous Erhai Lake, Shaxi ancient town and Fengyang city. There should be a lot of famous places in Dali that are still waiting for the drama. There is a clip that impressed me deeply. It is a very beautiful scenery. It is the Cangshan Mountain in the snow. The most attractive time for the city is in winter. It's not particularly hot, it feels very refreshing, and you can see a variety of geological features. The main thing is that it is very romantic to calm down and enjoy it alone.I am a person who likes to live by the sea, but the ancient cities and villages here are so distinctive, and the price is close to the people, there is a feeling of simplicity, small bridges and flowing water, quiet houses, ethnic minority customs, and the place where the heroine lives in the TV series "Go to the Windy Place" is almost exactly the same. There are also many pedestrian streets and shopping malls and supermarkets, so it's easy to buy things. As we all know, the popular scenic spots here are the ancient city, Erhai Lake and Cangshan Mountain. However, there are still some scenic spots that are not inferior to the above ones in terms of features and scenery. And that is Shaxi Ancient Town: a tranquil ancient town, surrounded by green mountains and waters, with beautiful environment, fresh air and little human interference. Songsheng Temple: It looks like the royal residence in ancient times, with red walls and green tiles. It is very big. Xizhou Ancient Town: It is very beautiful here, with ancient streets, many beautiful women, and golden fields as far as the eye can see. It is simply the beauty of poetry. In some places, there is also a chance to take a tricycle, which is very contemporary.

Xizhou Village is super quaint, tranquil and makes for the perfect countryside getaway! While here, you can find a bunch of different activities to get stuck into - including making your own tie dye items (t-shirts, handkerchiefs and more)! Plus, if you’re a big foodie like I am, this is THE place to pick up the one and only Xizhou Baba; a wheat-based flatbread stuffed with pork and scallions (and topped with egg if you want to go super deluxe) or sugary baba (which tastes like a freshly friend donut)!

Xizhou ancient town, stealing a half-day leisure
Departing from Bohai West Road to Xizhou Ancient Town, there are many roads being repaired, so it has gone a lot of roads. On the other hand, this also makes me more I have walked through several villages in the countryside of Dali. The history of the ancient town of Xizhou was the Nanzhao period before the millennium. It was a major commercial and trade town at that time, and at that time it also produced the Xizhou business gang. It was also a transit station on the ancient tea-horse road, providing leisure for the past caravans. And the place to supply.
In the ancient town of Xizhou, you can meet many well-preserved deep-stay courtyards. Therefore, to see the Bai people's residences, it is right to come to Xizhou.
This is a very exciting flying arch in the Bai people's residence in Xizhou. The typical three-drip gate system, you can see that when it rains, the raindrops will pass through the first and second flying rafts, and then ticking. Answering the ground to the ground, it also means that the money is rolling. There are many beautiful murals on the entire gate, colored and beautiful, very beautiful.
JUNS.

Xizhou Ancient Town ~ Highly recommended
Xizhou Ancient Town is not large, and you can explore it thoroughly in just half a day. Suggested travel route: Enter the ancient town through Xizhou Justice Gate - Ancient Banyan Tree - Yan Family Courtyard - Corner Tower - Wheat Field - Haixie Park
What to see in Xizhou Ancient Town?
Bai ethnic ancient architectural complex: Xizhou is an important town where the Bai ethnic group resides, so there are many preserved Bai residential buildings here: the unique house structures of 'three rooms and one screen wall' and 'four courtyards and five wells', with painted decorations such as carved beams, painted rafters, overlapping brackets, and flying eaves, allowing you to enjoy them all at once.
★ Must-see attractions include:
⊙ Yan Family Courtyard Museum (a mansion of a wealthy local merchant from over 100 years ago)
Ticket: 18 yuan
Opening hours: 8:30-18:00
⊙ Towering ancient trees:
Not far from the Justice Gate, there is a 50-year-old ancient banyan tree, still thriving today.
⊙ Corner Tower: A must-visit spot in Xizhou. If you want to take undisturbed photos, try to arrive before 8:30. Otherwise, you'll have to take photos amidst carriages, cars, and crowds, making it difficult to get good shots.
⊙ Large swaying wheat fields: From March to May, it's wheat fields: rapeseed flowers in early March, green fields in April. From June to October, it's rice fields: turning golden by mid-September.
⊙ Fragrant and hot Xizhou Baba. Actually, you don't have to insist on eating Xizhou Baba in Xizhou. The freshly made ones sold in small alleys outside are cheap and delicious. Personally, I think the sweet ones (with brown sugar filling) are tastier than the savory ones. Freshly baked ones with a crispy crust are the most delicious, with flowing brown sugar filling, but be careful not to burn yourself.
⊙ From Xizhou to Haixie Park: It is about 3km from the wheat fields of Xizhou Ancient Town to Haixie Park. You can take a taxi or a small yellow tricycle.

