First, our request for a high floor was kindly accommodated—we were given room 11825 on the 18th floor, which features panoramic ocean views and elegant interiors. Many thanks to your team for that. In fact, my wife has a special request: could we please have this same room every time we stay at Dorsett?
Second, the thoughtful gesture of a card, chocolate, and a bottle of wine for our special occasion truly showed how much effort your team puts into making guests feel valued.
Third, both my wife and our child absolutely loved the pool and jacuzzi at Star Grand. So overall, our stay was amazing, to say the least.
But none of this would be possible without first acknowledging your wonderful hotel staff. You probably see hundreds of guests each day, yet you still take a personalized approach—staying in touch with each guest and understanding their individual needs. Honestly, I hope other hotels will follow your example and make this the gold standard for excellence in customer service. Our last two hotel bookings through Trip.com were disappointing, but fortunately, your hotel never lets us down.
The gold-accented interiors are striking and have become a signature look of your hotel. We’ll remember them just as fondly as we remember landing at Singapore Changi Airport. We recently bought a new house and have been decorating with gold-colored furniture from Koala Living. After staying with you, we’ve realized that our inspiration was inadvertently drawn from your hotel rooms.
We come to Dorsett every year and have never been disappointed. We look forward to returning again soon.

The room and public spaces were clean, which was great! It was also convenient to have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hairdryer provided. However, the walls seem a bit thin, as I could hear outside noise and sounds from the hallway. If you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend requesting a quiet room. Also, the walk from the station is uphill, so it can be a bit challenging if you have a lot of luggage.

I recently stayed at Hides Hotel during a trip to Cairns and was pleasantly surprised by the value and charm this heritage-style hotel offers.
The location is absolutely unbeatable—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of the Esplanade, night markets, Reef Fleet Terminal, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Whether you’re heading out for a reef tour or just exploring the local area, Hides is a super convenient base.
The room was basic but clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed, including air-conditioning (a must in Cairns!), a small fridge, and free Wi-Fi. The building itself has an old-school character that’s a bit different from your typical chain hotels, which I actually really liked—it feels like you’re staying somewhere with history.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, happy to give recommendations and assist with bookings. There’s also a lovely wide veranda on the upper level, which is a great spot to relax in the evening and take in the atmosphere of the city.
Only downside was that the hotel is a bit dated in places, and depending on the room you’re in, you might hear a bit of street noise—but that’s to be expected in a central location like this.
Overall, Hides Hotel is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers who want clean, central, no-fuss accommodation with character. I’d definitely consider staying again.

We arrived after office hours and appreciated that the check-in process was straightforward and easy to follow. However, the park's location is a bit far from supermarkets and major attractions, which made getting around less convenient for us.
The facilities are mostly shared and not quite suitable for our needs. Unfortunately, all better-equipped units were fully booked, so we couldn't upgrade. We also found the Wi-Fi signal in the room to be quite weak. Due to these factors, we decided to cut our stay short and checked out after just one night.

The environment here is absolutely impeccable, I must say. The lobby, rooms, pool, and rooftop restaurant are all beautifully decorated.
As for the facilities, they're also excellent. Being a new hotel, everything is very modern. However, the bathroom has one major drawback: there's nowhere to put your phone if you're in the toilet area.
Cleanliness is very good. Rooms are only cleaned if you notify the front desk daily, and that 'clean room' light doesn't seem to do much.
Service, though, was just mediocre. The staff at the rooftop restaurant, in particular, had a terrible attitude, acting completely uninterested. The front desk staff were quite good at check-in, but poor communication during shift changes led to a significant amount of money being unjustly charged to my credit card. I only discovered this because I noticed the unreasonable charges in time. It took involving Trip.com and my bank to resolve it, especially since the charges happened 3 days after I had already left the hotel, with no email notification whatsoever. If I hadn't been vigilant, I wouldn't have known about these losses, as they only appear on the statement – this is truly awful. There's even one charge I'm still unclear about, but it's too late to investigate further. So, when staying at this hotel, you absolutely need to keep a close eye on your bill! This whole ordeal even affected my subsequent vacation, as I spent every day trying to sort this out!
The hotel has been recently renovated, so all the facilities are brand new. It's conveniently located right across from the tram stop, making it super easy to get around. They assigned me a high-floor room with a sea view, which was lovely – very comfortable, clean, and quiet. I even got to enjoy the sunrise from my room! Plus, they offered luggage storage after check-out, which was a thoughtful touch.
The location of the hostel was great, right in the centre of where you need to be. The staff were nice and helpful. However the hostel standard was not up to the same level as the location and staff. The rooms were moderately clean, we had a massive brown stain on our bedding when we arrived, the showers and toilets had mould and clumps of spiders and spiders webs everywhere. In the corners, on the ceilings, in the actual toilet and shower areas. That being said you get what you pay for, this is one of the cheapest hostels in airlie beach, so you sacrifice some cleanness due to how cheap it is.

The hotel claimed to be close to the central station, but it's actually about a 10-minute walk, and you have to go up a steep hill, which isn't ideal if you have luggage. The room facilities are basic, with a kettle and a coffee machine. The bathroom is a bit small, and the shower water tends to leak out, so you need to be careful not to slip. The main elevator door downstairs seems to close around 8:00 PM, so guests returning later have to use the stairs, which is inconvenient if you're carrying bags. There's an underground parking lot, which is good for those traveling by car.

