Astoria Palawan will always be our favorite recharging place after an adventure packed week in El Nido and Port Barton. Perfect place to just chill, relax and enjoy the remaining days of your vacation before flying back to Manila or back abroad.

Nacpan Beach Villas Managed by H Hospitality Group

The sea at Nacpan in the early morning is a blue-grey colour, not dull grey but textured, almost like matte glass. The light comes slowly over the mountains and spreads across the water. I joined the free morning yoga class the resort offers, on the beach, which was very comfortable. One small frustration: not enough storage in the villa. Not many shelves or hooks, so camera gear and clothes had nowhere to go. The suitcase stayed open on the floor the whole time, which gets awkward in a small space. If you’re bringing a lot, just know that going in. The room has a coffee machine and mini fridge, but I still liked walking to the restaurant. Head out before sunset, lie on a sun lounger, have dinner, then wander back slowly. The stars at night were more than I expected.

Awesome hotel. We had the family room which had 2 double beds and 2 singles. For our family of 5 great. Kids loved the buffet breakfast. Plenty of tuk tuks out front if you want to go into town (5 mins) or airport (20 mins). There is 3 pools. We spent time at a different one each day. We had had a pretty full on trip beforehand so this was the perfect hotel to relax for a bit. Restaurant was good for dinner too. Lots of food options in town too. Good location to get to the port too for any day trips. Highly recommend.

Grace Hutchinson!
”One thing worth knowing if you’re travelling with kids: there are no children’s facilities, no waterslides, nothing like that. This is the kind of place that makes adults want to slow down. As for the kids, the pool isn’t deep, and right next door is Lio Beach. They also have footballs and volleyballs to borrow. We sat at a nearby café eating ice cream while watching them play, and I think that’s honestly one of the best things a parent can experience. There’s a hotel shuttle roughly every hour that you can book to go into town. We arranged island hopping through the hotel, took the shuttle to the departure point in the morning, and found the area there had far more restaurants and shops than around the hotel. After the tour we stayed a bit longer in town before heading back, though not being able to shower straight away was a slight downside. On the room itself, two sinks is a mum’s dream. There’s a kitchen but I had no intention of cooking. Still, being able to wash fruit and have it ready was genuinely useful. Two large double beds, both very comfortable, and after a full day of activity the kids were asleep before we even had to ask.”

The resort is nestled in a quiet harbour within a small village just a short distance from Puerto Galera — you can reach the town in about 10 minutes by tricycle for 50 pesos. The property sits right on the waterfront, with its courtyard opening directly onto the bay. The setting is incredibly serene, cosy and picturesque. The grounds feature plenty of relaxing spots: comfortable chairs, sun loungers and hammocks where you can unwind. We especially loved the chair near the large tree — it was the perfect place to relax! The sea near the resort is a bit murky due to local currents, so not many people swim here. However, this isn’t an issue at all, as you can quickly and affordably reach the stunning beaches of Sabang (I highly recommend La Laguna) by tricycle — or even on foot if you’re up for a walk. During low tide, you can explore the seabed right near the hotel. The resort also has a small swimming pool, and despite other guests staying there, we never had any trouble finding space to take a dip. The rooms are clean and well‑maintained, featuring a small kitchenette, stylish bathrooms and even a bathtub. We stayed on the ground floor, so we occasionally noticed small ants and once spotted a gecko — but they never caused any inconvenience. Please note that the air conditioning is rather weak, so the room might feel a bit stuffy or not quite cool enough at times. There’s both a ceiling fan and a standing fan available, though, and overall the accommodation was comfortable. The on‑site restaurant offers a wide selection of dishes for breakfast and other meals, with prices typical for a resort area. We were very pleased with the food. The staff are attentive, always smiling and eager to help. During our week‑long stay, the resort wasn’t crowded, which made for a truly relaxing experience — you really get what you came for. Occasionally, local guests can be a bit noisy, laughing loudly or singing karaoke, which might disturb your sleep or meditation. However, this is not the resort’s fault, and it’s still relatively quiet compared to other spots around Puerto Galera, such as White Beach. What could be improved: 1) Flip‑flops. It’s odd that a seaside resort doesn’t offer free flip‑flops like most similar places do — they only rent them out here. Even budget hotels usually provide this small convenience. 2) Charge for outside food. Corkage fees are normal, but charging an extra 150 pesos for any outside food is too much. Even though we weren’t charged, the mere existence of such a rule makes the resort look stingy. This rule should be removed. 3) Wi-Fi was dead almost all of the time. Don’t rely on it. Thanks to the Blue Crystal Resort for a nice stay! I highly recommend it.

Tropicasa Coron Resort and Hotel

We traveled as a family of four and booked two rooms—one twin-sharing and one queen double. Both rooms were in good condition, clean, and comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Daily housekeeping is available upon request, which was convenient. Before our trip, I was a bit hesitant after reading some negative reviews mentioning repetitive breakfast options and the absence of hairdryers. However, it seems the hotel has addressed these concerns. Each room now comes with a brand-new hairdryer (ours was still in the box), and we were pleasantly surprised that the breakfast offerings were varied and different each day. The hotel’s location in Coron town is another big plus, making it easy to walk to nearby restaurants. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again if we return to Coron.

This place is truly a little corner of paradise. It’s almost impossible to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay and how special this place is. The owners — an Englishman and a Filipina — are the perfect mix of warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail. They genuinely go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable and are happy to accommodate almost any request, always in such a natural and unobtrusive way. The rooms are comfortable, spotless, and beautifully maintained. The air conditioning is quiet, the mattresses and pillows are incredibly comfortable, and everything you might need is provided — right down to shower gel and a toothbrush. The hotel is still relatively new and everything is in excellent condition. There are free SUP boards for guests, and you can also rent a scooter from the hotel if you feel like exploring El Nido for the day. And then there’s the food… that deserves a review of its own! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were fantastic. You can order fresh seafood, or even buy it yourself and have the team prepare it for you. My husband loves grilling, so we arranged to get some meat and had our own little BBQ evening. One of the staff members was genuinely excited to help and learn how it’s done — such a small moment, but incredibly warm and touching. My husband also wanted to go fishing, and the local fishermen were happy to take him along. Unfortunately, we simply didn’t have enough time during our stay, but knowing that such experiences were so easily arranged made the place feel even more special. That’s the beauty of a small boutique hotel like this. Unlike huge resorts, they can actually respond to the individual wishes of their guests and make you feel personally cared for. At the same time, there is absolutely no pressure to socialize. Everything is beautifully balanced: if you want to chat, there’s always someone happy to talk to; if you want privacy, you’ll have complete peace and seclusion. It truly feels like your own little paradise. If we ever return to El Nido, we will absolutely stay here again. Thank you to the wonderful owners and the whole team for such a memorable stay. We’re incredibly grateful for your hospitality and wish you all the success you deserve! ❤️

We stayed 1 night, for easy access to the airport. Walking distance to the bayside walk and lots of restaurants and bars. The bedroom and bathroom could do with being updated but it was cheap / value for money. Hot and cold water dispenser and nice area for eating