In Xizhou, I found Miyazaki's summer
In Xizhou, I found Miyazaki's summer and planned a day trip in Xizhou.
It takes about an hour and a half to cycle from Dali Ancient City. Summer in Dali is not suitable for driving; the traffic is so bad that it makes you question life...
The journey is filled with fairy-tale greenery.
I never knew wheat fields could be so beautiful.
Found a café with a great view inside.
Outside the window is a lush green wheat field and a small train running through it.
The pizza was unexpectedly delicious.
The water lilies at the entrance of the ancient city were blooming perfectly, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to take photos. By the time I came out in the evening, they were already asleep.

Xizhou Ancient Town: A Bai Ethnic Secret Realm Through Millennia
Xizhou Ancient Town has a history of over a thousand years and is an old place for the Bai people in China. Mr. Lao She once said that Xizhou is a remarkable place. The houses here retain their ancient appearance and are well-preserved, filled with the unique flavor and style of the Bai ethnic group. If you visit, you definitely won't want to leave.
Address: East of Dali Line, Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture
Ticket: 18/person
Opening Hours: 8:30-18:00
Transportation: Take a bus from the Cangshan Gate of Dali Ancient City to Xizhou Zhengyi Gate
Travel Guide
👀Zhuanjiao Building is a landmark attraction in Xizhou, and many people come here to take photos. However, if there are many people, you might have to queue, so it's best to go early.
👀Xizhou is home to many traditional Bai houses, which are very distinctive.
👀Sifang Street is like the central square of Xizhou. It is bustling with many small shops and restaurants, making it a favorite spot for tourists.
👀Xizhou Wall refers to Dong Jinhan Courtyard, which connects three different areas of Xizhou. It's perfect for continuous shooting, like checking in at different places.
👀Yan Family Courtyard Museum is a historical site. It was originally a luxurious mansion of a wealthy family over 100 years ago and is now a place to showcase history.
👀The ancient tree near Zhengyi Gate is over 500 years old but still thriving and very spectacular.
👀If you want to find the ancient tree mentioned in the TV series "To a Place with Wind," you can navigate to Hetianli Boutique Inn and walk a few minutes to find it. The photo effect is particularly good when there are fewer people.
🔥When you step into Xizhou Ancient Town, you will see many beautiful Bai houses. These houses have three small houses surrounding a large courtyard (San Fang Yi Zhao Bi) or four houses surrounding five courtyards (Si He Wu Tian Jing). The corners of the roofs are high and pointed, like birds about to take flight, and the decorations are very intricate, like works of art. The carvings and paintings are exquisite, making people marvel at their beauty.

Life advice! When you come to Dali, make sure to leave a day for Xizhou~
Xizhou Ancient Town is located in the northern part of Dali City, with Cangshan Mountain to the west and Erhai Lake to the east. The rice fields in Xizhou are stunning in the summer. It is recommended to stay for one night and visit the surrounding attractions over two days.
DAY1 Xizhou Ancient Town
✅Zhuanjiao Building: A landmark building in Xizhou Ancient Town, it is an old Bai ethnic residence with a unique architectural style.
✅Xilin Courtyard: The yellow walls here contrast beautifully with the rice fields, making it a great spot for artistic photos, though the sun can be quite harsh!
✅Wheat Fields: The wheat fields offer different scenery in different seasons. In summer, the lush green fields are perfect for photos.
✅Big Green Tree: Located outside Xizhou Ancient Town, this ancient tree is where Liu Yifei shed tears in the show 'To a Place Where the Wind Blows'. Fans of the show shouldn't miss it~
DAY2 Haise Park
✅The park features beautiful lake views, grasslands, and trees, making it a great spot for photos.
⚠️Tips: You need to book the park tickets by 6 pm the day before!
👍Accommodation recommendation: The newly opened 'Moxianyuan·Luxury Homestay' near Xizhou Ancient Town. The rooms are fully equipped with smart technology and excellent hardware! The best part is that it's within 3 km of all the above attractions. The owner thoughtfully provides a photo album and offers free electric scooters!
🆚Compared to many other homestays in the area, none offer such amenities at the same price!
🌃At night, you can also enjoy the stunning starry sky from the rooftop of the homestay~