All I could say was this place was wonderful. It was a short 2-night stay, and we really enjoyed how the accommodation is so convenient, centrally-located to all the things and places we wanted to go.
We loved the large living space for our unpacking and packing. We spent a lot of time together in the living space which was what we liked about traveling as a group.
Bathroom was clean and the shampoo bath soap and conditioner smells amazing:)
Check in was fast and front desk was very helpful when we needed the borrow the phone for local calls and also borrowing the umbrellas.
Had a great time !

The Swiss-Belhotel is my go-to place to stay. The beds are incredibly comfortable and guarantee a great night’s sleep. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, often going above and beyond to assist.
The hotel is clean, well-priced, and conveniently located close to the CBD, public transport, pubs, and restaurants. Consistently great service and excellent value every time I stay
CCrouching Koala Hidden EmuStayed at the Wyndham in Surfers Paradise for a family weekend away and overall it was a solid choice. As Gold Coast locals we didn’t really need the constant upsell on tours and activities, but I can see how interstate or overseas visitors would find that useful.
The location is the real strength here — easy walking distance to Cavill Avenue, directly opposite Q1, and the observation deck nearby was great for the family. Very convenient without needing to constantly drive around Surfers.
Our king-sized room was spacious, comfortable and worked well travelling with a young family. The hotel itself felt clean and well maintained.
One thing worth noting for visitors is that the Hamilton Street beach entrance is still showing the effects of Cyclone Alfred from 2024, so beach access in that immediate area is not quite back to normal yet. That’s obviously outside the hotel’s control, but useful for travellers planning beach days.
Overall, a good stay if you want a central Surfers Paradise base with plenty within walking distance.
GGuest UserI was very satisfied. There is a shop near the hotel, which is very helpful. Due to its location, it is a place where you do not have to eat. The hotel employees are very nice.
GGuest UserI was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in directly at 9 AM, which was a great start to my stay. The staff even upgraded us to a sea-view room! So happy! The toiletries, like the body wash, were all from Origins and smelled lovely. The hotel is super modern, but the only downside is that the room lacked a main light and a desk. I wanted to get a little work done at night, but all I had was the faint glow from my screen.
GGuest UserIt was a bit painful from the get go checking in. You have to go to a different hotel a block over. There is nowhere to park to check in. I called the number to be put through to a call centre that isn’t on site.
Call 1: yes you can park in the visitor parking just buzz and they’ll let you in.
Call 2: while blocking the driveway I’m unable to find a buzzer that reaches reception. Operator sounds confused, I hang up and someone is coming out so I sneak in.
Call 3: I’m parked in visitor parks, go up the lift and come out at another building. She again sounds confused. If I go out the door I won’t be able to get back in without a fob, so I’m asking which way I should go. There are no signs to tell me how to get to Ivy and Eve apartments. I eventually find a worker who takes me around to reception. Sorted. Or so I think.
I check in with reception. The girl was really lovely and informative. So I think, until I reach the carpark of the next building I’m staying at. The sheet of paper she gave me says “your allocated car space is 131 and is located on 55. I drive in looking for level 55, car space 131. Neither of these exist.
Call 4: Where is my carpark? Am I missing something. Keep in mind every time I call I’m asked to give all my details so they can verify my booking so by now I’m pretty tired of it all. She finds my booking and says oh yes you’re in park 55 on level B1. (See photo for why I was confused!)
I drive around the carpark looking for a 55. It doesn’t exist. All carparks are labelled with a sign saying Art house and 4 numbers. Ok maybe it’s the last 2? Nope doesn’t exist. After driving around for a bit I realise there are numbers on the ground of the carpark that are completely different to the signs (I didn’t look at the ground because the signs said art house)
So finally I work out that this is my park. Another confused guest stops to ask me where his park might be and I explain it’s the floor ones not the art house signs. So I wasn’t the only one.
Ok so park the car, go upstairs to room 1106 which of course is on floor 10. Makes sense lol. As soon as I open the door I’m hit with a wet musty kind of smell. Like the place had been flooded and not allowed to dry out properly maybe? I opened all the windows and when that didn’t work I went and bought some air freshener to hide the smell a bit.
We left all the doors open all night and next day and the smell improved. The lounge chairs are not comfy if you’re looking for a stay in watch Netflix type staycay, but the beds are really comfy. The place was pretty immaculately clean so that was nice. And washer dryer were great to have.
If I had have known I’d need to go through all that checkin at another building I would not have booked. Maybe I missed the part that mentioned this? Ahh well we enjoyed our stay in general, it just didn’t get off to a good start.
GGuest UserI thought because of the price, it wouldnt be that great but we were so blown away. The view is gorgeous, the location is perfect and it’s so lovely while still cozy. Staff were great and the amenities were a great way to spend an evening, 10/10 recommend!!
GGuest UserPublic transportation isn't very convenient, especially at night when returning to the hotel. Buses often run late, requiring a long, hilly hike. Daytime buses are available, but they're not very frequent. It's quite a distance up a hill from the central area, and quite far. The shower in the bathroom makes a strange mechanical noise when you turn it on, but having two sinks is a plus. The bed in the room had some black spots, but it was quite large. It's just a low floor, with no view or privacy from the window. The second floor faces a busy garage. The next morning, my credit card was inexplicably charged over $270, in addition to the $100 deposit. I emailed the manager, but there was no explanation, just an apology and a refund. It was very confusing.

JJoannaYan****The location is fantastic, right at the end of the main shopping street. You can literally just walk downstairs and you're there. We were able to walk to several attractions from the hotel. The front desk for check-in is shared by two hotels, which wasn't very clearly indicated, and I was quite anxious while waiting in line. It's a pretty big hotel with lots of guests, and no matter which building you're in, there's always an elevator out of order. It seems like they always have to have one of the three elevators shut down for maintenance.