Then, I see many bloggers start from ✈️✈️ Kunming → Dali → Lijiang. I'm not very interested in the attractions in Kunming 0🔥, so here is the itinerary I planned for your reference:
🚧Itinerary:
⛳Day 1: Depart from Shanghai - 4h - Lijiang → Lijiang Ancient Town
⛳Day 2: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain → Glacier Park → Yunshanping → Blue Moon Valley
⛳Day 3: Depart from Lijiang - 2.5h - Dali → Dali Ancient Town → Zhou Town

✨3. The temperature difference between day and night is large, bring a jacket

Xizhou Ancient Town Tour, Check-in and Eat, Half a Day is Enough
🎈Compared to the grandeur of Dali Ancient City, I prefer the tranquility and delicacy of Xizhou Ancient Town. This thousand-year-old town is bordered by Erhai Lake to the east and Cangshan Mountain to the west, attracting countless tourists with its famous 'wind-blown wheat waves.'
🎈Unfortunately, when I visited in early July, there were no wheat fields left🌾, but there were endless green rice fields, which were equally pleasing to the eye. The small train travels through the fields🚂, accompanied by blue skies and white clouds, making it feel like being in a Hayao Miyazaki anime world. Taking a break at a coffee shop in the fields, a sense of relaxation washes over you☕.
🎈Walking into Xizhou Ancient Town, numerous Bai ethnic residences come into view. The 'three rooms and one screen wall,' 'four courtyards and five patios,' high-pitched eaves, exquisite brackets, and beautifully carved beams and painted rafters🏫.
🎈The uniquely shaped corner buildings attract countless tourists, and I am one of them😄. However, it was too crowded to take good photos. I suggest visiting Xizhou Ancient Town either at 8 am or in the evening.
🎈Yan Family Courtyard is a large courtyard in Xizhou Ancient Town, revealing the glory and honor of the past everywhere. It features exquisite wood carvings, ingenious stone carvings, and colorful paintings🌟. It is said to be the mansion of a wealthy local merchant over 100 years ago.
🎈Everywhere in Xizhou Ancient Town🎬, you can see scenes from the TV series 'Where the Wind Goes.' Besides the wooden carving house of Xia Xia, Xiufang, and the yellow walls of Xilin Garden outside the ancient town, the wheat fields (now rice fields)🌾, the couple tree where Li Xian and Liu Yifei led their horses, and a 300-year-old big green tree🌳 where Liu Yifei cried in the drama. For specific navigation, search 'Hetianli Boutique Homestay.'
🎈Xizhou Ancient Town Tour Route:
Justice Gate➪Ancient Banyan Tree➪Yan Family Courtyard➪Corner Building➪Rice Fields➪Haixie Park
🎈Xizhou Ancient Town Food:
Xizhou Baba is a local specialty snack with sweet and salty flavors. I prefer the brown sugar filling, which is the most delicious when freshly baked. In the ancient town, and in the alleys outside, it costs 💰5 yuan each. There are many coffee shops in Xizhou, and I recommend going to the coffee shops in the fields outside☕, with a wide view and great scenery, where you can enjoy the breeze even in the hot summer🍃.
🎈Xizhou Ancient Town Transportation:
I went with my best friend on a group tour, starting from Justice Gate for free activities, and spent half a day there. For those traveling independently, you can take a bus from Dali Ancient City🚌 for 20 yuan per person, or a small minibus near San Yue Street. For those touring Erhai Lake, you can take a tricycle from Haixie Park to Xizhou Ancient Town.
🎈Little Tips:
① There are many beautiful tie-dye items in the ancient town, and you can bargain💰. No need to buy too many, as many are also available online.
② Many enthusiastic ladies in the ancient town will ask if you want to braid your hair💰. It's best to ask for the price first.
💖Spending half a day in Xizhou Ancient Town, we had no hurried or tight schedule, only pure tranquility and beauty. Every grass, tree, brick, and tile here filled me with endless warmth and comfort💖.

Roaming Plan in the Market: Dali·Xizhou Ancient Town Market Guide
- Xizhou Ancient Town has more than just wheat fields! The market is also great for strolling around~ Just in time for the Torch Festival (called 'Fu Wang Wu' in Bai language), the wood 🪵 we saw earlier turned out to be torches! The colorful paper-made Shengdou (a mascot on the torch, symbolizing 'abundant harvest and favorable weather~') is very eye-catching! Such a great atmosphere!
- Various fruits 🍇🍑🫐🍎/local specialty vegetables 🫛/seasonal mushrooms 🍄~ Fresh Sichuan pepper with a strong aroma~ There are also tea leaves 🍵, bamboo crafts 🎋, zongzi 🍘, tofu pudding 🍥, pickled fruits 🍐, pea jelly 🍮... A wide variety of items~ visually appealing and fun~
